Tight chamber ??????
-
Without looking at the brass it could be you need to CHAMFER your brass. The neck area is too wide and may be jamming into the walls of your chamber (tight chamber). Check to "feel" if your reloads catch your fingernail where the bullet meets the brass, is it smooth or a ridge ? The other possibility is the bullet is hitting the Lead area of the chamber but this is unlikely. Measure the diameter of a few rounds of your reloads. That is where I would look first.

When in doubt ...don't use them. Win WSP have never failed me in the 9mm and 40S&W , give them a try. I had a problem with CCI 34's & 41'S in the 6.8 Quentin upper switched to Win WSR & WLR primers and no more problems. I only use the Rem BR's in certain calibers but they work great. Mike H

Haven't shot any 308s yet, just 6.8 and 300wsm. The 6.8 load is just a starting point and I will be moving up, shot up one mag of 25 rounds 4 inch circle @100yards while doing a function test the scope is not sighted in yet. The 300wsm was a 92% load and hit a steel plate at 350 yards every time.

Mikedaddy's 300WSM AR or( Papa's got a new gun)
MikedaddyH replied to MikedaddyH's topic in Black Rifles
The 270WSM and the 300WSM are from the same parent shell casing, just necked different. The 7mmWSM is the other casing which shares the same specs. These are two separate rifle builds, I might share M7 lube. -
Are you sure it is "real" and not a tang ????? Find out its history, was it a WWII sovengier brought back by one of our troops. Look for markings like a stamp, Japanese symbol. That will deturmin if it has any value.

Update, Upper receiver modified for the wsm cases to eject properly. The extracture needs to be modified again at the bolt head. Sorry no pics of the mock up, tore it apart too quick. May have it ready to shoot in a couple of weeks.

JGUN, The case is larger (.555") rim is (.535"). Barrel extension, BAT through Brownells. Modified Bolt, Modified Pmag (10 + 1 ). This is the twin build of the Kyle Busch Gun (270wsm) all the parts are listed in that thread. -
Went to the range yesterday and did a function test, 1st clip 25rounds 4inch circle at about 10:30 centered 4 inches off bullseye. 2nd clip about the same in rapid fire, I was shooting Sierra Pro Hunter 110gr at 100yards. Need to zero in my cheap scope.

Mikedaddy's 300WSM AR or( Papa's got a new gun)
MikedaddyH replied to MikedaddyH's topic in Black Rifles
Went to the range today and shot a few rounds. the ejection port opening works but I might open it up .005' to .010" more. I am expereincing a Failure To Chamber condition every few rounds and it is the front edge of the extractor which will need to be milled a half a thousanth of a inch. Thats it. -

Glad I could be of service. The sad part of this is you will be spending more money there in the future. I have 8 boxes of the 40cal s&w ranger ammo in one of my ammo cases , I dont want to shoot it been using reloads. -
Welcome, from AZ. My godson is stationed at the Sub base there. I grew up in Snohomish a long time ago. I dont miss the rain at all.

OK....Then can I talk you into making an AR pistol in 9mm ;) Im thinking of making one out of "Plastic". err... Polymer ...upper and lower. Super lightweight ::) Get a plastic ProMag adapter for $60 and a Plastic lower for $40. There is a Carbon Fiber Upper out there. 8) Save the Hahn adapter for the 40S&w build. Yeah thats the ticket.
-
That just sucks ! The hahn adaptor is your ticket then. I am going to use mine on my 40S&W build or a 9mm ar pistol build. I have most of the parts for both builds except for BCG's. Can you use a CMMG dedicated lower ??? Found some for $237.

http://www.rockriverarms.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=386 The 9mm dedicated lower is what you NEED ! Here's 3 pics of mine.

DPMS ejection issue UPDATED
MikedaddyH replied to cbvanb's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
I have shot 200 rounds(of the DAG) with no problems but it has left the BCG and inside of the barrel dirty. I've got 200 rounds left in a sealed pack and will be saving that for a while. Also if the mark being left on the casing is coming from the upper reciever you could grind the offending spot away. If it is being caused by the ejector you might have to live with it or change the ejector spring. -
Plinker round - Win 55gr fmj - Win wsr - H4198,H322,H335 Target round - Hornady Match 68gr bthp match twist 1/ (7-10) #2278 22cal -Win wsr or CCI 41 - H335 Hope that is a starting point. 62gr bullets work great in my 1-9 barrel.

Saturday I Dremeled the upper receivers for the 270wsm & 300wsm. They are opened to .565" to .571". The top area is smooth and the groove the where the port door attaches to was worked around. The bottom area has a ramp where the square edge was. The ejection port door still operates ! Will coat the uppers with Aluminun Black next. Here are pics of the 300wsm upper. -
Got this gun back from my gunsmith Friday. The gas port has been enlarged and the brake aligned. Everything all loctited in place. Need to take it out this week and sight in the scope next.

Got a pound of IMR 8208 XBR and loaded rounds of 300wsm , 308win , 6.8spc . This powder meters better than all the other powders I have used. It has smaller size grandules. I shot 3 rounds earlier this week as a reduced load in the new AR300WSM a friend made up those rounds. Anyone else tried this powder ?
