Nice looking rifle, I like the color scheme . I plan on using the color on a 5.56 carbine I'm building .

This is the 100 yrd range bay of where I shoot. Its the longest I can shoot at this range. Its a FOP range & you can pretty much do what you want ,as long as its safe.

Using a Q-tip is not going to tell you accurately if the chamber is rough on a molecular level or how clean it is as far as the reaming process. You can look at your other rifles & see if it has the same polish or mirror like finish to it. Brass actually flow into every pore in the chamber when the cartridge fires off & with the proper timing (semi auto ) the brass has cooled enough to contract from the side walls of the chamber , than & only then will the case free up & be able to be extracted, but you probably already know this. The way I see it , you have one of two (or both) problems . The chamber is too rough to release the case properly or you are over gased & the timing is off or both . If you want to check your gas, you need to restrict the gas to the BCG, if you can't get a gas regulated gas block or gas tube , you can move your gas block forward , a couple of thousands ,at a time to pinch off the gas hole a little ,it won't take much. That will depend on how your gas block is attached . As far as round count , if your bolt is not seated yet ,it can also cause problems with timing of the gas system . -

DPMS chambers are notorious for being rough & causing the same problems you are having with your brass. Have you head spaced this rifles chamber ? I see on the two samples of your fired brass , the one one the left seems to show early signs of cratering . Have you chrono'ed any of your hand loads ? Also your round count is low & things may loosen up after more rounds , but I would still check head space & polish the chamber . It will hurt nothing if done correctly. -

Although I don't have the weight system ,just the spring in my 16",308 carbine , the spring did change my ejection pattern also. They all fall about a foot from my feet or bench, in a nice pile . I plan on getting the spring for my 20" rifle stocked 308. -
As said its a personal preference on the choice. I have two CTR stocked rifles ,one a 308 & the other ma 300 BLK. the CTR is a solid stock when clamped down . I also like the ACS ,but at the time or now ,I didn't need storage space for battery's & such, but it also has the same features as the CTR . The UBR is probably the nicest collapsible stock out there ,but ,it is on the heavy side & pricey side ,but also rock solid. I am not impressed with the ACE Socom. Although I have not owned one ,I know others that do ,so its up to you.

I'll be more interested in what effects it has on his brass & extractor . Timing or premature extraction can cause the problems he's having . Braking an extractor is on the extreme side of it . I would look into a tight or rough chamber also. Whats the round count through this rifle ? -
This new 300 Whisper ammo from Hornady is I think geared more toward the 300 BLK ,because of the popularity of the 300BLK . The 300 Whisper has been out for a long time & not many came out with any thing for it , unless they got permission from JD. They may be using the 300 whisper name tag for other reasons , who knows ,but we will find out . http://www.hornady.com/store/300-Whisper-110gr-vmax

Wonder how it will hold up with every day use & adverse weather conditions. It this the same stuff they use for factory coatings.

So you can't shot gun the upper & lower ,to clean & inspect. Like you said for a bench rifle ,that's not a problem . Service rifle ,well maybe & maybe not . I can see your point though . Is this what they were talking about that would help the guy who had the buffer stop getting beat up, because the BCG was too deep into the upper or what ever ? -
Magpul's ,I have both the Gen. I & II ,kinda diggen the new Gen. II's .They make the Gen.I's look real big.

Ya , matching the rail height will be more work than assembly, but do you really need them to match ,except for looks ? You seem to have found one to match from Midway . Try contacting the manufactures of the above list to see if they match up. -
Brownells has the 308 JP Low Mass BCG IN STOCK

Nice . I have no use for the low mass stuff, operationally ,I believe in more weight is better . Short bbl.'s may benefit with one though. -

Nikon scopes. As said the Buckmaster /Monarch . I also like Burris scopes. Do you want a two piece hand guard system ,that you can just replace the std. AR carbine hand guards ? -
For hunting ,it would be the .308 , of course. -More bullet choices for hunting ( a lot more ) . -Ballistics's, far superior in just about every way. -More plateform choices available for the .308 , for hunting. The 7.62x39 will work for hunting & I know they make a hollow point load for it , but how it performs ,well I can't say.
-
Sparingly ? <laughs> I still use the pad when making work up loads . I usually only make three of each load when working one up . Less bullets to pull .

Anyone had DPMS install a quad rail?
survivalshop replied to DMK's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
Find a gunsmith that does this kind of work & buy the rail you want & take them to him or send it some one to do it . You will find it is a very straight forward procedure to do your self , if you want to take on some thing like that . Having the special tools to install one your self ,means that later on ,if you want to change the bbl. , you already have the tools to do it your self . -
Strange to see this rifle type in Israel. If they are DPMS , that's says something about there rifles ,because they just don't buy cheap there.

The Superior shooting systems (Tubbs ) spring works very well .
