Welcome from an old brown shoe Marine, I live in Comanche county and go to Scott & White in Temple. I have a son that is a DAV from the Army and was also in the Marine Corps before he jumped ship. He lives in Killene. I bought a new DPMS LR 308 off the shelf and have enjoyed pulling it apart and making changes where I see fit. this mickey Mouse Matel AR plarform is new to me but I am getting to like the durned thing. I have always been a M1 Garand and a M14 fan for the semi-automatic high powers. I am also a Ruger Mini 14 .223 and 10-22 lover, Colt 1911, and Ruger wheel guns. Heck I may just be an American made gun type guy. Then a couple weeks ago I bought a couple of Franchi 20 gauge 48AL semi-automatics from 1965 and 1966, so what does that make me?......... my wife says "a C R A Z Y, old codger! " but she stayed around for a half century, because she loves me anyway......she is a keeper!

I used crushed walnut hulls sold by a drilling fluid and materials company. They use crushed walnut hulls for lost circulation materials. I also added a couple tablespoons of Brasso to the mix that gave a high shine to s.s. and brass.

Just curious, but why do you ask?

nice looking grips even if they are purple! I still have the Pachmayer wrap around black rubber dudes on my Colt Mark IV 70 series Govt model, not too pretty but it sure does feel good in either of my hands. did the ramp for wadcutters and some tweeking here and there. This is the second one I have had. I sold the other one after a friend saw my 16 year old son shooting Metallica Silhouettes with it.

There is another way to consider the bolts relative motion. Gas energy force pushes against the BCG body and expands the space between bolt and the rear of the BCG. This force would surround the bolt and cause there to be neutral pressure on the bolt and it would move rearward with the same velocity as the BCG except for the sealing rings on the bolt which causes the bolt and the BCG to seperate enabeling the camming action to rotate and unlock the bolt there must be relative unequal velocity the bolt must remain stationary, which it will anyway because it is locked to the chamber, the camming action must happen or the bolt would remain locked. The main purpose of the seal rings are to lessen the stress on the bolt lugs and notches of the barrel extension until chamber pressure is at a safe level.

I would like to see a picture of that elk hide. My wife and I were eating breakfast with the TV news on and the alert came one that an airplane had hit the WTC tower, the first one. Then as the camera was on the first tower burning we saw the airliner hit the second tower. It was an awfully tramatic and sad day for us American Christians. Such a terrible loss of lives, Thank God for our military.

Sorry Guy but your shower plan is bad, like not good, been there done that. The 1/4 inch plywood isn't enough and the flooring crap will leak at the seams. Do s. ome more looking for the shower enclosures.

I use a lot of tinfoil grilling veggies and keep the used stuff to make hats for my neighbors that are watching out for the black coptors and the gray camera drones they prefer the hats that smell like pineapples to those that smell like onions and peppers.

I have found out that you should just be truthful and ask for information. Sometimes younger guys want to act older and older guys like me would like to be young and innocent, full of piss and vinegar, instead of stale beer and luke warm coffee. There is a component of the direct impingement system often left out when comparing them to a "piston" system. That is the part where the gas pushes the bolt itself forward via the gas seal rings on the bolt to delay the opening of the bolt too prematurely without having to add mass to the bolt or having to use more kinetic energy via a stiffer recoil system on the BCG, so that the BCG is traveling rearward, and has broken the inertia of the heavy BCG at rest while the chamber pressure is still high, gives just a microsecond of delay before the cam rotates the bolt and the bolt unlocks without excessive friction on the bolt lugs and the barrel extension notches. this gives more consistent final chamber pressure which enhances accuracy, and a faster resetting time of the system IMHO

Dan Wesson? isn't that a CZ75 clone?

A round patched lead ball in front of 80 - 100 grains of black powder has been killing elk for almost 200 years. I wonder how many elk have been killed with a .22 long rifle? I know of one. Has everyone with a set of jingle balls left California for browner pastures and let their golden state go to crap? You folks need to get organized and elect some public servants with sense ......$hit fire! What are the traditional backpowder guys going to hunt with? bows and arrows or slingshots and marbles.

That is one dolled up sweet looking old slab of a pistol! Some folks make them look almost good enough to eat!

Yeah and in a few weeks get to see the fall colors, buy some cheeses., catch some big fishes. Does U-haul rent reefer trucks or trailers? Texas 500 - 600 pound feedlot steers are selling a bit lower than 250/100 on the hoof this week, It would be a better deal to buy meat up there and pay for delivery.
-
They are rustlers and they steal cattle from feedlots and also hijack bull-haulers, and hire illegal Mexican meat cutters and work out of their parents basements. Hey Sisco, do they deliver out of state?

I fixed grilled chicken breasts and mixed veggies on the "tru Infared" grill tonight, after the Texas Tech / Sam Houston State game. I still have a ways to go to get the meat and veggies done at the same time without burning one or the other, regulating the two different temps, are tricky, but I am getting there, if Darlene and Sunshine don't kill me first! I decides against buying The Charbroil Big Eazy Tru Infared smoker, roaster, grill. I already have an Tru Infared grill and saw that the Big Eazy is more useful as a oil-less roaster. I want to be able to slow smoke and also do cold smokeing, so I'm gonna use the stainless stew pot and build a cold smoker attachment for the Char broil grill, and utilize the side burner to start the chips, chunks or pellets to smoke. I will attach the outlet for the smoke almost on the top of the stew pot and I have some ideas about building the air smoke jet, pitot tube to pull some combustion air up thru some holes in the bottom and suck smoke out of the pot and into the closed grill, but on the side where I can remove the lid and add chips, and it will make it easy to dump the ashes, the lid don't need to be completely air tight since there will be negative pressure inside the pot, a little smoke loss will just show it is working okay, I think. I am going to try to use the old CPAP air pump to supply the air. I have two pistols to re-spring and 2 Franchi 20 Ga. 48AL shotguns to clean and check for needed parts for next week and kill some doves to grill with bacon, and make some with gravy. That will delay the work on the smoker, I probably will need a couple of days at the range, haven't been since I put in the new Gisselle trigger in the LR308. I really don't like all the mechanical noise and the rough feel of the action going back and forth either. Probably will need a silent buffer setup. I also need to sight in 4 scopes since I put on new mounts. I am getting tired of only working on my own stuff, may check about getting another FFL for a repair, buy and sell shop, nothing strenuous since I sold my machine tools. have some good hand tools and a couple of power tools, no bluing, this time around. that grinding rust and polishing steel is hard on an old man, besides keeping a set of bluing tanks fired up and cleaned sucks.

Midway is having a big 4 days sale Geissle triggers are on sale for the sale price you have to add it to the price. I also would like to get the word out about the good work the Midway Foundation is doing. According to the local newspaper, Larry gave my our local 4H shooting sports club a special Winchester MODEL 70 rifle worth over $1500 to raffle off as a fund raising project. The Team has an account with Midwah a condition of the gift of the rifle is to deposit half of the proceeds in the teams. account where the Foundation will match 100% of the deposit. That is a really good deal for the 4H Shooting Club. I will buy from Midway, how about you? FYI: Alien Gear is having a holster sale
