  4. Welcome from AZ ! There is a wealth of information here.
  5. Great advice from our guys ! Start with single stage, learn the craft brfore you upgrade to a progressive press. read as much as you can and buy a couple of manuals. When reloading please pay attention and dont be distracted.
  6. Using the dog to fight the crowds a novel concept. <thumbsup>
  7. When SOCOM gets the ammo filtered down the public, the price of that 300Blackout round will be just like the 6.8spc ammo. NOT CHEAP and SCARCE !
  8. Subsonic rounds are effective in handguns. Rifle ammo is tricky and ineffective at distance, accuracy is inconsistance because the variation in the speed of the bullet. The subsonic round is quieter than a supersonic round and will disguised the location of the gun shot. A Silencer is still a must have item, not needing one is pure BS ! I have been working on subsonic 9mm and 40s&w rounds and they are fairly accurate up to 50 yards. There is alot of info on 223/556 subsonic ammo but the larger case ammo doesn't work well without case fillers.
  9. Seasprite try the round robin shooting method on those rounds you loaded up tommorrow. It is supposed to be the fastest and most accurate way to get a sweet spot on your loads. Good luck.
  10. One of my boys at work got a deer over the weekend with a 300wsm at 25 yards , he hit it in the neck and said it blead out in about 30 yards. We have been messin' with him calling him "Spike", "Broken Antler" and "Open Season Hunter" because the deer was a 2 X 1. Saw the pics, he said it weighed 85 lbs after it was gutted.

  12. Round Robin Method is the key to this. First round of each test group is fired before the second shot is fired from any group.

  14. Two dinners , 1st - cooked at home a 12lb ham. 2nd - cooked to take to family get together , my 19 spice Lasagna Mmmm ! ;D
  15. I beleive the trigger causes a large variation of shots. The 3" inch group basline is the triggers fault, slight movement when shooting. Not a big deal ! On the PMC ammo they are loaded with different powder amounts with the different lines of products. I like the PMC Bronze as a cheap plinking ammo. My guns like different weight bullets the 16"DPMS likes 150gr the 20" DPMS likes 168gr the 24" DPMS likes 180gr. Also soft point bullets dont seem as accurate as the OTM or hollow point bullets. As far as the scope ,check the mounts FIRST !
  16. It was like that for me in Washington , they would eat apples off the trees in the yard but come hunting season they were as elusive as bigfoot !
  17. I swapped out the AR-22 BCG from the lightweight 16" w/the Plumcrazy lower to the 7.5" AR pistol w/the Plumcrazy pistol stock and vice versa. I feel like I improved both guns ! <thumbsup>
  18. Shot it down like a Mig over enemy territory ! Damn Spies !
  19. Best way to find out for sure is to sacrifice one and pull the bullet from the case. Weigh the bullet and powder. Only know of three weights of surplus ammo 147gr, 150gr and 175gr.
  20. Welcome from AZ ! <thumbsup>
  21. Loaded 20 Sierra GameKing 180gr with 47.0gr of H4350, CCI 200 primer in 1X Win cases to a height of 2.800" to 2.810". The bullet is 1.2820" with a boat tail profile and a soft lead point. I'll save this for the next trip to the desert. Need to get a better range finder the one we use is good for 800 yards.
  22. I just want him to order the right parts {same height Upper to Rail } then the low/micro gas block which will fit under it. Was reading the other thread over and found the answer on page two, even though jon didn't post a pic. The solution... SELL the High upper receiver(old model) and BUY the Low upper receiver then you can put the Troy rail your mind is set on. It goes for $210 with charging handle ,less w/out.
  23. Mike, he has another thread that explains the other stuff. Been following the other thread.
  24. Here are some examples of rails... First 3 are Troy last 2 are JSE. They are rifle length 12" to 13.8", you can put a low profile gas block under/inside them to get the 3-Gunner look. Is this what you are after?
