I've got 5 acres also, down here in Florida. But too many neighbors with livestock close by so I limit myself to occasional rimfire shooting in the backyard. Buddy of mine has 5 acres in the unimproved woods. We shoot everything out there.

Thank you Rob for opening my eyes. Because the charging stroke is so much shorter on the 22 I'd gotten it into my mind that the handle was shorter. I'd never bothered to check them side by side and believed I was forever stuck with the cheap plastic handle. Now that I know different I've ordered a Raptor and will JB Weld the channel like you did. I always get a childish thrill when I learn a new trick that improves a piece of equipment. I'd give you a big hug if I weren't so homophobic.

There's more to it than that. The 22 charging handle is much shorter than the 5.56 version. Rob, if mine breaks will you make me one of those baddass MFers?

And CMMG speaks so highly of you. Just pulled my CMMG 22 charging handle out and after about 5-6 years of use it shows no appreciable wear, just filth. You must've been slamming that little bugger like your life depended on it.

This is weird. I took the little SIG into the backyard for some function testing. It hated CCI Mini-Mags. Hung up constantly, couldn't get through a single magazine without 3 or 4 hangups. Then I tried the lowly, hated Remington Golden Bullets and the SIG ate them up like popcorn. Only malfunction was one round without primer, struck it on every side but no pop. I've never owned a 22 that preferred golden bullets over mini mags.
