  1. Most are from toms tannerite explosions
  2. I saw an article by some industry guy much smarter than me that talked about exactly what mrmackc described. Was trying to Google it up with no luck.
  3. Thanks wash! I also feel a little better now lol
  4. Nice! Slightly sloppy on the integration, but good effort. I have a vision for a "theme" AR. it will happen eventually, and it will be glorious.
  5. One quality gun is much nicer than two half finished or half asses guns. I would Shelf the other build and work on one. Combine your best parts. As funds become available divide that beast up like mitosis. It will cost less and be more satisfying in the long run.
  6. that's silly. Jus owning a piston AR gets you to 3rd base by default. Girls drop panties for seal guns.
  7. Back away from the dremel......slowly....
  8. I'm not a brand whore or anything, but a $150 scope is going to work like a $150 scope. If you can send it back, consider upping your budget a little. Especially for that high magnification range. Keep an eye on natchez shooting supply for good deals on refurbs and discontinued stuff. http://www.natchezss.com/6-24x50-ill-plex-classic-extreme.html http://www.natchezss.com/nikon-prostaff-5-3-5-14x40-bdc-refurb.html
  9. You don't have to justify spending too much money on a product with no clear benefit and a few minor shortcomings to us man...we love evil black rifles no matter what they look like on the inside. If you are still trying to convince yourself, than by All means continue. :)
  10. Just trolling you goose lol.
  11. Soooo....guess you don't need a piston gun at all now ;)
  12. That a B5 bravo? How tight is it? Any wiggle? Really considering one.
  13. Heck of a scope there!
  14. Just pimped one of those to a guy I work with. Perfect gun for keeping in the back of a closet and taking out to mag dump into a dirt pile twice a year
  15. Curious to see some links on this? I've heard of low background steel in the schoolhouse when I worked satcom, but never anything about it affecting the physical properties of the metal. Just that it is desirable is some scientific applications where background radiation levels may effect results
  16. Thanks Truman.

    Debate

I'm totally down for a steam powered AR.
  18. Good to hear. Not bad for $15.
  19. I also ordered 2 at the cheap price lol. That's why I'm interested in the review
  20. Is that slr the nasty brake? How's it feel? Recoil reduction? Are you going to keep it?

    Debate

From a personal standpoint: I like stuff simple. Between 6 AR style guns I have 2 stock types and 2 handguard systems. One grip. One sling style. If I had 10 more guns they would probably follow the formula. I try to avoid proprietary stuff. People say "more" reliable, but I have no issue with reliability on my standard guns, so "more" reliable than totally reliable seems like a sales pitch. From a functional standpoint: gas entering the carrier is what begins unlocking the bolt before it slams back. Not exactly sure if the factory piston setups address this, but the add on kits don't. A little more weight. Few more moving parts. Few more potential failure points. I honestly don't think these things are a huge deal, but worth pointing out. MY reason for avoiding them is pure preference. I don't think it's any better, Just different. KISS. don't complicate stuff with complicated stuff. If it ain't broke. Etc.
  22. Someone recently wondered what's wrong with piston guns. THAT is what's wrong with piston guns in general. When they decide on a standard, and I can get small parts from the local gun stores little parts box or swap parts between guns, I'll look into it. Hard enough to try and keep these 308s using common parts.
  23. Republican politicians only care about gun rights because it's one of the few things keeping them afloat. If they didn't have elections to worry about, they would be sending their minions to test your resolve without a second thought.
