What I'm wanting to check is the outside measurements of the two mags. I received a mag that was supposed to be for the AR-10, but it does not want to fit into the rifle. So I was not sure if the DPMS version mag well is bigger to take the Magpul mags or not.
-
Can anybody measure and compare ArmaLite AR-10 Gen II magazine against a Magpul .308 magazine for me please? I do not have any Magpul mags or anything that they would go in.... BUT... I may have found something in my stash, that just might and I need to verify it first.

Alright, I know someone in here either has or knows information to acquire some M993 and M995 projectiles. I would like to get some for testing plates and effectiveness. So, other than what I found through Google at $43 a projectile.

Real life A2 rear sight experience
mrraley replied to Peachey's topic in Optics & Mounts, BUIS,Sights
Inside the windage knob "should" have been a hole with a ball bearing and a spring in it. That right there should have taken up any play that the screw would have had. With NM sights, there are 2 holes and 2 ball bearings and springs. -
This has always created discussions, arguments, and outright name calling. The best thing that I will tell you is this... If your barrel is marked 5.56, then use gauges marked 5.56, if the barrel is marked .223, use .223 gauges. That way there is less chance of self doubt or confusion. But like @98Z5V said, the difference is in the reamers. There is a tech note from ArmaLite that is in Tech Notes #4 about head spacing.

As these gents stated and the same thing I used to teach in my classes... The snake is good for a quick wipe when your in the field... BUT... nothing will replace a good cleaning with the proper tools. If your going to put that much time and money building or purchasing a rifle, why be a cheap ass when it comes time to taking care of it?

What's the smallest part you started a build with?
mrraley replied to Albroswift's topic in Building a .308AR
Well, no poop , there I was... Trying to make a deal on parts and find everything I wanted or needed to build any rifle I wanted by selling my soul. Then it happened, it was bought... and I fell into a career of fixing them, repairing them, building them, selling them and teaching mofo's about how to fix them. So there I was living the dream or someone else nightmare, getting paid to do what I liked best and traveling to other countries to do it too. Then it happened... the people that I had sold my soul to crushed it and tossed it to the side right before my eyes. Now I'm just a shell of what I used to be living vicarious through the lives of you all here today. BUT... to answer the question, that was posed to the group... What's the smallest part you started a build with? I would have to answer... my soul. -
I will say this.... When I was still working in the industry, if we had to clean a customers firearm in order to repair it, it was charged accordingly, and if I remember correctly shop fee was $90 an hour plus supplies. So oh ya, I would clean it and you would hate me the whole time I did it too. Because that military mind set of G.I. clean and ready for inspection just went to a whole new level. Then it was repaired or replaced and test fired and charged accordingly. Firearms left over 30 day became property of said establishment and were either sold or auctioned off to cover the bill. To this date I have two firearms that were left in my possession for repair and never picked up.

Not sure if anybody knew him or not. We had worked together for a brief time in 2006. In Memorial William Larson Sunday, June 30th, 2019 This morning we received some bad news. William Larson aka Iraqgunz from M4carbine.net passed away. I did not know him well, but had several interactions with him over the years. He was very well known in the industry and very well respected due to his knowledge and demeanor. Here are some words about him from one of his close friends. William Larson of Semper Paratus Arms passed away on Saturday, 29-June-2019. “A Veteran of the US Army and US Coast Guard with 10 years of service to our Great Nation, Will had deployed to Iraq in 2005 in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. He served as an Armorer and Instructor for the Department of Defense and well known private military companies. He also worked at highly respected companies such as BCM and SIONICS Weapon Systems. Will is best known for his Armorer’s Courses that he taught across the United States. These courses were universally praised for the breadth and depth of knowledge that he shared. Will’s no-nonsense demeanor, frankness and humor didn’t take long to endear him to people that may have known him by reputation. To those that know him and those that only knew him through the internet forums, his passing is both shocking and devastating. Our hearts are broken. Will had touched countless lives, many of whom he barely knew, that was Will. He helped both individuals and companies and never asked for anything in return. Many companies owe their existence and success to Will and his wisdom and knowledge has benefited many individuals that are completely unaware that the gear they use and trust have Will’s fingerprints on it. His contribution to the industry is immeasurable and he is impossible to replace. His passing is a great loss to his family and to those that know and love him in the industry. As a community, let’s come together and do something for a man that’s done so much for us. The immediate goal is to address the hospital bills and other arrangements for his family. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers and Thank You for contributing to the Memorial Fund.” He left behind a wife and children. They will need some help. If you want to contribute to the fund, visit The William Larson Memorial Fund on GoFundMe.
