That's correct. Just make sure the headspacing is done properly. Mine was great with .308 but had extremely tight headspacing on 7.62x51. After a few hundred rounds, I tested it with M80 ball and it fired it flawlessly.
Go with Edge on the .308 to start off with. No need to fire ultra high end rounds but start off with good quality stuff for the first few hundred or so. A lot of it is preference. Some refuse to use anything but the best while others don't want to waste the money. I would zero in with quality stuff after break-in. When it's time, grab a few different 20 rd boxes (Black Hills, Hornady, etc) and find out what your rifle likes and zero in with that.
