I think that quick release condition only refers to the factory models. Adding a QR to your 512 won't change the height. (unless you mean a whole QR base)

I had a Burris 3x for a while and just didn't like it. Made the gun feel top heavy. Made the ret. big. Id just get a low power variable if I wanted magnification.

Gotcha. Didn't think about the receivers needing to be coated for bed results. Makes sense.

I bubbad a m44 when they we're $60. Doesn't look too silly but I wish I left it alone. That was before "the ebr disease" infected me. I do still have a normal one though so not a big deal.

For some reason I just didn't like the way that comp looked. Never fired it. Sold it to a buddy and just have a birdcage on there for now. Probably stick a vortex or aac FH on there at some point. Just using standard buffers in all my guns. Havnt found any reason to replace them yet. One thing about that comp...it wouldn't flush up to the shoulder of the barrel. Either had to use a shim, a crush washer, or deal with the gap. I think any .75OD muzzle device should be able to close the gap.

I spent money on a "normal" trigger instead. I'll see how you folks like it before I jump in.

I think they still make it. It makes sense for a pure target gun using some massive 50+ mm objective scope. Just sucks for us tacticool types lol.

I've been wanting to do an az build. Was looking at aza lower for the cool roll mark, but this might be the one.

DPMS does make a quad rail for that monster....but it's not very popular, or practical. Scopes or irons would be way over bore. I feel your pain...I had one and wanted to mod it. In the end you are better off swapping.
