  1. Dont laugh too much ! I will be doing a pink and a purple ar this year . For my daughters when they graduate from ASU. Based on Sun Devil upper/lower matched sets. and pistol grip and buttstock from that company that use to make carbon AR's in Mesa. I can get the matched sets for $309 each. Young BCG and Quad rail. Should be a pretty good gun. Just wonder what kind of looks I get when I am test firing it at the range. Oh yeah I have access to those pink glasses too ! <lmao> And a pink "The Gun Store hat." But the Charlie Sheen bunny slippers wont cut it . :cookoo:
  2. I dont think that was Federal GMM ammo. Wally world is known for selling lower grade product of the same brand.
  3. Try IMR 8208XBR it is a powder which will have a softer recoil. It can be loaded as low as 90 % and still be accurate. An old timer suggested using Trail Boss as a low recoil powder, he stated I could fill up the entire case and it would not have any high pressure situations. (This was for a different case 300wsm). I read an article in a gun mag about low recoil powders I'll find it and post the info later.
  4. Now you need to buy some 165gr ballistic tipped bullets, those destroy 2L bottles like no other ! So the chrono works , with out problems ?
  5. I saw a Armalite AR-10 chambered in 300 RSAUM it was camo'ed in desert sand color at a pawn shop they wanted $1500 for it. That inspired me to build a 300 WSM gun , it works now but a had a lot of little problems in the devlopement. The downside is it cost $2 a round to shoot. The range is 1200 yards and 10 mag is enough.
  6. Can someone post ALL the differences ? Chamber... Case... Projectial... Pressure...etc
  7. Its pretty cool to pick your serial numbers on lowers too !
  8. Took out the 9mm AR last week and dumped 400 rounds into a target at 50 yards. I had to adjust the sights the first shots were in the dirt at the base of the target. Towards the end of the day the wind was blowing the rounds 6" to 8" to the right. I had no problems with operations of the gun. When I cleaned it over the weekend the BCG was dirty( Nasty). I had used factory and reloads, all fmj rounds.
  9. Its nice to have freinds in the industry ! ;D
  10. Welcome, You mentioned a 300 Rem Saum , is that an AR Armalite or DPMS or a bolt action ?
  11. So you have never seen Sun Devil's colored inodized uppers and lowers. They have pink, purple, blue ,red and few other colors.
  12. Purple Rain version ! <laughs>
  13. SAA in Tacoma WA sells Aero Precision. Quetin Defense in Mesa AZ. Sun Devil in Mesa AZ. Cant give you a price but the SAA was about $100 the QD and SD were about $150.
  14. Hogan was one of the "Partners" of POF and they split up.
  15. I really like the fact that you built an ar pistol with a different caliber. <thumbsup> <thumbsup> The rail thats on your gun looks very nice, what brand is it ? Now you have to go shoot it !
  16. I was out at the range Monday from 11 am to 2 pm and it was 109* with gusts of dust, kinda like a sand blaster oven ! Yeah its a dry heat ( gritty )! Thats in the shade. 8) When I first moved to AZ back in 82' ,I was roofing in PHX and Tucson we didn't get off the roofs unless it got 165* on top. Now that was hot !!
  17. I've been having good luck with their 75gr BTHPs in the 5.56 guns. Love 'em. What is your load ? I made a box of these up using 23.5gr of Varget and Win WSR primers. I havent shot them yet , waiting for my 1-7 twist barrel to be finished.
  18. I made up a box of the Hornady Match 168gr BTHP #30501 with the amp jackets and shot it at over 700 yards it is a accurate bullet. I still have 80 rounds left made with Varget, Superformance & H414. I have used these in the 20" and 24' guns. I also had a box of the #30502 that i used a while ago, it had 43.0gr of Varget and Win WLR primers. Wasted it on 2ltr bottles.
  19. The Gun Store had a few cool guns , but mostly WW2 automatic weapons. I got some clothes and soveniers from them. Their prices were high. The Tommy gun was broke when I was there.
  20. There are better guns here than "The Gun Store" has in Vegas. Wonder if we could bring our own factory ammo ? I just wanna shoot a fully loaded Tommy Gun ! :auto:
  21. I 'm in... Win 70 300wsm hits on target at 700 yards. :D
  22. Seasprite, Are you trimming and champhering your brass before you reload the rounds ?? If not , this might be why the round is jammed into the chamber.
  23. You mean there are models I don't have to spend ALL my money on?! <dontknow> Jon Let me put it this way. With a 22lr a box of 300 to 500 rounds is less than $20. In 223/556 a box of 20 rounds is $6.99 to $10.99 . In 308 a box of 20 rounds is $11.99 to $22.99( but in your case its $42.99 for match ammo). In 6.8spc a box of 20 is $17.99 to $22.99 . If your shooting 9mm its about $16.99 for 50 rounds.
  24. I sort my brass by manufacturer, trim, prep then weigh in groups for the match ammo. On the plinking ammo I just trim and prep the brass.
  25. Thats great Archangel. Read as much as you can, get as much info as possible on each caliber being loaded. I have posted some good links about technique, read them. Get some cheap trimming tools, a decent digital scale and a digital micrometer. You can up grade later. LEE Precision has good basic parts. Most important dont be distracted when reloading !
