  1. This is the first 30-06 I've ever owned. I'm a 7 mag man myself. But I really, really like this rifle just the way it is. The only way it is going to refurbished is if something breaks.
  2. Took her to the range today. Really fun to shoot. Been a long time since I shot a rifle with a peep sight. Still need a lot of practice. Here's my targets. First one is 50 yds including sight in and the second is 100 yds including sight in.
  3. I think I'll keep it like it is. Hoping to go shoot it Sunday.
  4. JT, being that it was born in mid '43, I bet could tell some tales. SS, I did look up the serial number and that is what I came up with. Actually, I think the tag that they attached to it said "June 43". Plane, I really appreciate your offer but I couldn't live with myself if I sent a "flawed" rifle to you and you got hurt disposing of it. I'll just have to man up and "dispose of it myself. I think a few thousand round through it should do the trick.
  5. Welcome from the East side of Big D!
  6. Look what showed up at my door today. I got really lucky. I beat the sold out date by 3 days. And I got in 2 months instead of 3-6 months. It is a Springfield Armory manufactured in June 1943.
  7. TexAg=Aggie? If so, welcome from a fellow Aggie! First, ask yourself what your main purpose is for the rifle, ie, hunting, long range, etc. That will help determine a lot of parts.
  8. He described me to a "T". Where do I get my handicap sticker?
  9. Welcome aboard from Texas!

  13. Way to go. Nothing more fun than calling in a nice gobbler!
  14. That's tough. Losing one of the family. Just know she's running around like a young pup in doggy heaven now.
  15. I had the same problem with Magpul also. I tried to trim it but could not get it to fit. Had to go with a free float one instead.
  16. If you don't want to buy the gauges, take it to a gunsmith and have them check it for you. It's money well spent. Either way, don't short cut this step in the build.
  17. Wow, he is a lucky guy. That could have been bad in a weaker pistol.
  18. Awesome looking rifle Blue, let us know how she shoots.
  19. Primary Arms has 20% off of all Geissele products for anyone looking for new triggers etc.
