  1. Haha.. No worries!... So many here from AZ was only a matter of time before we started crossing paths. <thumbsup>
  2. We got drenched pretty good last night. The road leading to my place turned into a wash!! Almost got the quad out to go play in the mud but thought better of it. The last time I did something like that it didn't end well...
  3. x2
  4. <laughs> :laughing4: He's got a point! <lmao>
  5. In for the review! <munch> Still searching for that perfect handguard for my build. HAHA!
  6. Welcome from AZ...AZ...AZ...AZ...AZ...AZ...
  7. I was looking at these earlier this week. Specifically the 24E. What's the no BS consensus here.
  8. Haha...gotta look me up when you come into town!
  9. Got some magpul goodies on the way...
  10. Lived in Tucson from 99-04. Wasn't so bad back then but now it's gotten overcrowded and the street infrastructure isn't adequate to keep up with demand IMO. I can't stand driving anywhere in that city anymore. I live in an itty bitty little place called Saint David which is 5-10 degrees cooler on any given day than Tucson and 10-15 degrees cooler than PHX. Plus it's green here. Big trees and above average water supply. The San Pedro runs through it so we have a lot of large cottonwoods and stuff. Plenty of places to go hunting, riding, shooting, all right outside my back door with easy access. Cochise County is pretty cool too. It just seems to me more relaxed than Pima Kounty or the Great State of Maricopa. I like living rural though... Do what you want... Nobody laying in wait to question you... We have a lot of freedoms the bigger metro areas just don't allow for. Sierra Vista is the largest "city" in the immediate area and you can find work there. The three biggest employers in the county are... The County, The Electric Company (SSVEC), and Fort Huachuca (tons of Gov't contract work). Being a close as we are to the border we do have more than our share of Illegals here. I've seen them when I've been out camping, I've found them hiding in the bushes near my house, I see the trash they leave everywhere when I go out riding.... so there is that. Patagonia Lake is the closest lake to me and it takes me about an hour to get there. But we like to hit that place up at least once a month and do some fishing. It can be hit or miss as far as that goes, but there are largemouth, and some monster catfish to be had out of that lake. -Adam
  11. Parts are up on the web page. Looks like 159.99 for a stripped lower and $139.99 for a stripped upper. So $299.00 for the set. The lower is actually cheaper than Aero and the upper is basically a wash. Except if you buy the combo through Aero and you come out $10.00 less than buying individually from PSA. Interestingly enough.... The location of the FA on PSAs upper is more or less identical to AP's which we already know is worthless with the current crop of DPMS spec BCGs.. At first blush both also look to use the older 'high profile' DPMS rail although there are some subtle variations between the two..... PSA... Aero Precision...
  12. Yeah i'm already looking at other ways to save weight. I've been rethinking the whole adjustable cheek weld angle given the stock height relative to the upper... I don't have any problems looking through my red dot on my AR15 so I'm not sure why I had myself so convinced the adjustable cheek weld was such a must have. Caught up in the hype... stupid really.. So now I'm thinking of going with a CTR. I have one on my AR15 and really like it. That would save me nearly 6oz. And if I go without a compensator/brake then there is another 3... I really don't want to go shorter than 18" for velocity sake, and I want to stick with a full mass BCG, the upper and lower are what they are so that pretty much leaves the stock and handguard for areas to save weight and I'm not sure I can beat the MI or the APEX except maybe with a CF tube... OTOH, I don't want to get it so light that it kicks the lineback tar out of me every time I pull the trigger. :D As always, I'm up for ideas
  13. Thanks bud! I'm learning a ton from these guys. If my build doesn't come together right it will be for no other reason than me not making the most of the awesome resources and people "in the know" around here. Welcome aboard brother!
  14. Ever hear of CNC Mogul? I bought one about a year and a half ago to start building custom guitars but the business never really took off enough so now it sits in my shop collecting dust most of the time. I've fired it up once since then to build myself a custom pool cue rack. It uses nema 23 steppers, rack and pinion drive, chi-com controller board, and a craftsman router for a spindle. Uses Mach 3 to run it. Nothing uber impressive but it is damn accurate. I was getting some tool chatter at first so I double reinforced the gantry rails and added some extra vee wheels to the Z axis to make it stronger (not pictured here) I can machine aluminum as long as I'm careful not to take too much of a step down or a step over with it although the speeds and feeds have to be through the roof to get anything resembling a proper chip load since a router only spins so slow.... it's much more suited to wood though.
  15. Those are looking awesome! What kind of CNC mill do you use? HAAS? 4 axis, 5? I've got a 36" x 48" 3 axis CNC hobbiest grade mill at home that I like to play around on but I'm always curious about the Big Boy gear. What software? Are you doing your own G-Code and toolpaths or running something ready-made?
  16. What a piece of sh!t. Id like to bust him in his f@cking mouth... Cudos to the two Marines for exercising the restraint they did. Dont know if I could have done the same...
  17. Wondering if Aero has anything to do with PSA getting into the game? In other news.. SAA to begin selling .308 receiver sets in 3.... 2.... 1....
  18. Welcome from AZ (again)
  19. Even more greetings from AZ
  20. Haha... yeah. All of my 'tacticool' training involved was what little bit (and I do mean little) I got out of "Chair Force" basic training. That and we qualified one a year on the M16 (which I never even got to fire in 'fun' mode) BUT, I was a badass at radio repair! Haha! On the other hand... if the nuclear apocalypse ever happens and you need someone to set up a longwire because HF is the only survivable mode of comms then Im your guy! :)
  21. Oops.. double post
  22. Naw, wasn't him then Baker has dark blonde hair. Trying to figure out who I knew that was tall with red hair.. Pretty sure I'd remember someone like that.
  23. He's an awesome dude. Still keep in touch on FB from time to time. Well if Tim was Tex, then 'Hoss' had to have been Steve Baker.
  24. You know, I just don't remember for sure. We had a guy in my shop, Tim Privitt, that we called 'Tex' just joking around sometimes, but I don't recall him using that nickname as a regular thing. He was a big guy from Texas though.
