  1. This should probably be in the Gear & Accessories section...but The Howard Leight electronic muffs are the best bang for the buck out there. And they now have a "deluxe" version that blocks out 30db. The new "deluxe": http://www.amazon.com/Honeywell-R-01902-Electronic-Shooting-Earmuffs/dp/B007BGSI5U/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1411054086&sr=8-3&keywords=howard+leight+impact+sport The original: http://www.amazon.com/Howard-Leight-R-01526-Electronic-Earmuff/dp/B001T7QJ9O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1411054123&sr=8-1&keywords=howard+leight+impact+sport
  2. Offered this training too, to a different school after Virginia Tech. The school facilities and staffing situation was IDEAL for a swift neutralization of threats, with minimum risk to the children. Received like free dog crap with chocolate on top. The sales pitch needs to be have retirees...with time and LOTS of training...serve as volunteers in a First Responder role. "But if everyone shuns violence, then violence will stop. Kumbiya!"
  3. /\/\/\/\ <lmao>
  4. Tom is retired...he can maintain it full time while everyone else learns to drive it. <laughs>
  5. What is it anti-gunners complain? Firearms incidents are a burden monitarily on police, EMS, the medical system, lost production, etc. I've said for years that firearms training should be tax deductable...take it right off the top if it is such a burden. And if they were really worried about people not getting hurt.
  6. I agree...we need to build one, sponsored by 308AR!
  7. Bwwaaawwwk bwok-bwok-bwok!!
  8. Grew up with some friends whose parents had Perazzis, Kreighoffs, and Purdys. And Parkers, Berettas, Remingtons, and Winchesters. When they invited me to skeet shoot the first time, I said I didn't have a decent shotgun. They said "We have something that will fit you. Far too many people at the club have expensive guns and can't shoot. Worry about you and not the shotgun."
  9. Forgot about that part. While field stripping my LC9 one day, the...er...uh...the magazine disconnect safety fell out. Nice smooth 5# pull now, so I didn't replace it.
  10. This looks like a good place to post this review of a different product. Here's the whole review: http://www.tickld.com/x/the-best-amazon-review-ever-this-man-is-hilarious
  11. Nice! I have one of the LC9 originals and was happy to see them come out with the S-version.
  12. Certainly Remington didn't get the M4 contract with billet lowers? <dontknow>
  13. THAT would be kickass!
  14. What about Remington?
  15. In response to the PLO attacks on schools (one or two terrorists with AKs and or grenades, charge into the school and kill as many children as possible), teams of 2-4 parents at each entrance to the school property. I'm not aware that this policy was changed. http://www.backwoodshome.com/articles2/ayoob81.html "Israel began the program of armed citizen guards in the schools after the Maalot massacre in the 1970s, when a large number of children were slain in a terrorist incident. The volunteer parents work in plain clothes, armed with concealed semi-automatic pistols, and are trained by Israel's home guard. It is significant that in the more than a quarter century between Maalot and the incident mentioned above when the citizen guards shot down the terrorist in the school in 2002, not a single child was murdered in an Israeli school!"
  16. No way...at highway speeds it will blow his meter maid skirt up.
  17. I'm all for arming teachers...if they are willing to train train train. Unfortunately, most "gun owners" are still working on the first two boxes of ammo they purchased with their firearm. We gave what was supposed to be a 2 1/2-3 hour seminar on responding to an active shooter, that was pared down to 45 minutes with less than half the staff. Anything remotely related to a violent act against an(some) agressor(s) wasn't to be discussed. That left us with "awareness training". Pay attention, watch the cues, the mood changes, pay attention to the kids and their adults. Report it "We can't do that, as it is a violation of district policies and opens us up for liability." "Well, whatever your policies may be, you had best get it through your proper channels or you may be dealing with an event similar to what we are going to talk about next...actual past incidents." That certainly wasn't the rainbow unicorns and bubblegum farts they wanted to talk about. Stockton, California; Jonesboro, Arkansas; Columbine in Colorado, and Virginia Tech. Most teachers don't want to hear it ("Lalalalalalalalalalala"), let alone prepare for it. After ranting to a friend I grew up with about this, who was raised to shoot and is now a teacher, she was surprised they let us speak at all, let alone for 45 minutes. SROs and the Israeli method...armed parents with a vested interest in stopping attacks.
  18. That's a SCREAMING deal! I'm not a big Colt fan but I dislike Glocks and the Gold Cup has always been high quality (except the new ones I just looked over).
  19. Ppfffftttt! REAL men don't mind swinging some wood around! <laughs>
  20. Move that nasty thumb out of the way.
  21. Oro Valley, Arizona provides SROs for all publicly-funded schools in their city limits now. When they did the study on cost they found that it would be an additional average of $18/per year/per home owned within their city limits. What we need to do is turn it around on the anti-gunners..."Do it for the children!"
  22. Wow...dude...it's like we don't even know you anymore. "ARs are really nice but wouldn't a nice cost effective Kel-Tec be just as good?" <laughs> Where the hell is Tom on this?!
  23. Call me cynical (who would have guessed?), but the doctor who 30 years ago installed the rod says "No problem, class-A job...how about some liver-bustin' drugs?" In 30 years someone somewhere has made some sort of advances. IME doctors get comfortable and arrogant over time. It is the up and comers that look for solutions. Second, third, and fourth opinions, from a University hospital if possible.
  24. He blames it on the machine shop. We know it was really first time with a M1 Garand.
  25. Welcome from Arizona SPWhite!
