  1. Maybe he has something here! I was told by JP Enterprises the same thing about their bolt carrier assembly when I got it. I already had a Larue gas block that is non adjustable and did not want to change it out. They told me that if I used an adjustable gas block, you can turn down the gas blow back to only what is needed and it will reduce recoil to a minimum. I guess that is why they reduced the mass of the bolt carrier, so that not as much gas is needed to blow it back, therefore reducing recoil. I will get an adjustable and put it on and try it out and let you know the results for comparision.
  2. The Combat Engineer was not my dream job, I really did not like it. My intentions were very different and I did get started, but did not make it through the training the first time, due to foot injuries and they medicallly cut me from the school? Im not BSing, as I can show you the paperwork, but I made it to the first stage in Ft Bragg at the Special Forces school. Like I said though, never made it all the way through. That was my dream to go in and get the Green Beret, but that was cut short. That was the only time I ever scored perfect on the PT test, I was training my ass off at Ft Irwin. Now that I mentioned Ft Irwin, I am sure you know why I wanted to get the hell out of there!!!!!
  3. My 16" was tested and it is 1 coyote-OA at 300 yards!!! That is all I need!!!

  6. Short story on me. I joined the Army in Sept 1990 I was in Europe by Oct 1990 and touching down in Saudi Arabi in Nov 1990. How is that possible, I know someone is asking? I was in the National Guard for 6 years prior to joining the Army. So, I had all my training and did not have to go through Basic or AIT again. Once I got to Europe, I volunteered to go the the Gulf War and they sent me straight over? I was a Combat Engineer and they were sure lots of those guys were going to die taking all those mines out they layed out for us. Well, not many of them died at all prior to me getting there, so I volunteered yet again for anothther job? I was Door Gunner in a Blackhawk Helicopter!! I served with 4-1 Aviation out of Kansas, which is the the Big Red One for the people that do not know. I flew 177 hours in the Blackhawk. Although only 77 hours of that was during the 100 hr short War. Nothing like the battle that went on in Iraq and Afganistan now. I have alot of Respect for those men that went over to kick Saddams ass the second time and everyone that went to Afganistan. It was hell when I was there and looks to be even worse the second time. Anyway, we lost 1 helicopter out of fifteen and it had 2 pilots and 2 crewchiefs in it. One bunked right next to me and it was real weird not sitting there and listining to him play his guitar at night. Sorry, I was rambling!! Have a good one guys!!!

  13. Nice Paint!!!!!! Welcome to the forum!!!! Lets see more!!!!
  14. You can put on anything you want. But if you just want to take your handguards off and snap different ones back on, you are limited. I am not sure if the .308 nonfreefloat handguards are different than a typical AR15 handguard? A freefloat can be installed, but you will have to remove your existing handguard setup and barrel to install a freefloat and you will have to remove your front site tower. There are a few different versions out there for the .308 freefloat setup, you just have to figure out what you like. JP Enterprises, Daniel Defense and a few others.
  15. I have not heard much on any difference? I have the Mid-Length Gas system and I have had no problems!!! Also, Welcome to the forum, we like to see new faces!!!
  16. imschur posted while I was typing mine and he hit the nail on the head!!! I missed the part where you said you used a AR15 Carbine buffer!!! Change that out and lube it up and you should be good to go!!!
  17. I am not an expert on this, as I just finished my first build. But, I believe you are having the same problem I was having. I would put the .308 spring back in, as it is more than likely not the problem. I found that when this happened to me, I had to really clean the chamber up good or even give it a slight polish. I did this a couple of times and after about 50 rounds, I had no problems. It seemed as though the initial firing of the rifle really dumped alot of crap into the chamber and made it really tight. Also, really oil the bolt assembly up good before you fire it. This may not have to be done so much down the road, but the first 20-40 rounds it seems to help alot to break it in. Just my thought and what worked for me.
  18. Thanks Guys and I think I have found what I need!!!
