  1. Well stated, sir. It has its purpose...and its purpose ain't to be sneaky.
  2. Concepts the same. Whether or not you agree with the mode, armor serves the same purpose. Be it individual or crew..... matters not. MRAPs are certainly not as loud as they have been characterized.
  3. The Geissele Hi-Speed Match or DMR. I am not sure which one of this pusher/enablers recommended it to me, but it is second to none. In my experience, it is just as reliable as the SSA and SSA-E. The SSA-E is my runner up.
  4. I completely agree with you about being a form of free speech and if that is the OCer's motivation then more power to him/her. I, however, am not that symbolic. When I wear a weapon, it is to protect my family, your family and myself (both on duty and off), I step into the game to win, not merely play, because as many of you know...the second place winner in a gunfight is tits-up in a grave. I want every advantage I can get in a deadly force situation...fair...unfair...it doesn't matter. This is why I carry concealed. It is a personal choice.
  5. Why give up the tactical advantage of a concealed weapon? If you think open carry is a deterrent, think again, since 1964 over 4200 Police Officers were killed and the overwhelming majority were "open carrying." Before someone says...but but but they were cops...... They represent the same thing that civilian gun owners do...an obstacle to their objectives. People at Chipotle and Starbucks may be intimidated by ours weapons, but criminals are not. Sometimes the element of surprise is more valuable than a reload.
  6. Yes. The extended butt pad is nice. I have a QD Brake that works with my suppressor and adjustable gas block and the combo makes for a smooth shooting .308.
  7. I don't think your experience in entirely unique. While my opinion and experience with U.S. Optics and yours differ, we can agree that Eurooptic is good to go. If you are not inclined to go German, then I suggest you take a close look at some of the newer Leupold Mark 6 or Nightforce.
  8. I don't know your experience or which teams you served, but let me say that in the myriad of domestic operations that U.S. LE have to engage in, surprise is only one aspect of how the mission is accomplished. It would be nice if every subject could be taken unaware in their underwear, but incidents do not happen that way outside of the warrant service role. If your teams have engaged in any type of prolonged hostage situations/barricaded subjects or any other active violent incident scenes, then you would immediately know that showing up soft is a good way to acquire a few extra holes in you. True, armor is a bullet magnet, but a soft car is a bullet sponge. You wouldn't drop your body armor to run up a flight of stairs to a violent confrontation in an effort maximize your speed or surprise...or at least I hope not.
  9. Tornado 25 miles to the south of my home yesterday. I was out of town and just returned. Rain, lots of rain.
  10. The shortages were felt and we had longer lead times to fill orders.
  11. I am issued a TA01NSN. I like it. The reticle is gtg especially in lowlight. The biggest selling points to me and role it plays for us are the size and ruggedness.
  12. Most Feds qualify quarterly with optional practice shoots. The small number of rounds you suggest maybe sufficient if you are just shooting paper for liability purposes. If you are training people to actually fight with the shotgun, then 238 per agent is a low number.
  13. I am more worried about the commies over here than the ones overthere.
  14. Gulp....Karl Marx Jr is writing for C&D
  15. I hate that I didn't jump on that deal.
  16. Hell yeah. The .308 can do amazing things. It is a blue collar badass.
  17. 260 has been getting my attention lately for a bolt gun rebarreling.
  18. I like the 6.5 and there are a handful of great factory loads, but I can only recommend it if you are going to reload.
  19. No kidding, I never thought I would say this, but.....I may have enough mags. ....this week. >:D
  20. It's the kids birthright.
  21. I can't stop smiling at this statement.
  22. We have all been burned before..... :'(
  23. Impressive. I will add that some of the feral sows shot near farms are much better for processing/eating.
  24. A couple of my wilson 10 rounders had the mag stop break off of them during training. That is the only fault I found with them.
