If you have a glass top stove I would look into somthing like a turkey fryer burner, but also keep in mind that there’s a btu limit on pressure canners I think my presto is 12,000 but’s. I started out making salsa my and from there my curiosity grew. My mom used to jams jelly’s and salsa so I had a little experience from her, but it’s not really rocket science and that book has lots of good detailed instructions along with tips and tricks.
  3. I’m gonna clean out my freezer this winter and can a bunch of meat do you have the ball canning guide book? I’m pretty sure I’ve asked that before https://www.amazon.com/Ball-Complete-Book-Home-Preserving/dp/0778801314/ref=asc_df_0778801314_nodl/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312069235624&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11493319489659729797&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9018912&hvtargid=pla-586375869797&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=58874700621&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=312069235624&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11493319489659729797&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9018912&hvtargid=pla-586375869797

  5. How much snow did you get? I heard up to 20” in places. It rained here actually it fucking poured! Top of the storm that went thru IL. Then about 3:30 am the wind switched and I woke up to the windows rattling, I really thought it was a tornado, it was the cold front coming in and snow 🤪🤪🤪nothing measurable and it was all gone after the sun came out
  6. I was just coming to check on you glad you’re safe! Curiosity got ahold of me this morning and I did some googling. most tornados die after six miles, this one went 200. The longest on record went 219 miles and was on the ground for 3-1/2 hours😳😳 up to a mile fucking wide twister moving thru the night for 2 hours, what a horror story

  12. I started this last Sunday went into Monday, next time I need to remember to start it on a Fri night or sat morning. Roasted 4-6 venison leg bones for an hour with a decent amount of meat on them, they were also sawed open to expose the marrow. Put them in a large stock pot and simmered for over 24 hours adding veggies and herbs in the last 2-3 hours. Today I skimmed the fat off the top and warmed it up prepped my jars and pressure canned 14 quarts. I put another 5 cups in the fridge which I’ll use to make chili verde tomorrow.
  13. I think next year my mom and I will probably do a bushel each. I fucked up my garden and it’s all my fault I can’t blame the weather. But im also done with tomatoes I got a fungus in my soil and it’s alot easy to drive up there and buy from them than it is to replace my soil. we can do a trade, I got lots of broth, it’s great for stews soups and chili. I know you don’t make it down here a lot but if you do gimme a shout! im also going to clean out the freezer this winter and can all the old meat I have in there 😂😂😂😂😂

  23. I agree! I learned a lot about bears over the years in the wood. The best learning was hunting them. I’ve been the same distance from a black bear as a Canada goose and only one tried to kill me it wasn’t the bear
