Have you shot this rifle in its original gas and recoil system form? If not, do that first to see if it runs. Thinking this or that might be wrong is only waisting brain power until you actually shoot the thing. There is an adage that runs around here that applies to these large frame guns, "DON'T COMPLICATE $HIT WITH COMPLICATED $HIT". Go out and shoot it as it is before you start throwing money at a problem you might not have. If you have a problem come back here with it and folks will get it sorted out for you provided the advice given is listened to.

^^^ That right there will fix you up.

@98Z5V I've got an adjustable block incoming hopefully this week. Just in time for the lower and the rest of the parts to get here. I'de be tempted to put the block and gas tube I have on the upper and mount it on my SBR lower just to give it a test but at 17* outside I'm going to pass on that idea.
-
All the upper parts showed up yesterday and I'll be putting it together today as soon as I return from getting the BCG from my local gun pusher. With the birdcage flash hider, and KAK pistol tube this thing is going to be 23" long. @98Z5V The gas port is only 3" from the front flat face (front of pic rail) of the upper, and measures .109" in a .75" journal. With the back of the bullet travelling under two inches from inside the case to going past the gas port I'm thinking an adjustable gas block wouldn't be the worst idea. Your thoughts? There is going to be a lot of gas going down the gas tube hitting the BCG unless its tuned down. Mocked up for visualizing. Nothing tightened down.

An option to the birdcage or can is a flashcan to direct all the blast forward. The can I have is a Form 1 that I built with quieting a 308 AR in mind. Its 10+ inches long. It works great on my 8" barrel BLK with subs but it goes against the short concept adding that much length to this little thing. I've looked at the Law folders. Very nice and very pricey. One review I saw stated that it adds about 10.5 oz to the overall weight. Not something I'de like to do. It would be slick to have the folding option but for practical purposes it might save 30 seconds over grabbing the upper and lower from the case and popping the pivot and takedown pins in. I have a laptop case that has been laying around for several years that I'm going to try to use. Yes I've got a chrono and several flavors of 300BLK reloads to put to the test.

It seems to me that when I discovered the differences in the tubes you were busy out at the SDTF up to who knows what kind of shooting and other shenanigans. A bit busy in other words.

@98Z5V Its going to be a bit unique because of using the KAK Sig brace buffer tube. I held it up to one of my other rifles with a standard 7" ID tube and the KAK is 2" longer! I thought WTF, never gave it a second thought when it was installed before and it worked just fine. Tonight I pulled out a tape measure and found out what is up. The tube is 9" end to end exterior length, and 7" interior length. The thing has a 2" long aluminum plug in the back of it. WTF solved. Being as long armed as I am I might just add a bit to it before sliding the foam pad on. Lord knows I've got enough solid aluminum at the back for a screw to grab on to and hold my homegrown extension in place.

Thanks! I also have a SBR lower I can slap this little bugger on for those super short rifle moments. I might have to break down and camo another AR so this one matches the others I have.

Definitely not a human baby, I'm way to old for that nonsense. A micro 300 BLK pistol build. 5" barrel w/micro gas, 4" handguard, KAK round pistol buffer tube that will get either a foam pad to start, or my original Sig brace later. Sights will be the Burris Fastfire III I already have with Magpul flip ups front and rear. Everything in between will be standard AR15 fare. All the parts are inbound right now. The big question mark right now is muzzle device. A standard birdcage flash hider is what I'm starting with, but I might get a flash hider I can thread my suppressor on to. This thing should come in somewhere around 22" total length and hopefully will turn into a fun little blaster and truck gun. I'll see how it does with the 110gr Varmageddon loads I have for my other BLK or I can always make up some special loads for it. An almost life size picture of what the upper will look like.

Sounds good! As long as the turbo encabulator doesn't overcharge the tubular gas re-energizer enough to blow up and become a gonadal emasculator. That would be BAD, VERY BAD!

Is that like splicing in a flux capacitor?

Yeah. We don't help people spend time but we sure can help spend money. Especially when its someone else's. Welcome from WI.

Some know a little, just enough to give wrong info. A lot of folks at M4C are still "if it ain't Colt or BCM its crap" kind of guys. I generally skip the AR15 threads and check the Beyond 5.56/.223 section a few times a week. Usually not much new there but once in a while there is a post looking for help on a large frame so I send them over here.

That might have come from me. I've sent a number of people over there to here. Welcome!

The mailman brought a box today and this is what was in it. Its on the bench warming up as I write this and I'll have the first loads out of it yet this afternoon. I'll see how it runs.

There, I fixed it for ya!

You bastidge! You just had to go and say things like that! They are on clearance now at Graf and Sons for $245 because the Chargemaster Link is coming out that has bluetooth technology(why do I need that?). Grafs also had .243 and .270 bullets in stock that I need for the key rings, so I pulled the trigger on all three. You fukker. Now I'll see how it measures up to the scale and system I have going now. I owe you one hell of an enable.
-
I've sent a couple guys here from M4Carbine.net who were getting answers all over the place on what was wrong with their rifles. I pretty much tell them "Go there, describe whats going on, ask your questions, then LISTEN to what your told". You'll get a rifle that works.

@98Z5V I hear ya brother. I've tossed around one like that for quite a while now, but I can't get past the fact that they are +/- .1 gr for accuracy. That can be one hell of a lot of powder difference in a case as small as a BLK, .223, or a Grendel. Maybe it doesn't make that huge a difference in reality but I still can't wrap my mind around it. My load for 110 gr Supers for my BLK is 19.1 gr, and that +/- .1 gr accuracy is possibly a 1%+ variation across the loading session, 19.0 to 19.2. My scale is slow to react and read, but my initial powder drop takes literally a second and then trickling up to the required weight takes the time. I've used a buddy's Chargemaster something(don't know the model) helping him out and it was mind numbing watching it spin the tube dropping the charge then slowing down to trickle, then hitting the intended weight, and going over, then saying "Done". Or dropping the charge, trickling up to close to the intended weight and stopping, basically saying "Close Enough". What I have may be slow but I know exactly whats in each case. Within .02 gr anyway.

Ok, so not really cheerios but Trailboss powder sure reminds me of them. I've been getting my reloading going again the past couple weeks. About 1000 rounds or so. The last 400 have been 110gr Varmageddon subsonics for my Ruger Ranch 300 BLK, the bunny fart loads. 4.4 (rounded up to 4.44) grains of TB gets those little buggers to an average of 990 fps out of the 16" barrel with good accuracy. I read all the time where people are running their subs as close to 1050fps as they can get thinking they have to be just under the sound barrier for best results, or just looking for the most speed and staying under it. For me, in two different rifles, with four different weights of subs the sweet spot for accuracy has been 970-990 fps. This load being the 990. There is no way this load will cycle an AR but in this bolt action RARR its stupid quiet. Next on the agenda once it warms up enough outside to not freeze sitting at the range, I'm going to see what these 110 subs do to milk jugs seeing as they are designed as varmint bullets and explode on impact at normal 300 BLK velocities. The scale reads to the nearest .02 gr and I overshot the 4.44 on this one, . After using this scale I'll never think of the usual +/- .1 gr accuracy of most scales as accurate. You can't imagine how much powder difference there is over that .2 gr variation. Maybe I'm to anal about it but oh well. 3 rings of Tb is about .02 gr. +/- .1 gr = +/- 15 rings if my math is correct. 100 bunny fart loads reads to go. 50 yard target. The rifle.

We Don't talk about Rona! mp4.mp4

I think I posted this around here before someplace. It gives you an idea what @JBMatt is talking about. The holdover for a 300 BLK sub at 1000 yards is HUGE.

Sweet with just a hint of nitro glycerin after taste.
