  1. According to this: https://thecmp.org/cmp_sales/sales-faq/ it looks like you just have to belong to an affiliated club or organization as found here: https://ct.thecmp.org/app/v1/index.php?do=clubSearch or certain veterans' organizations: "starting in 2005 Congressionally chartered veterans’ organizations (VFW, American Legion, etc.) are recognized as CMP special affiliates" They will probably have them in their 2 stores, mail order, and also auction them online: https://thecmp.org/cmp_sales/cmp-stores/ http://thecmp.org/cmp_sales/rifle_sales/ordering-information/ https://thecmp.org/cmp_sales/guns-on-auction/
  2. Awesome!, I'm in!!
  3. How soon will the 308 version be available?
  4. Gotta say it's a thing of beauty!!
  5. My Shooting buddy is building a 308 based on a Matrix set and bought an AIM Surplus BCG that seems to work fine in the Matrix upper. http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=XAIMBCG308NIBBDG&name=AIM+.308%2f7.62x51+BDG+NiB+Bolt+Carrier+Group&groupid=2535
  6. The 2.5mm x 14mm Roll Pin was a little snug but drove in as a roll pin should - F/A functions fine with the slightly larger pin. @Malig8r - I also bought the LPK from Chris but this is an issue related to the upper receiver and since I didn't buy the UPK? from Chris, instead electing to source the components separately and using a standard AR15 Forward Assist (That I've used successfully with every other 308 I've assembled) the pin that was included was not even close to fitting properly - Anyway the metric roll pin was a perfect solution - I had to buy a large bag of them (I think it was 100) so if anyone needs 1 or 2 PM me and I'll take care of you!
  7. Has anyone else noticed the hole for the roll pin that retains the F/A allows a standard size F/A roll pin to fall right through I think I'm gonna try a metric 2.5mm x 14mm pin - looks like it should work.
  8. We use a lot of 609 and 620 where I work and when something has to be disassembled you have to take a torch to it to loosen it up or forget it, it's not coming apart! I'm not too sure I like the idea of using it on a barrel extension? Nice Rifle BTW!
  9. LOL Yea, I just ran a patch through the new Ares barrel and besides a hint of surface rust it came out pretty clean - I think I'd call Aero and run it by them if nothing else they should be aware if the need to clean them before use - I figure it's kinda like when you get a block or crank back from the machine shop, ya gotta clean it out real well (oil galleys, journals, bores, etc) before assembly.
  10. Good Question? I've got a new Ares 16" CMV Barrel here, I'll shove a patch through it and post the results shortly.
  11. Sweet! Thanks for the heads up JT!
  12. Yea, you guys are right, the entire politics section won't allow me to post either - I have tried IE, Firefox and Safari - makes no difference!
  13. I noticed that the other day on this thread: still no way to reply/post - seems like some kind of bug
  14. I'm measuring the pocket at .347" wide - it's not very roomy in there, I went with a YHM low profile steel block: Great price by the way http://www.mackspw.com/Item--i-YHM9381A And I am interested in trying one of these adjustable gas keys if it turns out that I'm over gassed - seems most are! https://rubbercityarmory.com/shop/rca-adjustable-gas-key/ Interesting that the gas key has been mentioned here but, nobody has tried one yet?
  15. I bought one from Chris with a set of the blem receivers - nice design, unusually small diameter - easy to hang on to. Inside dimensions are, just under 1-1/4" side to side x just under 1-1/2" diagonally and 1.700" bottom to inside of pocket for the gas tube.
  16. I see them listed at Ranier, very nice but, you'll probably have to have em cerakoted http://www.rainierarms.com/bobro-lowrider-buis
  17. I've shared this link here several times, this collection of prints is and other info is pretty impressive although there is nothing listed for a large frame AR upper in either the Armalite or DPMS flavor http://www.klstottlemyer.com/klstottlemyer.com/Prints_drawing_etc.html
  18. I did a couple from Ares 80%ers using the print I linked and they turned out well, the only thing that seems to vary a bit on the DPMS standards is the hole for the safety detent and spring - in my case it functions fine but the safety is "clocked" at about 9:30-12:30 instead of the expected 9:00-12:00
  19. You'll find some good blueprints for both the DPMS LR308 type and the Armalite AR10 lowers as well as some other useful stuff here: http://www.klstottlemyer.com/klstottlemyer.com/Prints_drawing_etc.html
  20. I think we may need a better description of the problem, model of free float tube, perhaps even some pics showing the problem and describing the solution you are considering? Also Samson makes a nice 9.25" Quad Rail for an AR10 and high profile DPMS type 308 (requires the optional DPMS thread barrel nut) that you might look at, the "Star 10" Also this thread sounds similar to the situation you have? http://forum.308ar.com/topic/11702-small-problem-with-free-float-handguard-with-rail-gas-block/#comment-158343
  21. Yea, I've seen them referred to as "AK Dents" - for use in an AR I'd avoid them
  22. That buffer tube doesn't look "clocked" correctly - to me it appears it should be unthreaded almost a full turn with the longer edge left at the bottom to engage the edge of the buffer retaining pin.
  23. WOW! That is nice! Outstanding catch!!
  24. Looks like I'm gonna have a chance to go put some rounds through the new barrel tomorrow, I'll let you guys know how it works I'm disappointed in the latest sale from Ares, they sent out an email advertising their "BCG clearance sale" and are offering 20% off BUT on the 308 Nib model I'm considering they raised the price $120.00 - some sale!!WTF! oh well, I'll just wait it out for a better price.
  25. Yea, look at the pics on the 3rd page of the thread I linked
