Welcome to the forum from southern wi, one thing to keep in mind these rifles get heavy fast, 18" barrel is plenty for taking game at a good distance. Also I own a DPMS complete rifle, I bought a higher grade model but I've modded it out a bit, but out the box it shot better then me

Also if you listen to podcasts and like mike Rowe these are always good, warning tho sometimes they get you right in the feeling

I'm not sure if you think your barrel nut should slip over your gas block? I'm taking a guessing here. Your barrel nut goes on before your gas block then your hand guard ID needs to be greater than your gas block, OR your hand guard must be shorter than the distance from your barrel nut to your gas block. im totally assuming here if that's what your thinking I hope it helps, if not what your thinking did reguard
