They did in fact originally claim to be DPMS compatible but seem to have since retracted that claim instead of fixing their fiasco

I think he's looking to build something like this: http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-10/psa-pa10-308-complete-miad-fde-lower-receiver.html if so, take a look at Magpul's website, looks like PSA is using Milspec diameter receiver extension (double check when you buy it) so, make sure you buy a stock that will work with your choice of receiver extension (carbine length or rifle length - carbine is pictured in the example in the link - the stock looks like an MOE model, I would consider an upgrade to at least the CTR model - it is similar to the MOE except it includes a locking feature to reduce wobble on the receiver extension tube) http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/lower-parts/stocks/magpul/magpul-moe-milspec-stock-mag400-fde.html http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/lower-parts/stocks/magpul/magpul-ctr-milspec-fde-mag310-fde.html And choose a grip - looks like there are 2 choices on the MIAD grip (Type 1 or Type 2, Check with PSA for details as to what model fits their lower) - I would expect a lot of AR15 grips should also fit - you can get a basic one for pretty cheap. http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/lower-parts/grips/magpul-miad-gen-1-1-grip-kit-ar10-m110-mag521-fde-flat-dark-earth.html http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/lower-parts/grips/palmetto-state-armory-ar-15-a2-pistol-grip-coyote-tan.html One important heads up, PSA seems to have a bunch of proprietary parts and specifications on this deal so you will have to buy a lot of your parts from them to ensure proper fit and function - The grip and stock are standard items but some of the items in the lower parts kit are PSA specific and we've heard their upper is not interchangeable with typical DPMS type uppers - we are still collecting info on exactly what PSA has created here.

I'm looking very seriously at that model, it's gonna be either that or a Fortis Switch on 1 build and likely a Samson on a second build that's currently in the works. But, my builds are conventional DPMS type receivers not Maten's

Great!! More fun $hit we can't have in Cali - Looks like a spin-off of the American 180 :http://www.brasscatchers.com/am180/index.html http://www.impactguns.com/american-180-m2-full-auto-machine-gun-custom-assembled-by-el-manufacturing-inc-275-round-drum-magazi.aspx http://www.elmfg.com/am180/articles/mgn12-95.html As Dane Armory mentioned, they are in Oregon, I ran across them looking for brass catchers. Looks like a blast but, not a cheap date! Reminds me of this thing :http://www.impactguns.com/ares-15-556mm-16in-beltmag-nkl-mcr-014-854118002360.aspx A belt fed AR Geez!!!

They are calling it the PTAC Tac10 .308 http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/catalog/product/view/id/18335/s/ptac-tac10-308-lower-receiver/?utm_source=NEW+PTAC+AR10+Lowers+%2499.99%2C+Complete+PTAC+AR10+Uppers+%24429.99&utm_campaign=Constant+Contact&utm_medium=email Not sure if they changed much from their earlier attempt? I do see that the lower is now marked as "multi" for the caliber.

12 GA Shotgun upper for a DPMS Type lower!
guruofhotrod replied to guruofhotrod's topic in Firearm Industry News and Gossip
Unfortunately that appears to be the case, it sounds like the rim on standard shells prevented them from stacking properly in the mag creating feeding issues. Cool idea though - it would be nice if they would get their nomenclature right. -
Just ran across this at West Fork Armory - Bad A$$: http://www.westforkarmory.com/ar-10-upper-receivers/2212-intrepid-ras-12-upper-kit-w-5rd-mag.html They also recently released their WF brand .308 lower: http://www.westforkarmory.com/west-fork-armory/2174-west-fork-armory-ar308-stripped-lower-receiver.html I would bet they won't have the issues that Palmetto has had!

Don't feel bad, I checked the 3 stores in my area and they were all sold out saturday morning

Was looking at this on thursday but, I haven't noticed too many guys here real interested in the 80% stuff, most seem to buy factory built lowers that are ready to assemble - Our "buddy" deleon makes a guest appearance in their promo video - the mood they set in the dark garage is kinda cool! https://madmimi.com/p/53ba55?fe=1&pact=25398901658 Edit: Notices shepp linked the same video! oh well!

Rumor has it, that one will likely be challenged and probably won't hold up in court since it essentially circumvents due process - let's hope so! -

Update: SB808 (the "ghost gun bill") was vetoed today! SB_808_Veto_Message.pdf -
Oh I'm being real cautious with this deal! I almost bought a lower from the 1st batch but, decided to wait to see if there were any issues that PSA hadn't considered - I had heard they were in development at least a year ago, looks like their R&D guys missed the boat!
-
@crimsonfalcon07, Thanks for the detailed info on your your experience with these new receivers, since you are in correspondence with a PSA rep that sounds to be pretty helpful, would you try to find out if their lowers are supposed to be compatible with a DPMS type upper? Thanks

Nice replacement policy on the Winchester Safes, "If your Winchester Safe is ever damaged in a fire or burglary attack, we will repair or replace the safe Free of Charge." http://winchestersafes.com/

I ran into the same issue, had me stumped for a bit - glad that's all it was! <thumbsup>

I just left it as it was, I suppose it would be pretty easy to press a small aluminum dowel machined with a step in diameter to match the bore of the detent (it changes diameter where the spring transitions to the detent) into the detent hole perhaps with a little loctite 609 and then re-drill the hole first to the small diameter for the detent followed by the larger diameter to the proper depth to allow for clearance of the larger portion of the detent pin then, you'd have to make sure the hole in the grip for the spring was revised to line up with relocated detent hole. To me it was more trouble than it's worth, I can live with the selector positions being off a tiny bit. Edit, Looking again at your pics, I now see the wider than 90 degree swing of the selector and as 98 first suggested, it would be a good idea to try another selector since the locations of the indentations determine the angle between the positions. The problem I encountered simply shifted both positions a slight bit but they were still 90 degrees apart and function just fine.
-
Either the Paperweight had the detent hole drilled slightly out of place or the jig I used had the fire control group holes slightly out of place, I'm gonna guess in my case it was the former of the two - either way when I drilled the 3/8" hole for the selector the existing hole for the detent did not intersect the selector hole on center it was slightly forward of center if I remember correctly resulting in the selector not being "clocked" correctly.
-
If you remove the detent, spring and selector check the alignment of the hole for the detent with the hole you drilled for the selector. The end of the hole for the detent should be centered in the wall of the hole you drilled for the selector. Also make sure there are no burrs in the end of the detent hole where it intersects with the selector hole, it can prevent the detent from protruding enough to engage with the indentations on the selector. I had those same problems with a paperweight that I did a while back.

For an alternative to Armalite type receivers, you might look into the Matrix Aerospace stuff, they manufacture the piston driven 7.62 for Ruger. As I understand it, they use an Armalite barrel nut and have an Armalite type cut on the upper and lower. I'm pretty sure they use both P-Mags or SR25 type mags as well. I don't have any first hand experience with them but I do find the platform an interesting cost effective alternative to the flood of DPMS type stuff out there. http://www.matrixaero.com/firearms/

New DPMS Type BCG for Aero, Palmetto Type Upper
guruofhotrod replied to guruofhotrod's topic in .308AR Parts
Let me clarify, most DPMS uppers that used F/A used a design that located the F/A plunger in the brass deflector and had a single "step" on the bolt carrier for the F/A Pawl to work against, Recently some manufacturers (Aero, Palmetto) have adopted a configuration identical to the AR15 or Armalite AR10 with the plunger located back closer to the charging handle and the bolt carrier having a series of serrations/notches along the side for the F/A Pawl to engage with. I'm curious whether the new Shadow Ops 308 upper with the F/A is of the newer style that is like the AR15? -
New DPMS Type BCG for Aero, Palmetto Type Upper
guruofhotrod replied to guruofhotrod's topic in .308AR Parts
@EasyEJL, Thanks for the history of how Shadow Ops got into the mess they're in, it certainly puts some perspective on the long lead time on my BCG order, I do have a question about this new BCG - was it designed to compliment the new upper that Shadow Ops has listed, the version that has the F/A provision? I wish you guys the best in getting production straightened out and look forward to the new products being in stock and ready for immediate delivery! -
Local Gun Shops That Stand Out - Good to Go
guruofhotrod replied to imschur's topic in General Discussion
@pewpew.308 I was wondering what happened to Salt Works Rifles - looks like the thread on calguns has all the info from them deleted? Did they run into marketing difficulties? I noticed they didn't seem to get their website going either? perhaps contracts with Military/LEO or some kind of NDA got in the way of the civilian market.
