  1. Howdy from Big D :) Wash
  2. Hi Jangles After I tighten down the barrel with the gas tube installed and the gas block installed(tightened down). I take the upper with the installed barrel out of the upper claw(vise)...then hold the barrel vertical muzzle down and drop the lubed up bcg/charging handle into the upper and watch it slam down on the lugs proving the gas tube is straight...it prolly wont go into battery using gravity, but it will prove out that the gas tube is lined up :) Wash
  3. Whew ! Thanks guys...you know ive got the same exact combo on two other weapons and dont remember the pri having this problemo....we backed it on/off with moly and lube ,but geez I know its not cross threaded...you could see the threads had turned a different color telling me the coating was being taken off the barrel.. and oh so tight! We used the timing shims...yes they are a pain! :) Wash
  4. Amen to that! Topshelf weapons deserve brass for breakfast, lunch and dinner :) Wash
  5. Oopsies....Yep thats what I meant ;) Wash
  6. Yes they were Wash
  7. Hi Guys I probably have answered my own question but here goes. when we went to screw on the PRI muzzle brake it didnt want to freely turn . we had moly grease and a lil oil on the muzzle threads and a lil inside the comp....I think its the fact that they have anodized both the pri and the barrel that this causes the interference? I know we didnt have it cross threaded, but geez at one point it even squeeked.....we backed it out, then went forward a number of times...I just dont remember ever having this happened on my other two builds? Did we screw the pooch? <dontknow> Wash
  8. Welcome aboard! <thumbsup> Wash
  9. Imschur same thing happened to me on the second ma 10 build.... I couldnt for the life of me get the pin thru the gas block...ruined the pin and almost get it stuck in the block....so after close inspection of the block ..the gas block hole was drilled at funky angle....there was no way a pin was going to go thru the tube and then come out the other side of the gas block <dontknow> Wash
  10. Been there....done that! 8) Wash
  11. Hi Guys My best Bud came over Sunday to build up his mega ma10... this build is just like my other two 308's..so you know your either too old or justa complete dumbazz when this happens to you <lmao> okay...so we were out out in the garage fitting the barrel to the upper with gas block/gas tube...the gas block wasnt tight on the barrel...but the barrel nut was tight...so he goes back into the house for something and I was talking to him as he went inside... I then turned back around to the workbench to put the gas tube thru the barrel nut...and guess what? The gas tube/gas block was gone! Im frantic looking for the gas tube before he gets back...nope cant find it <dontknow> He comes back out to the garage ,and I tell him the gas tube is missing! I guess we spent 20 mins looking for the gas tube/gas block we looked everywhere even went into the house, but I knew it wasnt there cause I never moved from where I was standing...well after tearing up the place I went to go look under the workbench..the gastube/gas block was on the barrel , it had flipped to the bottom of the barrel....and we were looking for the tube and not seeing the gasblock on the barrel <lmao> Geez <laughs> Wash
  12. Hi JM I wish him well! The words you spoke are wonderful! Wash
  13. Hi JM Yes I lawyered up..then he did...then my best friend and lawyer found out that he was terminally ill...so I just took my licks on that :'( Wash

  16. Hi 98Z Yep, I was floored when I heard that sound on the dyno as I was waliking in....and then saw it was my car! guess what? the owner of the shop wouldnt make it good either! I ate the whole enchalada! So,tell me bout those sweet bike motors you posted :) Wash
  17. Thanks JM The 350 remained stock for bout six weeks until I put heads and cam in it :) So then I took it out and raplaced it with a darton block 427. that motor crapped out on the chassis dyno when the tech ran it out of oil pressure due to him replacing the cam and blocking off the main oil galley by fifty percent when he put the timing chain standoff upside down on the front of the block...I was walking into the shop when I heard it...YIKES..soo long story short its got a 402 stroker in it...used a ls2 block with the crank ,rods, and heads off the 427. The lil 402 actually runs pretty good for a six speed....got a built tranny and a built rear puts a lil over 500hp to the ground on a chassis dyno.. runs 10.9's at 129 all day long. Got a 150 shot on it <laughs> but have only used it twice...scared the crap out of me <lmao> Wash
  18. Hiya Heres another wrench that works fine on my troy barrel nut...I purchased this one at a gun show after one of the oh so brittle pins snapped off the dpms wrench Wash http://www.thewilderness.com/storepinnacle/index.php?p=product&id=2773&parent=212
  19. Hiya ! Put one round in the mag and see if locks back...to confirm shortstroking or not? that would be my first step :)Wash
  20. No pics? Nah didnt happen <laughs> Wash
  21. Hiya ive got two trx rails on my two 308's and the barrel nut in your picture is just like mine. I used the dpms/ar10 wrench like this <thumbsup> Wash http://www.operationparts.com/Brownell_s_Dpms_Ar_Style_308_Barrel_Nut_Wrench_p/231-000-230.htm
  22. Heck Yes! Nascar is my fav...but NHRA is a close second! Ran a Blown gas drag boat back in the 80's...and now I take "lil red" out once and a while, and go spank the youngsters :) Wash
  23. Welcome aboard! Wash
  24. Hi JM very very nice! Wash
  25. <laughs> Dadgum sorry <laughs> Me and my big mouth I knew I shouldnt have even repsonded to that post <laughs> and I was wrong too! southwest ammo has new ammo they make.. their 168grain match is only 18.50 verses 17.99 for FGMM from Palmetto State, so I save 51 cents a box...pretty good math I think <lmao> Wash
