Survival you outdid yourself brother! thanks for the effort.....so long story short..im sure there are many thousands of these rifles running just fine all over the place using what the factory intended. Its mostly when folks build one up and fall for the slick ad campaigns or the BS on the net.... just like when I was heavy into fishing...I had tackle boxes full of lures...some caught fish some didnt,but when I would walk the massive aisles in the fishing dept...I would buy more lures cause it was the latest and greatest. Its the same motto ....the fishing lure has to first catch the fisherman.... :) Wash

Tool is right on....if you watch the pof video or look at the install...the lip has to extend outward to make a shelf for the carrier to rest on...yours wont with it like you installed it..and the retainer pin should have been close to the end of the slot in the tube...and yes it does make a difference too late now though :) Wash

The only problemo ive ever had with an ar was a couple of years ago...been messin with em since 92. On a 6.8..the SOB wouldnt lock back on function check....new folks....alway always check this first...if it doesnt do it...stop right there and figure out whats wrong...so,this rifle wouldnt lock back..there's a post where I stated the bcg got stuck in the drywall after I launched it in a hissy fit...lol I had drilled out the gas port to proper size...knew the buffer and spring was right on but switched it all out...checked out the bcg...checked out the gas block/tube...still the same end results WTF? the last thing I checked was inside length of the ebay bought buffer tube....yep...out of spec...too short So, word to the wise...dont buy parts off of ebay..there are too many fine upstanding places to purchase...rather than ebay...those damn corksoakers :) Wash

Hi Sarge Thanks for your service! welcome aboard...nice weapon! heck no..you arnt limited...all of my 308's are 16" cept one 18" and it stays home a lot....my range only goes to 500 and the 16''s will do the deed. I shoot a lot of privi match 168 gr cause its reasonable bout 16/17 a box....but mine also like 150 gr stuff too.... try some different grain ammo and see what it likes go here ammoseek.com for the cheapest pricing on ammo.....I shy away from cheap steel cased stuff though...run the rifle wet when breaking in :) Wash
