  1. Nice Salmon, It's big enough to be an upriver bright, except for the color! I am a great lakes fisherman myself. Been up to Stanley Basin though and watched the Salmon Run or what is left of it.
  2. That's a good deal. You will like it. Is it the A or B model? I am guessig B in that it will use Armalite proprietary mags.
  3. No trajectory was definitely slow pitch!
  4. Oh, and a 5 rd box of J.C. Higgins 20 gauge rifled slugs with 4 left in it. Price on box: 97 cents. Dates from the early 1960's. Wonder if there are any collectors out there?
  5. What do I do when it's -13 F out and I am Jonesing to get out to the range? I get on my headlamp and dig out the far corners of my gun safe to see what I find. So far this morning: Some 35 year old 30-06 reloads. A box of failed super heavy bullet 45 ACP loads (300 gr). Failed because at 10 yards with Unique powder they had the trajectory of an underhand thrown softball. Some 40 year old .357 JSP factory loads, Some Speer 9mm JSP reloads that actually were pretty good 35 years ago. And a bunch of partial boxes I inherited from my father 20 years ago. When the snow melts I think I will have a shoot at the range just to use this stuff up. Any body else ever do this with their safe? What did you find?
  6. Don't take many myself. Put it out there to get a conversation going.
  7. Having followed you with this issue,1911, I am impressed with how you developed a solution to the problem. Armalite customer service was an option, but you can't argue with success. Nice job, now enjoy that AR10.
  8. Welcome from Wisconsin Lib, nice Rock River Arms section in this forum.
  9. Way up north, but I am interested.
  10. Been shooting a Colt HBAR since 1994 in 5.56. Liked it, but with a rifle that heavy, it was shooting a pretty anemic round. I was used to shooting lightweight bolt 30-06's so I wasn't worried about more recoil, and thought a 308 AR just makes more sense if you are an experienced shooter. If you are not a class III rock and roller, which I am not, I would rather shoot a round with authority, since at my age, you won't see me in many three gun meets or advanced tactical drills, so no real advantage for me with a 5.56 over a 7.62x51. Love my AR10, just wish it was a carbine instead of a rifle. Gives me reason to get another one!
  11. Will do, and thanks for having a nice, orderly forum on a great class of rifles. i am passing the word!
  12. Not to hijack the thread, but while you are talking NFL, a lot of people don't realize the whole NFL hasn't paid taxes since 1966! I like to watch football, but I am not into subsidizing billionaires.
  13. Welcome aboard man.
  14. Believe it or not, when two male grizzlies fight, generally they try to castrate the other.
  15. It was the Fox Channel and a promo for a Fox show. Of course they will break their own rules. Don't expect ethics from the media.
  16. Good to see you over here JT.
  17. Welcome from a fellow Wisconsinite/AR10 owner. Yeah not the best time to hit the range in this state. If you are thinking a scope and not a reflex sight, check out the Nikon 308 BDC. A good scope for a fair price.
  18. What do you like about your AR10 the most? What do you dislike the most? I like it's accuracy. I don't like the weight and length. Wish I had opted for the carbine instead of the full length rifle.
  19. Ok, post your best group with any variant of an AR10. Name the distance, the cartridge, if a handload, the powder, primer, case and bullet. Below is the only one I ever took a picture of so far. 200 yards, A Lake City M118LR, which means 42.5 grains of RL 15 and a SMK BTHP. First shot was the flyer, 6 clicks down followed by the other 4 shots in the group. 25 mph quartering wind, 19F. Weapon was an AR10 B4 with a twenty inch barrel, Nikon Monarch 4x16 Scope.
  20. 1911 popo, that fix still working for you?
  21. They changed their name from Cheaper than dirt. To "Greedier Than S__t"
  22. Shot AR15's and AR180's for 30+ years. Always wanted to upgrade to 7.62 platform. Got down to either M1a, RRA LAR08, or AR10. Ended up with the AR10 and like it a lot and very impressed by its accuracy.
  23. Very nice. With that scope you can always watch a drive in movie in the next county after hitting the range. Did you get it zeroed in?
  24. The problem is not the scope it is the mount. What mount are you using? And what make AR 308? The problem with clearing sights is that it is sometimes impossible to crank the scope down that far. Might consider some other iron sight options unless yours is a fixed handle AR.
