  1. I teach metallic cartridge reloading, all the presses I've experienced load as well as the next. Dies make the biggest difference but it may depend on what your end purpose is. I bought a Lee Challenger breech lock kit for students to use in classes. I figured it would be the smallest loss if some ape busted it. It keeps on cranking out ammo! I now use it to work up loads for rifle and handgun. A good guy on another forum has a Lee Turret Press, he has docmented over 700,000 rounds loaded on it. Whatever kit you get, you will want extras. I find it is nice to have both a beam scale and a digital scale. Beams are delicate and batteries die. Tricklers are nice for perfect powder quantities. Dial/digital calipers are indispensible. Jon
  2. That will be great, 98! Maybe we can convince blue109 to make it too. Jon
  3. That's funny 98...have some kool-aid and buy an upper. IMO, H&K is far too over priced for the product a person receives, since they got high and mighty in the mid-80s. Inthe early '80s a person could get an HK91 or 93, in a kit with mags, sling, bipod, fixed AND telescoping stock, NIB for a street price of $600 or so. Jon
  4. Welcome LLArms!! BARF dot com sure is a rude surprise. Years ago I went there while searching for Mini14 info. My BS filter filled up in about 3 seconds, then ripped from the weight from all the worthless crap on every thread. Wouldn't surprise me if it was run by the Bradys...BARF would turn any newbie away from guns forever. Jon
  5. Ha! Thanks unforgiven! She was complaining big time, because I wouldn't let her use the SP101 .22LR. She needs help getting the hammer back on that. Made her use her new Browning 1911 22, aka Baby 1911. That is what I used for the rimfire handgun too, second time I shot it. I used a totally stock XD9 Service for the centerfire handgun. She won rimfire rifle with her T6'ed 10/22. C'mon May!! Jon
  6. As an instructor, the biggest benefit I've seen is from dry-fire practice. Hone that trigger-sight/scope picture interaction. Helps when you get to your 10,000 rounds of ammo. Jon
  7. After the Turkey Shoot yesterday, I ran two mags full through Liberty. Function was flawless but the cheap BUS on there is out of synch with the front from RRA. With the small peep, shots were WAY low. Spinning the dial up to the large peep (only two options on this cheap flip-up) allowed enough visibility to adjust Kentucky-elevation enough to ring steel. Eventually I want to get an Eotach for this shorty but I want a different rear sight yesterday. Was looking at the MBUS, and now am thinking maybe a standard A2-style may be good. What do you guys think? I don't want to adjust the front sight until I get the new rear sight. Jon
  8. Great shoot! Between my daughter and myself, we won half the catagories. She won both the junior rimfire, I won both adult handgun events. The next one will be scheduled in May! Jon
  9. Cool, Terry! I did not know that about the British Boomers. I'll pass that along. Jon
  10. PC is still in the shop. I'll get pics posted then. What brand are those grip pods washguy? Jon
  11. Did some tearing down and lubing today. It seems to be tighter than the Freedom Machine, the trigger is a bit lighter (maybe a couple of pounds) too. Took a subpar Pro Mag flip up rear and put it on the Elite Operator...which I now dub Liberty. Hope to do a basic sight-in/function check after the Turkey shoot tomorrow. Jon
  12. Welcome from AZ greenhornet! Just get a whole second gun, as you'll end up with one anyway. Don't ask me how I know. Jon
  13. "Over .22 caliber with a detachable magazine." This will be amended, mark my word, to include "sniper scope sales", multiple magazine sales, more than one box of ammo sales, etc. I told folks when Heller passed, it opened the door for tons of poop like this. "So what if we have your name registered? You have enough gun for your defense." Better get unorganized folks. Jon
  14. Howdy from AZ crom.a.boo! Jon
  15. Welcome Loridah! Jon
  16. Picked up the Elite Operator this evening! As soon as the pc gets back I'll post pics. Very nice and maneuverable! Very tight between upper and lower receivers. Right now the thinking is to add a MBUS rear sight and an Eotach for targeting, then one of the grip pods. Any input on the grip pods will be appreciated! Jon
  17. Funny...I first looked at Paul because of the claim he was a kook in the headline. Read the article and, despite the spin, he was dead-on right. Did some research and found I wished he was every politician. Read about his foreign policy. He believes in TOTAL war, when it is appropriate. From the soundbites you'd think he is an isolationist coward, which isn't the case at all. Paul's son just gave back a buttload of money, saying taxpayers shouldn't pay senators and senators shouldn't accept it. He'll be getting my vote, hopefully twice this year. Jon
  18. The board rescheduled it for Sunday 15. Bummeroni on work. Sweet on the supercross!! Jon
  19. I'm not experiencing that with the RR Operator I currently have, though I do see some of the scratches on the brass, mentioned by Hoot. Whenever I clean it, I take a tool and squash the ejector up and down a few times. It does seem to be "breaking in". Jon
  20. The ability to use cast boolits makes it even more appealing! Jon
  21. Welcome jlaw from an AZ jlaw! Jon
  22. Welcome texasdawg! Thanks for the pics! Jon

  24. I wondered what happened to that black stock/pink receiver-bbl gun! C'mon...pics man. We LIKE pink here! <laughs> It's why so many of us have kids. <lmao> Jon
