RRA Lar-8 .308 Elite operator.
RayGun19 replied to redneckchewbacca's topic in Rock River Arms LAR-8
Did you get it, or just order it? If you ordered it, good luck on getting one this year. If you haven't ordered it yet, do yourself a favor and order an Armalite AR10 instead. You'll have it in 2 weeks, and there are PLENTY of options you can swap onto that platform. If you don't believe me, do a search on here on RRA. -
Obama To Unveil Gun Control Reforms In Near Future
RayGun19 replied to imschur's topic in Firearm Industry News and Gossip
Ahhh yes, Sheeple are much easier to herd than armed Citizens of a free Republic. -
The AAC one is the one I have on my AR10, and although we can't own cans in the Socialist Republic of Illinois, I love it. It performs just like AAC says it will. My AR10 with NATO ammo has less recoil than the wifes M4 with a flash hider. That is, until the local armorer installs her AAC Blackout brake. <thumbsup>

Obama To Unveil Gun Control Reforms In Near Future

Here we go again. <munch> When will the fed start working on the CRIMINALS and STOP working against the LAW ABIDING PUBLIC? -
That's what I run. Only rifle length. And I LOVE it. Light weight, I can move the polymer rail sections or remove them as needed. I can add more if I want to Barbie out my rifle too. They also offer a slick rail set specifically for those that want to run a light and/or laser combo with remote switch. And NO ARMORER needed.

Well, I don't want them to lose money. It's a great deal regardless. But I do wish I'd ordered mine already. ;) I'm glad you were happy with my recommendation. I'm not always right, but I have a habit of when I am, it's the nail on the head kind. <thumbsup>

When I was a kid, I loved Independence Day. The parade in the neighboring town. The local NG unit would roll out their M60 tanks, and they even have a few half-tracks left over. BBQ's. Then fireworks at night over in Silver Lake. Then marsh mellows by the camp fire in the back yard. Tomorrow I'm concerned that the "haji's" have been too quite. (pardon me if "haji" isn't a term you like.) I can't think how crappy it is that now, I can't help but wonder if I should attend any large gatherings, like on Independence Day. No better time to sucker punch the sheeple here in the U.S. than on a day when it would sting the most. I spent four tours over there. And know the unspeakable crap they do to each other, let alone someone they all (or most of them together) hate. I'm not one to be paranoid mind you. But I live near Chicago. Their population has grown pretty quickly in the last few years around here. They're even starting to move into my town. They're building the THIRD mosque within the township limits. I hope we all have a SAFE and UNEVENTFUL Independence Day tomorrow. DOWN THE BRITISH! ;)

For a trigger, Gieselle SSA from B.A.D. in combo with their A.S.S. And if you use their promo code on here, it's CHEAP and free shipping. Just an awesome combo. And you can't argue with a trigger SOCOM uses.

No. I wish I had though. I'm shooting for (no pun intended) Tuesday. Holiday weekends are fraught with too many shooters on any range. Tuesday I have off and there will more than likely be no one there at all. Just me and a buddy, and hopefully my wife with her new M4. I'll get some photographs and post them.

All good points guys. But again, if it doesn't weigh less and do the job better, I see no point in it. My AR10A4C is not that much longer than the typical M4 (like 2-3 inches maybe). And when I was in, I cleared plenty of structures with my trusty M4 with no complaints. I would think, and again IMHO, the the add muzzle jump as well as a slower magazine change (at least I would think so.) would just make me not want it in the field. Heavier, lengthened recovery time to get back on target or go to the next, and the slower mag changes. That all adds up to no thanks. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Any redesign to a proven battlefield weapon should be limited to: lighter, faster recovery, more accurate, more punch, faster or not as often reloads, etc. And as for hearing loss. Damn. What did you say again? <laughs> Too many jets, guns, explosions, late night recon of local bars with loud music and drag racing. Huh? <lmao>

I'm not one for posting pictures online of my gear, but I suppose I could. I was able to make the modification to have rifle length hand guards on a carbine length barrel. And I LOVE IT. Is there a member in the cap and t-shirt business?
RayGun19 replied to imschur's topic in Club House
Whatever you do, get Hanes Beefy T's for the shirts. I get my company's line printed on them locally, and I have a few from when I opened 7 years ago. They are more gray than black now, but the shirts are fine, and the printing is crisp. http://www.angelfire.com/il2/smileydyes/ Her name is Monica. I jokingly call her "the hippy chick." great to deal with, good prices, and TOP QUALITY printing. Just in case you don't find someone on here. I'd be happy to liaison for you guys. -
AC-130's doing 24 hr. strafing runs on all roads leading out of Iran, as well as A10's doing a little "bridge demolition" should do the trick. Just say'n. <thumbsup>

I had a chance to handle the Kel-Tec RFB recently at the shop I go to. Heavy, European style magazine (but then, the M-14 is too), and it you get a double feed, you're taking the rifle apart. And I'm not too keen on how it doesn't eject one case for every round loaded. There can be up to 3-4 spent cases in the "ejection tube" at any given time. And for as heavy as it is, the muzzle jump seems inordinate for the caliber. I think a bullpup 7.62 might fall under the "just because you can doesn't mean you should" category. Sometimes that muzzle being out in front of you a ways is a good thing. IMHO, if you need something short and meaty for building entries, etc., take a BAZ-45 or a UMP 45. Nothing says Room Broom like a .45ACP SMG. My feeling is that too many times today the manufacturers try to make every weapon and "everything" weapon. ;)

Well, in the Socialist Republic of Illinois, you'd be arrested (for "brandishing a firearm"), I'm sure the State directed "independent" new agencies would lambaste you endlessly, and there could even be the possibility of being tared and feathered. Oh, and the State would use your neglegence as one more reason to publicly publish the FOID (Firearms Owners ID) car holders information. They've wanted to make public record for years who has a FOID card (needed to own, purchase or posses a firearm or ammunition). You know, so the criminals know who's house to burglarize to arm themselves. I think that's what would happen if a private citizen did this in Illinois. And I agree, what cop looks over at his empty rack on the dash and thinks nothing of it. I remember a kid who "lost" his rifle at Benning in Infantry Basic. We all did push ups with full packs for over an hour while he "thought about where it might be." NO ONE lost anything after that. My rifle never left my person unless I was handing it to the armorer.

I was just thinking about my buddy Butch, and the wisdom he imparted to me one day. "You get no diploma from the school of life, but the lessons you learn there you never forget." You offered your help to your buddy. He didn't take it. His loss.

You're lucky. I ended up canceling the order, selling all my FN magazines, and ordering an AR10 from Armalite. Had that in 2 weeks time. STILL waiting on my wives upper from them. Over 60 days now AFTER they sent the wrong upper (that was scratched on the LH side of the receiver) AND they wouldn't take it back!!!!!!! The gun shop was nice enough to just handle it, rather than force me to take it and deal with RRA. If she's happy with her's, we'll keep it. If not, we'll sell in this Winter and order another Armalite for her. BS BS BS. I don't understand how they are even in business. I wonder if they are taking money from customers now in order to fill orders from customer from a while ago. I've known businesses that have done that. And they swirl the bowl like that for a while before just going down the drain for good and screwing the last few poor saps that place orders. Armalite for me from now on!!

I was going to say something similar bgc. Menacing. I wonder if people say that about the thugs selling drugs on the corner? Or maybe when someone sees a muslim standing by an airport or train station? "I saw a MENACING middle-eastern man by the airport today."

Get the HK USP. I LOVE mine. The only complaint I have is the HK tactical target sights are ALL black. I don't think I'd want a three white dot affair, but I sure would like tritium lamps in them. I've been meaning to call Trijicon and see if I could send them my sights and have lamps installed in the stock sights. Other than that, tack driver right out of the box.
-
Hahahaha. I just got done with mine. I don't have online photographs though. If you PM me your cell, I can text you a pic.
-
I think you should just give your AR10 to me. Although I'm not sure what I would do with 2 of them. <laughs>
-
Yeah. Mine has an HK USP45, M4 with TA31ECOS ACOG and goes to practical rifle/combat shoots with me. All that in 36x28x34 and 5'2". KEEPER for sure. <thumbsup> I can't even imagine having a wife that didn't like me having firearms.

Well, depending on what you do for a living, and how close you are with your wife, I have a spare room. <lmao>
