Sadly those within the shooting community are biased against the AR as a hunting rifle. My partner in our "hunting safety course" gives me that vibe. Last class I took my M5 and did't have a chance to explain the "principals of operation". The DNR office came to answer questions of rules and legalities of hunting. She also shows a video titled " It's only a 22" where in the end a kid that took out a 10-22 without his fathers approval, slipps and falls while carrying the loaded rifle. The round hit the other kid and lacerates the liver causing his death at 14 years old. I showed her my rifle and she likey. I will take it to my next class and make sure that I give an overview of the AR platform.
