I lived in eastern Germany for 8 years or so, so i did my time in snowy land, so glad i dont have to clean that up any more, also very much glad i am not using 50+ lbs of salt a month for three month to keep my driveway/sidewalk from turning in to a sheet of ice.

just because i know you all are worried about how the stomr has hit us here in Hawaii. Still no snow, still in the 80's and yes i went to the beach this weekend. I so dont miss the snow.

Mags for DPMS LR-308 needed
dagamore replied to bluzjamer's topic in DPMS Panther Arms LR-308 | Bushmaster 308
the price on them is up a bit, but not as bad as i have been fearing. Just glad i got in on the bronwells backorder of a 10pk at 178(or something like that) when you still could back order them, and got them in the mail a week or so ago. -
I have recently started doing stainless steel tumbling, because it is a wet tumbling and it cleans the case inside and out and the primer pockets. I got a universal deprimer and just deprime all the brass then tumble and then lube/size. I love how quite tumbling in the ss media is, and the brass looks better then new when done. the only real down side is you have to dry the brass after tumbling, but thats not a big deal.

Keep in mind this is the BATFE, they have said before that just because a rifle is used in a sporting event, does not make the rifle have a 'sporting purpose." They have screwed us in the past, and will do it again, they are “Always Thinking Forfeiture” its their damn un-official moto.

you mean High Powered Sniper Rifle right? or possibly Uber High powered Sniper Rifle. I know my Ruger #1 has a ton more power then my AR15 hell it has more then even my DMPS LR308. Yeah kind of tired of the Fuddies saying yeah ban there evil black rifles, i dont use one. Like the gun banners wont quickly step to the hunting weapons as the next that need to be banned.

thats a damn good video, and it does not even get in to the problem of the UK only counting it as a murder for statistics reasons if they get a convection, vs the US where if the Medical Examiner puts down murder its a murder.

welcome to the forums, even just lurking you will learn a lot, just about everything has be asked before and search is your friend, but we wont yell at you if you ask first, or if like me your search-fu is not what it should be. just one question for ya. If Texas is "the last bastion of personal liberty and freedom," why cant you all open cary?

What do you guys think of the straight-arm forward hold?
dagamore replied to Madhouse's topic in Tactics and Training
I dont see at as a good or effective long term holding style. For me it puts too much strain on my shoulder, it does allow for a quicke second shot, so if i was doing three gun, i might run with it, but i am old school and like the magwell hold, or the magpul grip near the magwell. just my 2 cents. -
damn thats a heavy pig, my dmps is only 16.6 with mag and ammo.

Never owned a pit, but have had more then a few rotties, and they were sweethearts. One fo the best dogs i have ever know was a pit, was just a great dog. These sort of laws are just stupid.

two simple reasons, 1> because you can. 2> because it will piss off all the antis out there.

did they clear the alu so that it will not stain/age?

i would not get a kit, the often have stuff you dont need, or stuff that you will have to upgrade very quickly. just an FYI for the most part i am a RCBS fanboy, they make some of the best presses and dies out there, other things not so much. A base line starter kit would ideally be the follow. 0> the one must have item is: more reloading books then you know what to do with. If you get bullets from company A get their book, if you get powder from company B and they have a book get it. Also dont be scared to use the interwebs to get reloading data from the companies that make either the bullets or the powders a lot is on line, my ipads only book marks are reloading sites. 1> RCBS Rock Chucker (often found on line from reloaders that have moved to progressives) (upgrade option is the RCBS Turret press(still single stage just less removing/adding of dies) 2> A quality electric scale, i like the hornady CS1500 it works.(beam scales are very accurate but can be twitchy and slow to center) 3> Lee powder measure kit (powder scoops(work great for getting 99% or so of your powder charge quickly) 4> loading blocks at least two, if not more (I like the Frankford Arsenal(yes they are ammo specific but a lot of ammo uses the same blocks, for example my FA #6 work for my 44spl/44mag/45auto/45auto rim/45 colt/30-30win/44-40/41mag(it was not built for the 308, but it holds the brass fine) 5> RCBS dies in the caliber you are going to be reloading. (For example i dont like the hornady pistol dies because the case bell is not adjustable you have to adjust the die with RCBS you just bottom out the die and then slowly move down the bell to get the amount of belling you want.) 6> Frankfurt Arsenal case tumbler, it just works and it works great (hint putting in strips of fabric softener will make your media last longer) 7> dial Calipers!!!! Digital are ok and easier to read but need batteries. dials dont need power to work. I own both and use digital more often then not, but like the fall back when the batteries die, and my electric one seams to eat batteries like i eat popcorn(cheap POS i got from harbor freight). you can get more in to it, but i dont, i use an RCBS hand primer after sizing the cases, but using the press is about as quick, and on the turrent with the auto priming feeder tubes its might be something i get in to, but love the auto-prim thing from RCBS it just works. also tons of videos on how to set up the press, your work space, the reloading process. everything. youtube can be a damn good friend. just my 2 cents.

have not read the book, its on my list, but i love my DMPS LR-308, it is just so much fun to shoot, accurate enough for what i will ever use it for, and its in a caliber that i respect. As a long time hunter i have hunted in WA, GA, ID, MT, TX with bolt action 308's my DMPS while not a light as my Ruger number 1 in 308, and not quite as accurate as the #1, I would not think twice about hunting with it. I kind of wish i had my DMPS when i was living in Germany where most of your hunting is done from stands vs tracking, when in a stand the weight of the rifle is not as important as when you are humping up a trail. The DMPS has shown to be a very accurate rifle, when i do my part i can get at or below MOA out of it, even at 4-500 yards. And its a big black scary 'evil' rifle whats not to like, i just wish the magpul prs had a "shoulder thing that went up" not that i would ever use it, but just to piss of more of the gun grabbers and make it more evil! But i have issues.

my first turkeyday in Hawaii, no family near here, so i went to the beach, and reloaded ~200rds of 44slp for shooting tomorrow, thankfully all my 308 brass is loaded right now, might do some auto-rim, but not sure on that.

thanks, was looking for something to help with bench/prone shooting for boomershoot that i am going to at the end of april.

welcome Hooz, You would not also be on 2cpu by any chance would you? i used to know a gunnut over there.

very nice, what brands the mono pod on the rear of the stock, and have you shot with it on yet, if so how do you like it.
-
yeah i would not mind one of each.

What made you decide to move to the 308 AR/AR-10 Platform?
dagamore replied to imschur's topic in General Discussion
Robocop1051 Did they just finish shooting a youtube video about gun store customers? or how to turn buck shot in to slug with wax? was his co worker a really old guy with a big old grey beard? -
my dmps lr-308 run like a top. I have put about 200 rounds of milsurplus through it and never a hickup. i have put ~500 rounds of winchester 150 hunting ammo through it and still not a hickup. I dont like it when any LGS talks crap about an owners gun, unless its a llama, then its ok to talk trash about them.

https://www.dragonleatherworks.com/leather_holster_talon.php is a great one, not too much of a forward cant but the best non active retention holster i have ever owned. well made, and just works.

What made you decide to move to the 308 AR/AR-10 Platform?
dagamore replied to imschur's topic in General Discussion
i went to the lr308 platform for two very simple reasons, I wanted a new rifle, preferably in the AR platform/style but with some power behind it My rifle popped up on a mustang forum i belong to for a damn good price for what it was, with most of the upgrades that i would have thrown at it, already done to it, and it was a very low round count rifle(sub 100rds). -
Brownells now Offering 308 AR 50 Round Drums
dagamore replied to imschur's topic in Brownells Coupons, Deals and Codes
I feel your pain, i own a few 5rd mags just so i can use a full mag at the range, the only rage near me i can only have 5 in the mag at once, at least thats the rule have not seen it enforced but why upset the rang when its free.
