  1. Lately I've been on a serious avocado kick. Probably eating 1 every other day. my favorite so far was cubing it up, then tossing it in a hot pan with olive oil and chili garlic spices.
  2. its a BTE, simple and inexpensive
  3. my cellphone's flash is sucking. Anyhow you can see the gas tube roll pin hole in this pic, but not the adjuster screw and here's the adjuster, basically right in the middle of the 2 vent holes
  4. hmm yeah, mine is a low profile, so I don't need to machine away the top, and it is an adjustment screw directly on the left side. it just lines up between the ventilation holes in the mrf. i'm going to go take a pic
  5. the nkon J1 is pretty sweet. Its an slr, but a tiny body. not exactly shirt pocket sized though, but close http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2347306&SRCCODE=JELLYFISH&cm_mmc_o=2mHCjC3wkkYubltCjCVqHCjCdwwp
  6. So Christmas 2010, I took the family on a driving trip to Virginia (I'm in Tampa, FL) to visit my brothers who all live in a fairly close area. My one brother is a pretty avid deer hunter, and part of why i'm building the 308 is to go hunting with him next winter. Anyhow, among the joys of spending the holidays with them in general, he had plenty of venison that we ate, and among it he had some done into sausage patties that were unbelievable. When I started putting the 308 together, my 8 year old daughter immediately asked "how soon can we go deer hunting" :D
  7. I can't reach the screw on my adjustable block with the troy MRF rails installed. ugh, that will be fun to tune.
  8. I used to have a 70 back in the late 80s, 383, 4 speed with the ridiculous pistol grip, posi rear, I think it was N20 tires on the back? I know it was N series. Burnt orange metallic inside + interior too, black vinyl roof. Miss that car.
  9. jeezus. What state are you in? I thought it was ridiculous to see $15 for 100 packs at the show in FL, but you've got that beat
  10. Definitely want to head up your way to hit that 600 yard range once the 308 is done
  11. welcome from the edge of Pasco + Hillsborough counties
  12. I've never had any folder that felt quite so solid open. it feels like a non-folder. and I love the hilt too.
  13. Glad you did, its a perfect pocket knife
  14. any ideas if the tactical link works? http://www.tacticallink.com/Battery_Assist_Lever.html I already have one, in FDE waiting on my lower
  15. I am now after reading the earlier part of this thread carrying one of these. got an open box new one on ebay for $30 shipped I kid you not. nicest folder I've ever touched
  16. I'm hoping these are actually available cheaper once they are in production http://sharpsbros.com/hellbreaker-ar-15-lower-receiver-standard/
  17. in stock here $180 http://www.joeboboutfitters.com/Seekins_Precision_SP15_Forged_AR15_Lower_Receiver_p/skn-sp15lower.htm
  18. I've got a $6 front pivot pin detent installation tool on the way after watching the horror story videos on youtube for trying to install without :D
  19. I have a speedloader for my Taurus 357, but it doesn't work with the crimson trace laser grips on. Part of my question mark on using that is that its a ported snub nose, so accuracy for fast shooting is a bit rough. I'll probably try it out first with that before seriously considering a new revolver
  20. my walther p22 and ruger 10/22 (in bullpup stocks) both have fed anything so far, with an occasional failure to feed correctly. at worst maybe 1 out of 25 fails to feed. we'll see how this works out as I think I mostly shot cci blazer + the cheap federal stuff in the past
  21. I prefer revolvers personally. Although I want to try for the 3 gun competitions, and i'm not sure how well a revolver will work out for that
  22. Not exactly a super super buy, but not bad. for the few minutes they'll still be in stock that is http://www.cabelas.com/product/Shooting/Ammunition/Rimfire-Ammunition%7C/pc/104792580/c/104691780/sc/104536080/Remingtonreg-22-LR-Rimfire-Ammunition/734676.uts?avad=48247_a3fb33e7&WT.mc_id=al35987&rid=12&WT.tsrc=AFF
  23. I had been toying with the idea before the craziness of a $70 polymer lower, used cheap upper (gun shows have them around here in the $100 range for either a3 or carry handle), plain buffer, probably MOE stock + forearm before Newtown. Wasn't sure who had the lowest prices on barrels though. I figured I could slap something together for not too much more than $700 though, not counting optics. I don't have the money to do that now given the plunge into the 308, but i'm considering it for later this year/next year if prices + availability come back around to reality.
  24. I was pondering those polymer ones to do a super cheap 300 blackout build. I still may, but i'm going to wait till the 308 is together first.
  25. I recall looking at stripped polymer ar15 lowers for $79 before the nonsense. I'm sort of glad everything that happened did happen though, it finally forced me to get off my butt and get a 308 AR :) well get the parts ordered. lower should finally be here next month
