  1. ROFL!! Robo, you and I are TOO much alike!! Fuel Altereds are a blast too!
  2. The front handguard retainer is sandwiched between the gas block and a shoulder on the barrel. When you take the gas block of the retainer will slide right off.
  3. Way to go Robo! Nice gun and wonderful gesture!
  4. As far as I know, AR15 and AR308s gas blocks are interchangeable, the only variation is the size. That being said, my DPMS LR308 came from the factory with an aluminum gas block.
  5. I've used the Duracoat in the spray cans from Brownells with great success. The last go around was a Para-Ordinance frame that the serial # is pretty shallow and had no problem with it filling in the engraving.
  6. Mobil 1 is the only oil I use on all my guns. I have a container of Chip McCormick Trigger Slick that I use on sears, but Mobil 1 goes on everything else.
  7. Gotta jump in here with kudo's to our very own Matt Cross, the starter of this thread. Great guy to deal with. If you ever have a chance to deal with him you'll have no worries! <thumbsup>
  8. The pics are well done. That's going to be a sweet rifle!
  9. ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <laughs> <lmao>
  10. Cool, thanks! <thumbsup>
  11. Nice! Where did you get your rails?
  12. Reloads in .223. To be more specific, 55 gr. FMJBT Winchester or Remington (whichever Midway has on sale) over 21 grs. of IMR 4198. If I decide I want to mess something up as opposed to just punching a hole, I have about a dozen boxes of whatever softpoints the Border Patrol issues my son. <thumbsup> So far all I've put through my LR 308 is 100 rnds. of Tula 150 gr. FMJ. A buddy of mine picked me up about 600 rnds. of Lake City 7.62 brass from White Sands the other day and I will be getting the stuff to set up my Dillon 550B to reload soon.
  13. Should work just fine. One thousandth bigger won't have any kind of effect. One thousandth smaller is a different story though............. <thumbsup>
  14. That is correct.
  15. The UN needs to be booted out of this country, Eric Holder needs to be fired and prosecuted as an accessory to murder, and Obama needs to be voted out of office in November!
  16. Oh yeah, went out and put 100 rnds. through it a couple of weeks ago. Thing ran like a watch, no problems at all. Soon as the wind dies down around here (probably about July) I'll see what kind of groups I can get out of it.
  17. I would like to pick up a rifle length DPMS LR 308 handguard to replace my carbine length one. I replaced the gas block with a small one with no rail and think the gun would look better with the longer handguard. It's the grooved aluminum tubular one. Anyone got a take off that they would be willing to sell reasonable?
  18. Nice! <thumbsup>
  19. Finally got around to taking a pic of my LR 308 that the wife & son got me for Christmas. I included it's little brother in the pic.
  20. You know, I heard somewhere that a clean workbench is a sign of a warped mind. :cookoo: Just sayin............. <dontknow> ;)
  21. There's not a motor vehicle being sold in this country today that doesn't have foreign made parts on it. I would say the litmus test would be did the construction of this vehicle employ citizens of this country?
  22. Attaboy Ted! I love how he always has the statistical numbers and even says where they come from. Gotta love that guy! <thumbsup>
  23. I just did the "15 Minute Trigger Job" on my LR 308 and all I can say is WOW! After doing as instructed I lubed everything with some Mobil1 and put a dab of Chip McCormicks's Trigger Slick on the sear contact surface. By my RCBS trigger pull gauge the trigger consistently trips at 48 ounces every time! Before doing the work the pull was clear off my scale, which maxes out at 72 ounces. Now if I don't have any problems with setting off the primers then it's all good! <thumbsup>
  24. ROFL!!! I love this guy! This reminded me of the time my older son kept bouncing a basketball off the side of the house (no basketball hoop anywhere in the area) after I told him to stop it a couple of times. I stuck a Gerber blade in that ball and never bought him a replacement. I caught a little flak from the wife, but when he bought himself a new ball there was never another issue with it being bounced on the house! <thumbsup>
  25. Bounce away my friend! <thumbsup>
