Wife wants me to pull the carpet from the family room and redo it in wood. I'm dragging my feet but sketch has given me inspiration to start on it... sonner or later. :D
One of our rescue St Bernards developed similar looking lesions around his hind quarter out of the blue and a little later started limping. Turned out to be cancer. We only had the big guy for a year before we had to put him down.
Hey, you could get one of these....let us know how well it works hehe.

Congrats on your first Fathers' Day!
Check on the Viper HS-LR too - they are basically the Viper PS-T with the FFP but without illumination. I strongly recommend getting a milling reticle (MRAD/Mil Dot) in FFP if at all possible, and avoid the BDC reticles. Once you learn how to use the mil reticles they're invaluable!
My thoughts are with you. I've gone through a lot of rescued animals and have seen all sorts.
Are the lesions localized in one area or spread out? Are there any subcutaneous lumps?
It was definitely suspicious from the photos.I would have expected the Taliban filleting him up into pieces by now, but he was shown in traditional garb eating, drinking, whatever. It had me suspecting something was up.....
Get a CMMG MK3 , Armalite AR-10A or M&P-10
Don't get into the barrel length issue... we'll end up with a long drawn out battle about barrel harmonics, accuracy, bullet velocities etc....
I had the Nikon 308. It was OK but I wasn't completely satisfied with it. Didnt like the BDC reticle, exit pupil size on it. Returned it to Cabelas and got the Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP MRAD instead. Only thing going for the M-308 is the 20 MOA mount but that mount had issues of its own.
Can't go wrong with the Vortex Viper, really. It comes with almost all the bells and whistles found on higher end scopes.
You can hassle them and they usually ship almost instantly (the day after you pester them).
On a related note, I put in 2 separate orders over memorial day from PSA. One of them (the Burris PEPR) shipped out immediately on Tuesday while the other order (PWS FSC30 + NiB BCG) is still "processing". Go figure.
Burris PEPR - the 30mm QD version was on sale at PSA for $60 over the memorial day weekend. Picked up one but felt I should have picked up another (and would have gladly sold the extra to you).
^^^ this should be the point.
Americans who put their lives on the line for the good of others are worth any number of terrorists in trade.
I don't really care how many we give up - as long as we get our guys back. We can nail the released bastards later.
This Bushnell 1-4x24mm FFP is a very good general purpose scope for under $200. You can't find any other illuminated FFP scope at that price. Bear in mind that this is meant for CQB/mid-range use.
I've got one of them on my 300 BLK
Amazon: $199.99

It's actually pretty darn light. There are also other Chinky clones of that FF quadrail pattern for around the same price. I believe they all started as clones of the YHM type FF tubes. They all use the same type of barrel nut mounting.
Heat transfer? The keymod will warm up faster but will dissipate heat faster. The MOE, being polymer, will take a little longer to heat up but will retain the heat in the barrel for a longer time.
