  1. What I meant for wait is that there is no factory ammo for the 300BLK on store shelves. The only way to have some is to roll your own . You have to cut down 5.56 /.223 brass & form it to the 300BLK brass. If you have any questions about loading for the 300BLK or others , go to the reloading section ,if you haven't already &some of your question may already been answered & I already started one on reloading for the 300BLK.
  2. Only difference is the alignment or the upper rails , height wise.
  3. Depends on the barrel dia. at the gas block . 0.750", 0.850" & so on.
  4. If you are not a reloader , I would wait till factory ammo is more readily more available. Which they say is this year some time . Who knows with Remington ,but other manufacturers are also interested in the Caliber.
  5. As said , Fulton Armory ,I think still sells the old height( & I believe they are made by DPMS ) , call or email to make sure they haven't changed any thing . Here is how to measure the upper to find out . Info straight from DPMS: Our AR15 receivers are all the same height except the High Rider and Tri-Mount. The LR308 Platform has two heights, the A3 and Lo-Pro Raised Rail. The A3 was changed recently to better accommodate our other components. I guess in reality, with the number sold before the change, there are now 3 heights. To find out if you have a newer model or older run, the easiest way to measure is with a caliper from the bottom surface that mates to the lower to the top of the rail. The new versions measure 2.003 and the old versions are 2.063. Any larger receiver rail to handguard rail height difference would be due to the lack of an industry standard in the large frame AR style rifles. Everybody is still pretty much making their own thing and some measurements just don't line up between manufacturers. And the above is from a manufacturer that just changed there's from std .
  6. I wouldn't say it will take a higher pressure . They are basically the same case , with very little difference .
  7. The gen. I magpuls have been on my 16" 308 build since I got them & they work just fine . I like them.
  8. I'm going to try this one out Monday . I looked at the three gun & it was a hard choice on there triggers, so many different designs , but man ,this is one nice set up .
  9. The only thing I see there is the DPMS upper . They changed the rail height (lowered it ) & there are very little choices in hand guards to match the new rail height on the upper receiver . Fulton Armory sells there DPMS uppers to the old std. rail height , but you might want to contact them to be sure . Last I knew , they did .
  10. I like my Vtac more than my YHM from Fulton ,but still a nice hand guard.
  11. The 300BLK & 300 Fireball are basically the same except that the 300BLK 's chamber is a has a little more free bore to the rifling of the barrel ' Its like a .223 vs a 5.56 the 300BLK being like the 5.56 having a little more it bullet jump to the rifling . I think they did it to host a wider variety of bullet designs . The 300BLK is 7.62 x 35 so it is close to the 7.62x39 ,but the real difference is not in performance ,its the ability to use the M16/ar15 bolt with no alterations .The 7.62x39 bolt face has to be opened up to use it in an AR & they have not been too successful in operation because of the weakened locking lugs . We have several builds going on in the Rifle section here & you can read up on my load testing & I even have some info in the reloading section.
  12. There's a thread on this sight some where ,that talks abut rails . Just about all the hand guard manufacturers make there rails in both DPMS & Armlite configurations , some don't ,but most do. I kinda like to the Vtac , myself , but look up DD ,PRI, & theres a bunch of others.
  13. I would say about 95 % of feeding issues are the mag. in any AR type rifle . Extraction & ejection is another matter , with any AR type rifle. The DPMS receivered 308 I built is 100% reliable with any mag. & a good portion of it is DPMS parts (BCG,upper/ lower receiver & there parts groups ) If the action is not working , theres some thing wrong & needs to be tweaked ,so to speak. I have two gripes with DPMS , they changed there upper receiver rail height & they have chamber issues (mass produced rifle , shows some quality control issues ), but all can be changed or cleaned up to make the rifle shoot & when they do they usually shoot very well . SI defence are nice receivers . I have a CMMG lower with a SI Defence upper & its very nice ,but doesn't like the new Pmags for some reason . Bolt over & FTF with them, but likes DPMS & CProducts mags & runs with them 100 %. This is some thing I am looking into when I get a chance. If you are building , ya really can't go wrong with any of your choices ,as long as its put together right . I'm not familiar with RRA rifles . Others will have to comment on them .
  14. Look closely & you can see how they changed the sight.
  15. Man , is this trigger is sweet ! I may have to get a couple more. I still will be sending my trigger I just put in the POF gen.II lower for the 300BLK to Bill Springfield for his work . Bill does fantastic work ,but this Geissele is some thing else . The price keeps me from putting this trigger in all my AR's . I will put one in my other AR 308 . It took me almost two years to pick a trigger & I'm satisfied I made the right choice . I should of took photo's of the process ,but there's not much to swapping out triggers & hammers.
  16. A 50 year old shooter at the FOP range I shoot at, accidentally shot & killed himself yesterday while shooting at the range . Fellow shooters found him lying on the ground & called 911. I mostly shoot on week days & in the morning( like him ) & probably met him at some point . I took Monday off to got to the meeting to see whats up, will keep all informed .
  17. I see the other thread was old, so I will start a new one on the trigger I just got . I am going to put it in my 20" 308 & we will see how she does. Now I have a trigger set up for my 300BLK lower (from the 20"308 of course ) And I still have three test samples from Imschur to finish off . Just took me long enough to pick a system .
  18. Since this cartridge is in its infancy still , the potential or its lack of ,is still out there . I have never been interested in any wild cat cartridge until the 300BLK came out . I just have this feeling about it & ya can't go wrong with a .30 cal bullet. As far as bullets , this cartridge is never going to be a speed demon . That's OK with me . I now know its limitations & will work with bullets already available to get the most from them . I know the 300 Whisper has been around ,but never paid much attention to it .
  19. Didn't he do that with a gas tube pin ? <laughs>
  20. Got the front sight & its got an adj. tool with it , photo's tomorrow .
  21. You also have to remember that they put a finnish on the lower/upper when it is done with the machining & cleaning process.
  22. I looked into that "bullet Button " & I can see no problem with its function , since you are using the normal mag catch . The only thing I can see that could be a problem is spring pressure on the catch , but that could also happen with the stock set up . I need to look into the receivers & there specs'
  23. Nice set up , I like the looks of the hand guard. I got the brass from CMMG of all places & I think I put a link in one of the threads ,maybe the reloading section . I have been working seven days a week & took a week out of town off , so I have to get busy loading ammo for accuracy loading.
  24. The freezer trick is good & you can always oil the pins before they are put in the freezer. I believe the pins already have tapered (rounded )ends (maybe not the ones that come with the Geissel ). The pins should be tight (snug )in the receiver. That's whats keeps them from rotating with the moving parts(hammer ,trigger ) Polishing may help , as said.
