Yup. I was Ground Radio (2E173) officially. But we seemed to get involved with everything around that base. Networks, Phones, Satcom, ATC radio. We had a sorta-kinda combined shop over there and everyone floated around to different areas a lot. There were a few times we even worked on the wing's stuff. I was there from 99-04. Made several trips down south to support Customs drug interdiction after the closed Panama and then we were some of the first boots on the ground when they began building up Al Udeid AB in 2001. We pretty much built the first version of the AOC that took over for PSAB. It looked a LOT different back then compared to what it is today.

Small world.. I spent 5 years there assigned to 612 ACOMS . Awesome squadron and some killer TDY's. I miss that place. What did you do there? I'm guessing you were with the 355th. Pilot? Crew chief?

Gawd that was funny as hell... had to show a couple of buddies at work.. we're all laughing our asses off so hard!!

Getting back on topic... Received the Mecharmor TacOps charging handle today. I'm really digging how it fits together with my Aero Precision upper: Thanks for the recommendation on that part guys!! I'm pretty impressed with it. <thumbsup>

Got this Mecharmor TacOps charging handle for my .308 build via the group buy. Very nice piece: Fits nicely with my Aero Precision M5 upper: I really like the latch release on the rear. Probably going to order two more of these for my AR15s

Looks like some .308 parts are just gonna have to wait a while longer. We got to talking on the phone about it and he said "You know what, $350 and its yours." And im like.. Are you sure about this.? I dont think I can in good consciousness let you sell it to me that cheap. And he's like.. "Yeah, but its not really my kind of weapon and I dont want it to go to just anyone. I want to know that it will be going to a good home and a responsible owner. Plus this way I know where it is if I ever want to borrow it to go out plinking." I said wow... done deal then... this is too good to pass on... So come next Friday (payday) im gonna do the deal.

A buddy of mine just offered me his WASR10 w/ 2 mags and 100 rds for $400.00 Damn... I've been wanting an AK for a while, O-butthole just passed his Russian Weapons ban... Maybe this is serendipity. But that's a BCG and a LPK for my .308.... Decisions, decisions...

I jumped in. For a matched upper/lower for $280ish shipped I couldn't pass it by (they had a discount code FREEDOM for 15% off). I'm gonna move forward with my original plan using a matched BCG and BBL from Fulton and so what if the FA doesn't work.

More information: Just got off the phone with Jessica at Aero customer service and asked about the FA. Aero is releasing their own BCG in September that will have the serrations for the FA. Parkerized only to start with a NiB coming sometime in the future. ETA unknown. Also an AR-10 BCG will run in that upper according to them, just make sure to match the barrel extension.

So basically.....Rendezvous in Yuma, bring the truck, the camper, the generators, and enough fuel for a week, a couple of gallons of some premium homemade shine, the YZF450 w/ the sand paddles, and a couple of boom sticks? This has potential... >:D

Gotta give a shout out to CDNN Sports this week. I spotted a deal on SlickGuns for a Bushy BCG for $89.00 so I grabbed one and a charging handle to finish up a basic AR-15 build I'm working on for my son. Package arrived today and had a pleasant little surprise in it. I thought that was a pretty cool way to say "Thanks for you patronage"... <thumbsup> Edit...hahaha... I just noticed the title got changed to free "poop".. funny. But I'm tracking now... this place is a keep it clean kinda forum.. its all good. :)

To hell with the FA, I bought the Aero upper and lower cause it seems like a good deal for the money. I'm sticking with my plan to get my bolt and barrel from Fulton and send in my upper to have them do the whole precision-install-headspace-port-n-polish-3-angle-valve-job thing.... If it runs like it should I'll never need the FA
