  1. The 260 Remington concept is a good one though if you are thinking distance shooting. I don't own one myself, but the friends who do rave about them. And I see their targets. Very impressive.
  2. Good luck Sketch, as the old parable goes; "Give a man a fish, you feed them once, teach a man to fish, you get him to spend a fortune at Cabela's, Sportsman's guide, Gander Mountain, Bass Pro Shops, etc. etc. etc.". I can't fish for the next few days, hope the run isn't over yet. We had some rain, so won't know if they are still in the lake until I get back out. When it's over, it's over, and on to hunting.
  3. My Mistake it was the Ruger American CDNN had on sale.
  4. I would perform some due diligence on the spiral fluting. Fluting is normally used to lighten a barrel, but in doing so it can cause irregular expansion and contraction of the metal, which can effect accuracy. The top quality fluted barrels are designed to compensate or allow for it. I have never seen spiral fluting like that, and if it was me I would like some data and rationale for it. It looks cool, but if it doesn't have an effective function it is performing, I wouldn't buy it. Maybe some other members have some experience with them.
  5. CDNN had a couple available in 22-250 and 223, for good prices. Didn't see any larger calibers though.

    1911 info

https://www.1911addicts.com/threads/buyers-guide-for-all-you-1911-addicts.511/ I am starting to research a 1911 as a gift and so checked with my LGS guy, who I trust and highly value his opinion, as to what brand is currently the best dollar for dollar value for a 1911. To my surprise he thought Ruger. I am looking for something in the $600-$950 range. Thought I would check in with the 1911 experts on our Forum here. What are your opinions?

Despite living in Colby land, I admit that I am a lifelong Viking fan, having spent most my life in Minneapolis. As long as Aaron Rogers is playing, this consigns me to a life of frustration and depression.
  10. They kept on talking about the difference between a dry fly and a wet fly and how it altered their presentation. About that time I woke up.
  11. You were right the first time. I had my boat set up for strippers. The planing board mast served as a dance pole, here are my two fishing buddies.
  12. got this idea when I was at a Range by the Outer Banks, not that far from Virginia. Makes perfect sense. Plus I can double purpose it on laundry day.
  13. Nice job Sketch. Yep, your buddy owes you big time.
  14. Yeah I saw that on PP as well. I got this one on an offer I couldn't refuse. 2 years old, 25 hours on it. $20 G. Would cost me $45G now. Kick myself because I passed on a John Deer mid size tractor with 15 hours on the diesel, an earth bucket, and snow blower from the same guy for $15 G! I couldnt afford both. Thats life I guess.
  15. Welcome from Wisconsin II.
  16. I did the big boat thing for a while. A lot of work, a lot of money, and not that much better. Now I do a 20 foot Alaskan. The picture is my son out with me on Saturday.
  17. Biggest I have caught on Superior was 22 pounds, but I have seen 30 pounders caught in the old days.
  18. I used to ignore that stuff and go out anyway, but I used up a bunch of my nine lives doing so. Now I listen.
  19. Too windy to fish the last couple of days. Hope they stick around for a while before running the river.
  20. 80 rounds is still the break in period. It may loosen up with some more rounds through it. Be sure to keep everything really well lubricated during that break in phase. Does that model have an adjustable gas regulator? I am not familiar with it. If it does, make sure that it isn't partially closed. Also, did you and the previous owner always use the same Magazine? Just to rule it out, try a different one. I am going to get off and let more knowledgeable guys about this model weigh in.
  21. My latest effort in this area. Our local range has an issue on its pistol range in that they set up 25 yard target holders, but they are anchored in concrete, and we always get people walking ahead of the firing line to shoot closer ( 10 yards) rendering the pistol range useless to anyone else while they are doing that. If you are practicing with a snub nose 38, you don't have much choice. I built a wheeled target holder I am donating. It uses chicken coop wire with spring loaded clothes pins to hold the target. I am making an extra one for my garage so when I get off in the boonies in my pick up, Icna create my own range in a likely, safe spot.
  22. does your rifle ever get a headache now?
  23. The Coho in our bay showed up at the rivermouths two days ago. This year they are a little bigger and a lot meaner than usual. I had two break twenty pound monofilament last night on their initial strike. The first picture is a 26 inch female, about 6 pounds. I won't be on the forum much until the run is over.
  24. I still like motorcycles, but I won't own them anymore. Not only my reaction time is down, but something about being on one makes me think I can get away with more than I should. Best that that is way behind me.
