Do you want me to send it to ya , because it might come out better . I printed it & scanned it , because I didn't know how to put a file like that on here , I not much good with this computer stuff.

They both look cool . Both methods are to reduce weight & other than the cool factor , not much else .

I bought a POF lower , there newer type & built a 300BLK rifle around there lower & upper receivers . There new Billet lower has a ambidextrous bolt release & comes with all the necessary parts for the right side release mechanism. It takes a threaded pin for the the attachment of the pivot pin for the lever for right side & takes the same pin type for the left side bolt stop ,just like the ones we use for our AR 308's . Well my lower came with the pin for the extra lever for the right side ,but not the left side . I used an extra S/S pin I had from SI Defence & it works, but the some threaded part of the pin sticks out from the pin hole . I emailed them & they got right back & said they would send me the pin free of charge . I just have to give them an good word . <thumbsup> POF

I'm trying to follow you on this gas block dia. thing . If the barrel takes a .625 dia ,bore , gas block ( Not sure I've seen one that small for a .30 cal ) but if the barrel is set up for that .625 gas block , it has to go over the barrel to go on there , of course with out any muzzle device attached . All this talk about gas length , the gas hole dia has a lot to do with it also & as said the .308 has a lot of power & pressure to play with. Fulton Armory would not sell rifles made to the 16" rifle length gas system ,if it didn't work , those people pretty much know what they are doing with .30 cal. rifles .IMO

What do you expect from a puppet ! I just wish I could see the strings move.

The 0.154 is what DPMS types will use , pretty much std for any thing but, Colt rifles .

If you want this file , let me know & I will send it to ya.

Even on my Dillon , I size the cases in one operation ,then trim ,debur & since I have them in my hand ,I use my Lee priming tool to prime them & then I use the progressive Dillon to charge ,seat the bullet & taper crimp . I have some say " why not use the Dillon to prime " I tell them I can do it faster & have more feel with the Lee. Its just me , loading bottle neck rifle cases ,its just not like stright wall case(mostly pistol ) reloading, .

Here's some good info on head spacing & cartridge overall length (COL ) Hope it comes out OK . See below.
-
I was the same way for over thirty years , but I'm staying with the Dillon spray on lube now . Its just ten times faster & also ten times easier.
-
I am going to put some info on head space & COL (cartridge overall length)in a new thread in the reloading section for all to read , it may answer all your questions , maybe not specifically the 300BLK ,but at least you will know some thing more about it & come up with safer loads .

Be careful , just because you can get an OAL close to the mag space allowed , different bullets may not chamber because of how they are made . Make a dummy up to see if it will chamber with out pushing the bullet back or feed problems. Besides ,if the OAL of dummy rd. works , you can aways use it to set up your seating die in the future.

Interestingly enough, Wilson Combat 300BLK Barrels...

I wanted the heavy fluted myself ,but when it came time to order they only had the light wt. & I'm quite happy with the bbl.. It is nice to see a manufacturer say what will work & what won't . JGun , you will have to find the right combo of bullet & powder to make the PF , you are looking for . Just keep at it ,it will come to you . Then all you have to do is practice. Sounds like fun . -
Why, yes it is nice to see them at Brownells . I also got my 16",S/S HB on one of Fulton's sales .

Nothing like the first test fire , the anticipation gets you all worked up. <thumbsup> What's with the 45 deg. safty , is the receiver made that way or just the safty or both ?

I really don't care if the military adopts it or not , that's not why I or any that I have talked to about it have chosen to work a rifle around this caliber. If you look around , the name brand manufacturers of the barrels for this caliber are back ordered for quite some time . Every day you see another manufacturer come out with die sets or ammo for this caliber . Its not about the military to every one , some want to hunt with a AR type rifle & this caliber fits the bill . Sure you can lug around a ten pound + AR308 ,but in the 300BLK configurations , its light weight makes it a dream to handle & carrie. Now where this caliber does out shine any thing the military has in its arsenal is when using a suppressor ,its deadly quit & shooting a 220 gr. bullet . For silent CQB ,its the ticket for the military or LE . You will see it used for that because I believe it is what it was designed for . Our use for target or hunting is just an added benefit .

I also use a Redding PM & its very good dispensing most powders , some powders don't work in just about any PM. The COL of the round will be determaned by bullet configuration . You want it close to the rifling but not on top of it . The lighter/shorter bullets , you don't have any thing stopping you with the COL , but getting into the heavies & there length will make it a problem . Not only in the chamber ,but in the mag. .The longer heavy bullets will get interference with the rib in a std. mag. if set up with too long of COL. You can make some dummy rds up with different COL & measure after test feeding into the chamber & if they don't have any marks from the lands , fail to feed or the bullet is pushed back farther into the case , you should be able to load a few test rounds to see how they work . The 300BLK has a longer free bore to the rifling & that gives you a little lee way. Are you using 5.56 cases or .223 ? The .223 will give you a hair more volume for powder. You have to also remember that the bullet has to be supported in the case properly also . If its not , on a auto feed type system can dislodge a bullet .

Now I have to look at my two bolts . One is from Fulton & the other is a DPMS .
-
Nice , I like that hand guard too. When I first shot this rifle complete ,I was wondering how the carbine buffer would work compared to the full length rifle buffer assem.. I had no problems with function , well I take that back , the one round that blew a primer was the last round in the mag & it failed to hold the bolt back ,but all others worked . AS far as optics , still not sure. Been looking though .

How far was your Chrono from the muzzle ? Muzzle blast can some times give false readings. I have been lucky with my chrono , I had my first shot the other day show 950fps & I knew it was wrong . I changed the battery in the Chrono & all went well after that . I would hand load your test rounds , not saying your powder measure is wrong ,but if it doesn't like the powder ,it could have metering problems . Some powders do that to them . By hand weighing your charges , you can have better consistency & you can fine tune the charge better.Than once you have your load down pat , use the powder measure to copy it . You can just add a few tenths of a grain at a time & see what happens . I load three rounds each of progressively larger loadings & then if I get pressure signs I stop & pull the bullets of those over the charge weight of the one that started to show the high pressure signs & just recharge /reload those.

Magpul ACS stock help?
survivalshop replied to Schwansonite's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
That is misleading to say the least . They are all extruded ,the milspec ,because of its dia. is a rolled thread & the commercial threads are cut with a die . This is aways a hot debate subject & I finally got a manufacturer to explain the difference on another forum . Unless you have one custom made with 7075 alum. , they are all the same . I have both & can't tell the difference. -
I can not say enough of , how much fun it is to shoot the 300BLK . This new set up has a different feel from the A2 stocked lower I first tested it with . I can feel a little more push ,but its still light even with the 150gr. bullets. The new type Smith Enterprises muzzle brake did its job & did it well . This is a very light weight rifle & except for a gentle push ,there was virtually no muzzle rise & I dumped a 20 rd. mag of 150 gainers & that was real nice . I normally test a build with five mags as fast as I can shoot & reload a mag. in the rifle , but not this rifle , mainly because I had to work up safe loads for this caliber , but with the dump of the 20 rounder , I feel good it will pass my function test . The Wilson bbl. is a 1-8 & I'm not sure what bullets its supposed to like but ,it seems to like all I have put through it so far. Decent groups , about a 2" moa rifle with the trigger & scope I have on there . When I start playing with OAL with these bullets ,& get a better trigger/scope ,it will do much better.

Range session today & have some results from my loads . This is the first rounds fired through this complete rifle with the POF lower & carbine buffer assembly, all new, never fired lower assembly. The trigger sucks ,the rings are too low now & I guess I can't expect much precision work from a old Turkey scope . 125 gr. Speer TNT bullets , cut down & formed LC brass, 19 grs. of H110 , AVG. Vol. -2179 fps , good load, not bad groups. 150gr. SP , Hornady bullets, cut down formed ,LC & Hornady brass, 16.6 grs. of H110. AVG.VOL. -1900 fps, not bad , had one blown primer ,but this brass has been abused in testing , all the rest of the brass looks good . 135 gr.,Sierra Match Kings, Remington , ACC 300 BLK brass, 17.2 grs. H110. AVG.VOL. -1993 fps. This bulllet is impressive , I will post a photo of the target of a 10 shot group . This bullet shot about 4" high , I had to adj. the scope to get them into the dot of the target, after that I had no problem with keeping them there ,even with this scope & trigger. After I shot the 10 shot group ,with the barrel hot after the shot string , I put four more rounds range to check Vol. & went from an avg. of 1977 to 2022 fps for an average with hot bbl. , I was not expecting that , the ammo was all hand weighed & seated the same . It was a 24 rd. test batch of the 135 gr. MK.bullet . Just some thing to think about .

Now I have to come up with some kind of optics that suites this cal..(and me of course ). Not sure if I want to go with a CQB type or just go all out hunting type . I look at this cal. to be a short range hunting( under 200 yrds ) or CQB type . I think the .30 cal. bullet choices make it just great for both ,so if I just put some kind of CQB ,lighted system on , it should be fine for hunting also , right ?
