  1. Welcome Lima_Charlie! I don't think it can be done by buying parts and putting them together. I'm happy with the Freedom Machine (RRA Operator) and Liberty (Elite Operator), both in .308 Winchester. Jon
  2. One of my fellow instructors bought a SIG220 Carry for (ironically) carry. At the range one day he had FOUR failure to fires...not even a firing pin mark on the primers. Sent it in, it was torn down and "nothing wrong" was the verdict. He's decided not to carry it. Jon
  3. Manning For Pima Sheriff has been holding their Class2/3 fund raisers at the shooting club. Not sure when the next one will be. The last one featured a Ma Deuce, along with all the handheld goodies. Next Turkey Shoot is scheduled for 12 May! Jon
  4. Welcome from AZ, ARnalcheeze! Jon
  5. Welcome from AZ, mineralman! What type of minerals? Jon
  6. It was on at the inlaw's. SoG bought a CNC machining center from HAAS...and nobody in their operation can run the thing. Brilliant. You would think one of them would've taken the time to learn code at least. Not impressed. Jon
  7. Welcome from Tucson, rhinegarten! Actually, I'm in county and closer to Marana. For the four of us already here in the area, we are planning a shoot soon. Wanna come blast stuff? Jon
  8. Boomer, another welcome from AZ! Jon
  9. Photos would be of great assistance. Jon
  10. Awesome LLArms! I grew my hair out for about 2 1/2 years for St. Baldrick's...and I HATE having long hair! Raised about $350. Count me in for 20 cents a day for the year. Jon
  11. One good thing about Sportsman's. When you can't stand it anymore, they'll replace that item with a substitute for 20% more. <lmao> Jon
  12. EDC is right now a Ruger LC9 with nearly 1,000 rounds through it...went bang every time. 124gr Golden Sabre, one spare mag. That is soon going to be regulated to EDBU, sentry duty going to the SA 4.5 .45ACP when I have it done. Who uses Mernickle? Jon
  13. I'm tellin' ya...Cheaper Than Dirt has (had?) them for a bit less than Sportsman's. You may have to wait on a sale now. <lmao> Jon
  14. That's four of us right there! I know Sportsman's has folks drive down from Chandler, because hitting the interstate is more convenient that driving across Phoenix to that location. So Marana may be better...especially for that dude in Sierra Vista. <laughs> The next Turkey Shoot will be in May but if you guys want, we can get some range time for fun. <thumbsup> Jon
  15. Bro, designs are very specific. If your owner's manual doesn't actually spell it out that you can single-load by dropping a round into the action, then don't do it. I can't help but wonder if he meant the extractor, not the ejector, getting tweaked by single-loading. 1911s are famous for being tempermental with the extractor. I don't know anyone personally but there are lots of stories of attempting to chamber rounds and the round goes off. By the book: insert a magazine with one round loaded, rack the slide or operate the charging lever/handle. Jon
  16. Got the Voodoo MOLLE shotgun scabbard yesterday. I was hoping to use it with my Mossberg 930. Nope. Not a chance. The "M16-style" sights and charging handle are too big for the very tight fit of the scabbard. It is however a PERFECT fit for my Marlin 1894C! It would probably be ideal for a standard riot gun with a bead sight and nothing in the way of extras hanging off the sides. Jon
  17. Eotech QD lever and lens cover from Brownells. Universal decapping die, knife, and yet another tool kit from Midway. Jon
  18. I used to think that way...until I was getting barely qualifying scores for shotgun qualification. A shooter should be able to shoulder their shotgun, their shoulder in natural position (no hunching your shoulder up or head down), a good cheek weld with the stock, with the dominant eye in such a position as to see the whole bead yet none of length of the barrel. Proper fit is why almost every shotgun manufacturer now ships their guns with shims, so the shooter can get the stock close, without paying for a Browning Citori adjustable stock. Jon
  19. Deja vu! Welcome from AZ, 308Daze! Jon
  20. Welcome eagle10! Jon
  21. I have a Weaver Tactical bipod, it was on sale for $99 clearance at Sportsman's Warehouse a few months back. No springs on the legs, no preset positions, lightweight, can be locked or rocked side to side. It has no transverse movement. I like it quite well. I did take all the screws out and locktite them in place. Ace Hardware sells tan spray paint. Jon
  22. Very cool! Johann, let me know when you come to town next and we'll go send some lead downrange! Jon
