Ok so as I mentioned in my "savage" post I really like the .308 hog hunter.
Pros: bolt is smooth like butter, shoulders well, fixed sights, threaded end on barrel
Cons: internal box mag (4 rounds) stock is kinda flimsy
Listened to a few recommendations on the mossberg MVP .308 patrol and fondled one Saturday.
Pro: detachable sr25/pmag, fixed sights, front fiber optic pin on sight, threaded barrel end with flash suppressor
Cons: bolt was super sloppy when open ( the gun at the store was really bad in my opinion) stock also cheap.
Been doing some reading on modding the stock on the hog hunter and actually tried to join a savage forum to ask these questions but to join you need to be avid In savage history lol. I did find an thread on ar-15.com, but idk exactly what they're talking about could some one dumb it down for me?

The 3rd post down by cyclic specifically
I'm not ruling out the MVP patrol, the bolt slop really turned me off tho, I talked to bubba about his .223 and he had assured me it's a great gun and he plans on getting the .308 too, but I think if I could easily upgrade the savage I'd go that route
