  1. I live about a mile from Independence Firearms, 5k guns in stock, they are always busy even during the week in the middle of the day, but today the parking lot was full and both sides of the driveway that is about 150 yds long, all day!
  2. Yep, just got a package of 9mm,45 auto and 30 carbine bullets in from midway. Think I might order more tomorrow!
  3. Welcome from Texas, where in Pa.? I spent 4+ yrs in nw. Pa., lived in Albion. I have a homebuilt dpms pattern on a t.m. 80% lower, 20", flat top slick side, free float, A-2 stock.
  4. If they would stop wasting the money that people give them on sending out all that junk mail they would have plenty. I too got sick of getting renewal notices all year round, makes me think that they believe I am dumb enough to renew more than need be. I have 2 of the old bucktools, had one break at the hinge back when they were new but they replaced it and have had no more problems, not even sure if they make one now.
  5. I told her and she said the "hell you are" and "you would rather sleep with it than me" then I told her I would get her a tramp stamp tatoo of it so I could see it while ............. but I can't repeat what she told me then!
  6. Springfield M1A loaded walnut/carbon steel barrel (because these guns should be black and brown) should be at Independence firearms this afternoon, now I have to figure out how to sneak it into bed between me and the wife!
  7. I normally go to northern new mexico in the san juans for trout but didn't get to go yet this year, maybe a quickie late this month or next. Have been going since 1976 and have only missed 4 or 5 times. I like the Chama area the best also Taos and Red River, went to South Fork Co. 3 yrs. ago and got the largest rio grande cutthroat I ever caught at 19". I know it doesn't sound big but most of these creeks are small and 10-12" is about average.
  8. my ww1 colt's 1911 as issued no mods
  9. Check this site out looks like very nice machine but also has a excellent explanation of the process and what to do, what not to do and why http://www.kenlightmfg.com/cartridgecaseannealer.htm.
  10. Is that Dickinson tx?
  11. I just saw this, I like it but it is missing the grits!
  12. How does duracoat compare to the alumahyde I used on my ak? It surprised me its tough stuff.
  13. Havent made it to the range yet but the charging handle is signifigantly harder now, forgot to count coils but will do so tomorrow. Got some very nice extended length takedown/pivot pins from glockplates.com, plain black no logo and perfect fit.
  14. still waiting on the buffer to arrive, will count coils tomorrow and post findings. Thank's for all of the replies, all good info
  15. I always hated he trigger on my bushmaster ar15, long rough and hard. I went to a shop here in town out of frustration and got a cheap rock river single stage and WOW! what a difference, the original was one of those mentioned above just looking at the rock river you can see better quality and better grinding work that was done on the sear faces.
  16. well I don't know why I didnt think of this earlier but I went to the DPMS website and it lists both pieces AND their specs, spring should be 12 3/4" (I have 11 1/2") and buffer is 5.285 long (I have 5.315) it weighs 5.4 ounces and mine is 4.2. That was easy I had never looked at their online store before, good reference tool, thank's for all of the responses and I will post after I get the parts in and go to the range.
  17. No damage to the buffer at all, sorry have never learned how to post pics, but I did double check the weight and it is 4.2 ounces, it may be the wrong spring it measures 11 1/2" and .070" wire dia. Under magnification it also appears that the bore of the buffer tube was not concentric to the o.d., one side was very thin and opposite was much thicker, if the buffer weight and spring are ok then I believe it was just a weak tube
  18. Does anyone have a dpms rifle length buffer they could measure overall length and weight of?
  19. Yes I did have the spacer in there, I thought the length of the buffer was odd too according to slash's chart. Could the extra length be the reason this happened due to running into the bottom of the hole? What about the weight? Could too light have made it even worse? On midways site they show a dpms rifle tube with a spacer and a olympic rifle tube without the spacer, does this mean the hole in the olympic is drilled/bored deeper? Or is it the same and the end of the tube is just that much thicker?
  20. OK. I did some looking and found slash's buffer chart it shows a weight of 5.4 oz. and 5.2" in lenght, what I have only weighs 4 oz. and is 5 5/16" long, I am thinking this may be the problem, also the buffer tube is not the full length of the stock it has a spacer that was behind it that is about 1" long. Any thoughts or suggestions?
  21. The rifle is dpms pattern with the a2 stock, how do I make sure that it has the right tube/spring/buffer?
  22. 1919a4.com, weaponsguild alot and ak files a little, very happy with all of them and 308ar.com
  23. I have been reloading .308 for some time for a 1919 but it will gobble up just about anything. I recently built a DPMS pattern rifle and found out my reloads would not chamber, tried them in a friends bolt gun with a kreiger barrel and most would not chamber. Switched to small base dies and it got better but only about half would chamber, and some that would could not be extracted when cycling by hand, this was due to a rough and possibly tight chamber, had to fix a few minor issues with the gun and got it to cycle and extract well but still would not always close on the round on the first try but it usually would if I pulled it back as far as possible a couple of times and let it slam shut. I talked to a local gunsmith that has done good work for friends and he said to shorten the sizer or the shell holder a few thousandths because he has seen many slightly out of spec dies that would not push the shoulder back anough for a gun with minimal headspace. I didn't have to as a light chamber polishing did the trick, but what he said does make sense to me and would explain why they would not chamber in my buddies bolt gun I may try to shorten the sizer just a few thousandths and try in the bolt gun again. I'm new to these guns but just thought I would share what I have found out so far.
  24. I will yry to get to the range this weekend, must load ammo!
  25. Just like he told me I believe that fixed it, it didn't take very much polishing, I haven't shot it yet, but I can manually cycle a whole mag through it now without the bolt sticking closed once and all of the marks are gone from the back of the cases. We shall see how it goes when I make it to the range.
