Someone asked me about the manufacture of the barrel on my 6.8 rifle. Its a McGowen.

I shot the Hornady 60gr SP and the 55gr SP last weekend out of Vera in the "slow" bumpfire mode and it all cycled. I hit the steel at 100 yards a few times but didn't really care !

Picked up a box of 50 Speer 220gr HCRN 30 cal bullets. I will load 20 in the 300wsm cartridge and 30 in the 308 cartridge.

I use walnut or corn media to tumble my rifle brass. I also wash my pistol cases. Just started experimenting washing rifle cases in the solution which has worked very well with my pistol brass.

I'm about 20 miles from Sky Harbor airport which is in the center of the Valley of the Sun. Tucson is about 100 miles south of Phoenix. Marana is on the north end of Tucson.

That way I can get my neice's husband out there shooting with us.

The most interesting part of the shoot was when Rob gave Sig P220 pistol operational demonstration to the military boys. Everyone was watching and paying complete attention the whole time, group of maybe 20+ free lessons. One of the guys said while looking at Tom's table, "They got better stuff then we do !"

Deprimed all the 308 brass from the weekend shoot on Wednesday. Yesterday I ran two batches of 75 casings each with 308 brass , the cleaning solution worked great. Used a test tube scrubber on the rifle casings during the rinse then Q-tipped the primer pockets and let them dry all day.Trimmed and I/O champhered then added primers last night after work, ready to load. Turned out great !

Solution mix : 1 oz Ammonia 2 oz Vinegar 2 oz Lemon Juice 1 oz CLR or The Works calcium lime remover 1 oz Joy or Dawn enough water to cover the brass casings in the 64 oz jar.

I bought a paint product which charges with sunlight and glows in the dark. It is applied in the clear coats, it is in powder form and sold by the oz. Life span is under two years. I beleive the product name is Nite-Glow. You could coat the post on you sight with it.

Ok ... Yes I knew about the Ammonia, the key is exposure time and neutralization of the solution on the brass. Once it is rinsed it should be ok. NH3 is in so many cleaning products, just read the labels. I have read about various cleaning solutions on a bunch of different forums. Been using about 1 once of ammonia in a 64 oz jug.

Ok guys I DEPRIMED some 10mm ,7.62 x 39 , 6.8mm spc & 300wsm. Then washed them. Turned out great , shiney and spotless. I'm bringing this up because I have been washing my pistol caliber casings for a while and experimenting with cleaning solutions. I have been using a wide mouth plastic bottle and filling it with ammonia, vinegar, lemon juice, CLR, dishwashing liquid and water. Shaking the bottle for 20 to 30 minutes and rinsing the cases once with Joy/Dawn ,then with water. I also clean the primer pocket with Q-tips. Then the casing are placed upside down in a tray to dry. I am still adjusting the mixture, some mixes clean better than others.

Edge, Do you have video of Tom & Rob shooting the slidefire ar ? They both manhandled Vera like she was a little B!tch.

Forgot to thank Rob for letting me shoot the 300AAC blackout. The AR-300WSM wasn't working well, it did not eject any cases. Accuracy was ok ,I hit the metal 2 times at 500 yards. After looking at Tom's AR-45 I am ready to go ahead and finish my 10mm AR project with the Olympic Arms Magazine. Just need to get the bolt and a couple of mags. Did make one mistake...Did not bring enough 223 Ammo ! Brought almost 500 rounds of 308 and only used 220 of it. Next time I will bring more 9mm & 223 plus a beta mag.
