  1. got her back today. all seems right. paperwork says faulty turret mechanism. says it was fully inspected and cleaned. I sent it without a battery and it came back without one. was kinda thinking they would toss in a fresh one for my inconvenience. wondering if they even bothered to test it. the instructions on the website say to send a MO for $15 for shipping along with it in case it's not covered under warrantee. I didn't send one and they didn't mention it. there was no correspondence either direction. they advised a 6 week repair window, and came in under that. I was planning on giving them a call this week but not necessary now. bottom line...scope was fixed. no extras, but no drama either. just cost me $10 for shipping. I'm satisfied pending range time.
  2. isn't the VA a single payer system? Hows that working out?
  3. the same people make the adaptor for the fuel filters, and even sell them as a package deal. as far as practicality....I doubt anyone would risk cleaning their guns with this system in public under normal circumstances. I'd guess it's more of a SHTF gun cleaning option. at that point...who really gives a crap what any gov. agency says.
  4. not that I disagree in this instance..but all the legal pot states defying federal law imply otherwise.
  5. interesting....this requires meditation...
  6. cool pic...but 2 suggestions. place the gun across the red/white only. the blue is too dark and muddies up the pic. second, download yourself a simple edit program. a hair more contrast and brightness would make that picture pop. I put a free one on my phone and a few quick touches do wonders. that fat weave looks awesome and comfy. excited to see round 2
  7. I would love a can, but it's not gonna happen until NFA goes away, and we all know that's never going to happen.
  8. dupe. and what a post to double up on lol. door knock in 3...2...1...
  9. so I guess you havnt seen the "solvent trap adaptors" for sale lately? mount an oil filter or commercial fuel filter on the end of your rifle to trap those nasty solvents while cleaning? not that I would have one of those for any reason...no way no how...
  10. funny you mention that...I think they fired him yesterday. confirmation will come Friday so we are holding off on the parade until it's a sure thing. they already changed all the door and alarm codes so it's looking good :)
  11. my work changed policy recently concerning our duty guns. I rumor mill says someone somewhere left his gun in his car and it was stolen. it's now a pain in the butt to bring it home. they want it locked, in a case, and signed out, and signed off by a supervisor. in reverse, our personal weapons need to be locked up in the vault during the day. this hassle has caused me to be unarmed to and from work lately. this article caused me to check that laziness. thanks again jon.
  12. I'm sure they knew....they just assumed (wrong as usual) it would be overlooked or ignored. they had visions of confetti falling from the rooftops as Obama stood proudly behind the returning hero. the Obama administration once again attempted a win win, and ended up with a loose loose.
  13. target sport USA just sent out an email. bunch of good 5.56 deals. 7.62 deals are meh. they are a little slow to ship, but it always gets here.
  14. that open carry group in TX is to gun rights what the westoro church is to Christians.
  15. don't sweat it man. you will probably have 2 or 3 more evolutions before you nail it.
  16. and as usual...it's backfiring. seeing more and more discussion online about what we are discussing here. another PR nightmare brought to you by the Barry administration. you can only polish a turd so much before it starts falling apart.
  17. as far as custom coated...I had a barrel machined. I painted it with a hi temp bake on engine paint and the stuff feels pretty tough and costs 7 bux a can. takes about a week to set up properly. there's also the usual gun coating home kits. you could probably do quite a few pieces for a low cost.
  18. I like GGG stuff alot....but id spend the $60 extra for a bobro every time. if you don't have the extra $60, don't eat lunch for the next 2 Weeks and buy it then. (that's how I make most of my upgrades, sometimes extending to skipped breakfasts as well :P )
  19. I think he's saying he pulled the pistol because the leather guy was working on the holster.
  20. I did that today. I do it too often. I always have that tiny voice telling me to run back in and grab it. thanks for posting.
  21. i think the plastic will work fine for some of us, but the metal will be an improvement for sure. Consider this forum your test bed toward making it big time! if the final draft gets the nod from guys like 98/stain/robo/edge, you know you are good to go.
  22. no "investigation" or media report know what happened out there better the guys he shared a tent with. those guys painted a dark picture of the situation from the start. whatever story comes out now, years later, while he's in the spotlight, is suspect.
  23. been staying out of this for the reason Jon pointed out. I remember when the guy went missing, there were some shady circumstances. not going to form an opinion yet.
  24. I had a MOE on the dissy. I never ran it really hard but it seemed to stay pretty cool. my old clark customs carbon tube sucked. it got uncomfortable after 2 quick mags.
  25. yes
