  1. Or, the slot in the upper that accommodates the indexing pin may be cut too narrow for the pin or have a burr from machining preventing the pin from engaging.
  2. Here are a couple of pics of an Aero M5 upper (not an "E") showing the depth in wich the barrel extension should seat - also the barrel extension should measure around 1.240" from the end (where the lugs are) to the rear face of the flange. From the amount of mismatch you have it seems the indexing pin may not be seating correctly? Hope that helps
  3. This was back in June of 2015:
  4. When they were first released they had a promotional special of $99.00 - unfortunately that deal didn't last long, perhaps there was a manufacturing oops?
  5. When you get the SAA upper could you post a short review on it? The reason I ask is that I bought one from the first batch and the pivot and take down pin holes were substantially oversize resulting in a somewhat loose fit - for the $99.00 price I decided eventually I'll ream the holes slightly oversize and press thin wall bushings in the holes to bring them back to spec.
  6. Good Point! The market is driven by the demand - at least that's reassuring, I'm surprised that sumbitch (Soros) isn't trying to buy california!
  7. Just received this from my boss, Haven't had time to check it for accuracy: Marlin Closing Its Doors Marlin Firearms Closing Its Doors Marlin Firearms bought and CLOSED by George Soros. Even if you don't own a gun - this will affect you. This was checked on "Truth or Fiction" who verified it. They can be trusted more than Snopes. Marlin Firearms is already closing its doors. They are doing it to us, America. All gun owners and sportsmen need to see this. We cannot rely on the media to inform us of these happenings. Something you may not know is happening. Who is buying the companies manufacturing guns? For the last several years a company called The Freedom Group has been buying up gun and ammunition manufacturers. Some of the companies are Bushmaster, Marlin, Remington, DPMS, Dakota Arms and H&R. Some people worry that The Freedom Group is going to control most of the firearms companies in the United States. If you control the manufacturers you can decide to stop selling to civilians. What a perfect way to control guns. If you do some digging you will see that The Freedom Group is owned by a company called Cerberus Capital Management. Guess ho controls Cerberus? GEORGE SOROS,Obama's chief financier. He wants to restrict or ban all civilian guns. Pass this on to your freedom loving friends. This needs to come out. Why have we not heard about this in the"mainstream" media? I think this would be BIG news. (Soros also owns Progressive Insurance). If you don't know who George Soros is, do some research. This One-World Government atheist backed Obama with millions of dollars, and Obama is a puppet on a string controlled by Soros. Send this to every gun owner! SgtMaj John Devine If this is true it could be a disaster for us!
  8. Well, looks like Chris (Live Free Armory) renewed his domain - it redirected to a Go Daddy page yesterday that indicated it was up for renewal - good to see he is still going
  9. Just checked the "Live Free Armory" ( Chris Riedeman's ) website and ran into this:http://livefreearmory.com/?reqp=1&reqr= also has anyone heard how Van from Mech Armor is doing? Sure hope his condition is improving. BTW shepp, if you see this we had the services for my mother yesterday and when I was speaking to everyone I concluded with your caption "They didn't call them the greatest generation for nothing" It was so fitting and I want to thank you very much for that AWESOME thought!
  10. Nice, due to everything else going on in my life I wasn't able to get the .45 upper that I wanted so at least I might have a chance to pick one up in the future - saw this on their F/B Olympic Arms, Inc. All signs are pointing towards some sort of Olympic Arms continuing in the future. IF it does, it will certainly be under new management/ownership
  11. Want to thank all you guys for your kind support and prayers, Mom was a one in a million mom and also a Daughter of the American Revolution - a loyal and dedicated wife to my father (who was a Marine in WWII fighting for our freedom in the pacific - Saipan - Tinian - Iwo Jima) always stood by him and did a wonderful job raising my sister and I instilling ethics, morals, standards and the sense of responsibility that many young people these days don't get. So thanks again guys, your support is so greatly appreciated
  12. Guys, you have probably noticed I haven't been too active here lately, been preoccupied with caring for my 90 year old mother (she was in and out of the hospital for several a few month last year - finally got her home early last December) the Wednesday before last she developed a urinary infection and was on some strong antibiotics however last Tuesday her condition worsened and I had to bring her to the ER. Unfortunately things got out of hand and resulting in her kidneys shutting down, pneumonia developing in her lungs and her heart becoming overworked due to the hypertension and high CO2/ low PH in her blood - she was on a BIPAP and had two sessions of Dialysis but it was too little too late and my sister and I had no choice but to let her go to join my father who passed 10 years ago ironically when I was in Taiwan for work - this was the most difficult thing I've ever had to do and I will always cherish the time I was able to spend with her - this is going to be tough to get used to and it hasn't really hit yet. I know I haven't been around here as long as a lot of you guys but I still see you guys as my extended family and just wanted to let know that I appreciate being a part of this great group! Thanks, Always Faithful guruofhotrod (Chris)
  13. @shepp, Did you get the 16" barrel or the pistol upper?
  14. I tried to place an order with Olympic and received this email notification this morning: Note from Seller: Your order is very important to us, and we are grateful for your patronage. We wanted to take a moment to clarify our situation. Your order is being processes in the order that it was received. Due to the pending closure of Olympic Arms, Inc. under its current ownership on February 28, 2017, and the fluid nature of any acquisition by a new ownership group, we cannot guarantee that this order will be filled. To be clear, your credit card is not being billed at this time. The credit card system will verify your billing information and "pre-authorize" the purchase. This will put a temporary hold on your funds. In 2-3 days this temporary hold will go away. If your order CAN be filled, we will happily do so, and manually bill your card at that time. In other words, your funds will not be secured until we ship your order. Due to the ever changing inventory levels, and the number of orders before yours, we cannot give ANY estimates as to when or IF your order will ship. This is regrettable, but under the circumstances of our closing, we hope you understand. NO DELIVERY ESTIMATES WILL BE GIVEN. Should the situation change so that your order can be filled at a later date under new ownership, you will be contacted and given every opportunity to move forward with your order. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you. Looks like there is a possibility that they are changing hands - let's hope so
  15. I know this is an old thread but, since the "group buy" is kinda a standing arrangement here I wanted to inquire about the ETA on more AR10 Sniper charging handles? Also my thoughts and prayers are with Van Barker - come on, my friend - we know you can beat this thing! we're looking forward to your speedy recovery
  16. For those interested I got this in an email from 80% lowers.com GLOCK 17 POLYMER 80% LOWER & JIG Combo NOW $75.00!!! (ORDER NOW FOR NEXT RUN COMING IN STOCK SOON) https://www.80percentlowers.com/ I don't see the deal listed on their site though?
  17. Interesting setup, the lower accepts all standard AR15 stuff (of all common AR15 calibers) and their proprietary 308 upper/magazine conversion - all on one platform, details are in their (PDF) catalog "MPR 308-15" I've been interested in one of their 45ACP uppers for some time, may have to get one before they're gone! only down side is the proprietary magazines needed to make it work, I wonder if their upper would work with "CNC Guns" AR45 lower with "grease Gun" magazines? Anyone with any experience with this stuff?
  18. I've read a few reviews of the Poly 80 glock frame by people that are really into the 80% handgun stuff and the most common opinion is that they aren't that good especially for people that are just getting into the 80% stuff - I'm slowly making progress on a couple of 1911's and I've seen the 80% P229 recommended : http://www.matrixprecisionparts.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=8&products_id=91 And am very interested - the only bummer is for us guys here in commiefornia we have to build them as a single shot first, then change to semi - for the 1911's I'm looking at this: https://www.l10-machine.com/products/breaktop-single-shot-upper?variant=12084090113 or perhaps I'll ask a friend that was doing the SSE (single shot exemption for non-roster handguns a couple of years ago) if he would sell me one of his old "kits" that include a magazine well block and a barrel sleeve that reduces the caliber and lengthens the barrel to meet the 6 inch minimum requirement - I'll get a thread going on the 1911 builds as I get further along - one is going to be a clone of this:
  19. Well, Actually I think it's gonna be more like this: Or, with a "special" permit a few privileged individuals (LEO's?) will get to have these:
  20. Yea, I was thinkin the same thing - bummer!
  21. WOW! Those didn't last long - Already sold out, or is it a new model they are advertising early? great deal!
  22. I expect you saw the description: It's probably time to let the cat out of the bag on our latest project. For the last few weeks, Mike Schroeder (owner of The Cartridge family) and I have been in secret development of an internal magazine lock of AR platform rifles. We decided that it had to be simple, attractive, easy to install, universal, and above all else, inexpensive. We did it. We hope that you agree. From our perspective, as far as making your AR compliant, we don't have a choice in the matter. We either have to make an AR compliant, OR register it as an assault weapon. Obviously, that creates a bonanza for manufacturers of compliance devices, and puts consumers at the mercy of those designers. WE disagree. We would rather make money on something people WANT, not something they are (basically) forced to buy. So that's what we did. We managed to sneak a clever design under the radar so to speak. We are now patent pending on a single drop in part that replaces your bolt latch. When the rifle is closed, the magazine latch is restrained. When the upper is hinged open, the magazine release moves freely. The only thing yet undecided is available finishes, but we managed to keep the consumer cost to TEN dollars. March first will be the seventh anniversary of Bastiani Arms. My plan is to make that date the official release date of our lock design. If this whole idea sounds cool, please share this post and/or come in and check out what we're talking about. Test batches are being run right now at two local fabricators. One is using laser, the other is creating samples with laser and water jet. It's pretty slick......we think. We hope you like it as much as we do From their Facebook - sounds like a device that go's in place of the bolt catch and locks the mag release when the upper and lower are closed and the firearm can operate Damn, sketch beat me to it! - good find!
  23. First thing that I see is it looks kinda dry - lube the crap outta that thing with some Mobil 1 motor oil - get the BCG Drippin Wet!! also try a variety of different ammo and see how it behaves. She may just need a good break in.
  24. I was concerned that the third party Armalite style upper may not correctly fit your upper. Matrix, Mega Arms, Genesis, Knights Armament and likely a few others that I missed use the Armalite type cut on the upper/lower mating surface but there is some incompatibility between the different manufacturers - hopefully others here familiar with the models I mentioned can help you find a better match to your lower.
