  4. Yeah, He just don't know.....yet, .....but he will soon, anybody mention Grilling, Good Brewskiing, the just right hard liquor for holding off the doldrums on a cold day? How alcohol and shooting don't mix but liquor and good grub do ? Never mind all that reloading and springs and buffering infoing, Gas porting/Impengementing, maybe some buffetering? elevation and windage MOAing, MIAing, and K9ing and TACcating?. He might think we are just into AR/LR 308/7.62x51ing , "Grease her up, Lock and Loading" and etc, etc.
  5. And this is the guy Biden appointed to be the new Green Energy Department secretary? that figures....
  6. I will turn 84 ,Lord willing, in March, wife turned 82 yesterday. Broke my left femur in 2017, and have limited mobility, no climbing trees or ladders. I attended Texas Tech for Mechanical Engineering for three years, got a job in the oil patch as an engineer, took a sabbatical, in the USMC to avoid the peace time draft in 1960, (talk about jumping out of the frying pan into the fire!) returned to the engineering job in the oil patch after I realized, I guess I was a slow learner, military life wasn't for me. Retired in 1997 as a RA and explosives auditor for US and Canada, to our lake place at Proctor lake in Comanche County and since the Chyneeze pandammic have been trying to stay at home. After this crap goes away, maybe in 2021, we will do some more traveling.
  7. Welcome from an older Codger from Central Texas (Comanche County) That is a nice rig-up for porch shooting, if I ever saw one!. I was a brown shoe Marine back before the "Matel it's swell " 5.56 peashooter was GI issue, started out with M1 30 caliber, graduated to M14 7.62 NATO and got out after black shoes became issue. I still have my first centerfire deer rifle (a pre 1964 Winchester .3030 model 94. and a Remington made customized 1903A3 .3006, I built in the gunsmith course. After that episode, I took a Gunsmithing course and started my gunshop as a second job. I got curious after a fellow Census taker friend in 2010 started talking about his affection for "Black Rifles" , Ordered a factory DPMS LR308 that was on sale for $500 plus a few pennies. I used it to find out how it worked. after taking it apart and putting it back together several times and doing a couple of mods, started shooting it, I really prefer the stock black plastic forearm to the round free floating ones, since I learned on rifles with wood stocks, and I get good accuracy out to 500 yards, well it suits me anyway. I am still a M1, M14 devotee, with a favorite M1A NM with a scope and also a mini 14 .223 which also has a few mods along with a scope. I closed the gunshop after Bill Clintom was elected Pres of the USA, I still work on my own stuff. I shoot a lot of 147 grain 7.62x51mm but also do the .308 Winchester up to 168 Gr. Federal OTM in the LR308 which is stamped .308 on the lower, and 7.62 1-10 on the16.5" barrel The M1A likes a steady diet of the Federal 147, 175 ,168, and shoots the 7.62x51 stuff.

Yeah, . . .I heard that all of those AZ guys were all overweight body builders!
  10. I bought a couple of boxes of that 9mm ammo a couple of years ago .... I might even buy a 9MM pistol some day.
  11. I am sick and tired of hearing those spineless snowflake babies.... Cry baby snowflakes.:..." I need the government to come to my aid!, I got ripped off by dirty old CTD" come take care of me Mr Bureaucrat , I can't take care of myself" "That is why I voted for Biden/Harris" Protect Me, take away all of all of those nasty guns, I might get shot" "I am afraid to leave my mom's basement"
  12. What do we have to come here in a boat besides your TEA and opium? maybe some potassium nitrate and unubtainium chloride? We can do without that Titetanium stuff, can't we can wean off that Chyneeze $hit? and learn how to make stuff again....... We will keep the Gulf open for our cruise ships, all else can come by UPS air and Fedex air. Also dredge out the Eastern Commifornia , ArewegonI, and Washingmarxis borders, which could just be a few miles East of LA, and San fransisco. Seattle. I figure we can dredge out the Rio Grande for recreation and nucleare aircraft carriers to patrol the Southern borders..... (we will need something to replace the wall Joe Blowjob will tare down.) we should have enough surplus M1A tanks to patrol New Mexico and Airazona Southern borders.I figure Deminciacratic attrition, and Covid19 will take care of the NJ, NY, Mass. and D.C. commie border states. Cut off the fuel to the Great Lakes and Global cooling will fix that area of commies, They will think they are in Siberia!
  13. You will need a lot of gravy, mushrooms and garlic to flavor out that meat dish!
  14. I had a gunsmith business for 20 years before the Clinton administration, when I returned my FFL I never thought much of the AR15 (M16) I liked the M1 and M14 better being an old school USMC regimental shooting team member before Nam. after I got out of the Corps I taught marksmanship at a local NRA rifle and pistol club and to a NRA sanctioned 4H shooting club, then around early 2014 I started reading and watching the black rifle guys and decided to give it a try, first off I bought a new factory DPMS LR308, got into the learning mode again and started coming here at 308AR forum, and kind of reverse engineered the LR308, disassembled it completely and learned how it functioned reassembled it and found how it worked. Now I am not afraid to do a little tuning, modifying, and making it shoot like I want it to, and began to do a build from parts, I still keep all the parts from the same make and model. I learned a lot from these real gurus, here, and am still learning.
  15. Did you check out that vendor in Abilene? I got several email messages from them, they are having a lot of Ar15 and LR308 parts on sale.
  16. OR.....Maybe some of this for a holiday dinner! Stay at home folks !
  17. I was hauling my stuff over across the lake to go hog hunting the other night when I run over a stump and my hard case jumped out and I didn't even know where it landed, No insurance on either rifle or the 7.62x51 ammo. I called State Farm and they said that is happening a lot, I reckon that boats ain't built like they used to be. I saved my hounddawg , flashlight and K-Bar, the guns were just for backup.
  18. WELCOME from an old codger in Comanche county at Lake Proctor. Know where that is? This outfit in Abilene has a lot of LR308 parts. cdnnsports.com , internet sales only.
  19. A real A Salt Weapon, for what bugs you
  20. I reckon you have already called the professionals at Palmetto State Armory ,and requested to return their pieces for a refund? What did they have to say? It seems that a lot of folks have trouble trying to mesh a different brand of uppers to the PSA parts, did they say you needed to buy one of their propitiatory Uppers? I wouldn't do any drilling, reaming or grinding, just return the PSA stuff for a refund.
  21. Maybe, just maybe it is a good idea to measure the gas port before you buy and install the new high dollar adjustable gas port. (98 has posted the sizes of gas ports for almost every situation you might encounter) It is kind of like getting drunk, If a half pint of whiskey don't get you drunk, it don't do any good to divide up a new half pint with a shot glass the next time, just go ahead and buy a full pint and see if it does the job. knock your self out!
  22. He said ......"I have been using center fire designs for months." Hey guys you gotta start somewhere, sometime. Welcome to the big time!
  23. Welcome from Texas! Pictures? Do a search engine search for: DPMS LR .308 OPERATIONS MANUAL. . .Mirosoft Edge will get you this as the top site: [PDF] Made in the USA. OPERATIONS MANUAL This manual covers 8 different DPMS Panther Arms rifles. Since DPMS was bought by the former Remington arms companies, and is no more their website may not be working. Do you have an email address to email an attachment file to? If you will complete your forum profile someone might be able to share a manual with you, no profile info, no one is able to share PDF files

    Grilling

I would say that really beats the traditional Thanksgiving Day fare of turkey and ham! Wife and I were alone (stay at home) and had nice grilled "T"-bones , baked taters and salad, Police dog "Sunshine" ate a lot of steak and promptly took a long nap. Unfortunately I watched the unnamed Washington Football Team put the whup upon the Dallas "sissified" Cowboys for a few minutes.
  25. I have a 3.125" diameter Tungsten alloy downhole logging tool housing (extreme pressure housing) that is 18 inches long with a steel bullplug in one end that I use for a "T" post driving tool. It is quite heavy for it's size.
