Somehow I think the population of gators in Minnesota will never reach a huntable level. The wonderful winters would surely take a toll on any reptile that doesn't hibernate. But yeah, this guy sure has a story to tell once he gets the deer and gator mounted.

There are about 42/lb so whatever 308 I have when I wrap things up for the season is yours. Thanks

Calibers you want are still coming in so it will be about 2 weeks or so. It shouldn't be airdrop or forklift big, but we can hope!

“No clue how it got there, or why,” Klocek wrote. “I’m guessing someone had it as a pet and released it when it got too big.”

Things are getting weird! Mon, November 9, 2020, 3:56 PM CST MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A Minnesota man who was tracking a large buck on the opening weekend of deer hunting season wound up finding another prize for his collection when he came across a 3-foot alligator. Cory Klocek was hunting Saturday on farmland in East Bethel, about 40 miles (64.37 kilometers) north of Minneapolis, when he took down with a shotgun what he described on Facebook as a “beautiful 10-point buck,” the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported. Right about that time he came around a pond and spotted the alligator. “No clue how it got there, or why,” Klocek wrote. “I’m guessing someone had it as a pet and released it when it got too big.” Klocek, 35, contacted a local conservation officer with the state Department of Natural Resources and got the go-ahead to shoot the alligator as well. He retrieved a .22-caliber handgun and headed back to the pond. “Only in 2020 can you go out... for deer gun season opener in Minnesota and shoot an alligator," Klocek said Monday in an interview. "I’m still at a loss of words.” Department of Natural Resources spokesman Joe Albert confirmed Klocek got the green light from his agency to take out the reptile because it has “no special protection.” Klocek said he intends to pair the buck and the gator together for a “fun taxidermy piece.”

Welcome Mesablu! With no Mil-Spec in the 308AR world you need components that will play nice together. You have an Aero Precision lower listed. Put that together with an Aero upper and BCG. You will have the 3 biggest working components of the rifle all from the same source. They will play nice. As was mentioned by Doc, the handguard you chose won't work, it needs to be designed for a 308AR. Again, an Aero handguard will mate with an Aero upper without problem. While you are at it, buy an Aero lower parts kit to go with them. You have most of the parts listed as individual items, is that because a complete Aero LPK isn't in stock anywhere? See where I'm going with this? All parts from same source and they WILL work together. With the current panic buying climate I know finding parts is a nightmare, but getting all the working parts from the same source will save you from after its built nightmares. The kind of nightmares all of the "my rifle doesn't work right" posts come from. When I first joined here I was in the process of building my 308AR. I had read a lot of the horror stories of rifles not working. I already had an Aero upper/lower/BCG/lower parts kit on the way. I put it together, took it to the range, and from the first shot it functioned. No headaches or horror. Just bang.

BCG cotter pins are a special shape. When I was looking for them I think I got them from Brownell's.

Our wally world in BFE northern WI didn't have a gun displayed the last time I was there. This is in an area with maybe as many deer as people wandering around.

What do you have on order or in the mail? Part 2
dpete replied to imschur's topic in General Discussion
This escalated quickly! This past Sunday (Oct 25th) I found stripped AR15 lowers at Primary Arms for $52.99. So just because I could I ordered one. It should be at my friend the gun pusher by the end of this week. We all know how gun parts, even the most insignificant ones can spawn entire rifles. That is exactly what this lower has done and its not even in my house yet. All the rest of the parts for a complete 223 Wylde chambered AR are now on the way to me AND ITS ONLY TUESDAY! The only parts it hasn't spawned yet is a scope and mount. Damn! -

I was chuckling to myself the whole time I was typing your list. What you and the others don't get, hopefully Montana dude comes through again and takes away.

I have no experience with 45 Raptor or 460 S&W reloading but I have used Lil'gun a lot in 300 BLK supersonics and tried it in subsonics. Something to consider with Lil'gun. Great velocities in supers and it worked ok in the subs. What I don't like about it in the supers and subs was the fact that it burns HOT. Hot enough that you didn't want to hold the suppressor or bare barrel after about 5 or 6 rounds. IMR 4227 on the other hand had great accuracy with subs and burned much cooler. Hold the suppressor after shooting several 5 round strings of test loads cooler. Just tossing personal experience out there with no idea how it will work out for you.

We're about a month away from deer season up here, the tourists are mostly gone, Covid has locals all fukked up, the most prolific local shooting range is still closed due to DNR stupidity, and brass intake is down to a trickle. My buddy who happens to be a gun pusher and licensed private ammo manufacturer is getting ALL the common pistol calibers. He wants them bad enough that he is getting the 380/9mm/40 S&W unsorted mixed all together. The oddballs I keep and sell to you guys. The range may open for 3 weekends before the hunt so rifle shells will still come in as I can get there, but things are pretty much done. Here is a list of what I'm saving for who here on the forum. If what I have here isn't accurate let me know. @RedRiverII 45 Colt 44 mag 444 Marlin 338 Win Mag @MikedaddyH 10mm 300WSM (brass & nickel) @98Z5V .243 .260 300 Win Mag 308 LC Headstamp 308 Hornady Win Match 30-06 LC headstamp 7mm-08 (brass and nickel) 8mm Mauser Factory 300 BLK 30 Carbine As always, thanks a bunch!

Thats why I post these updates. So you can prepare your heart meds in advance of getting the total. At least this time around you won't need an air drop and a forklift to get the box into the house.......I think

The 45 Colt and 44 Mag totals may be a bit bigger. I have some to count that weren't incuded in this update. But they're yours.

How many here took at least 30 seconds to find the gun in this picture?
-
That looks much better in nature than on the bench! Great job. I didn't have access to my pictures before you got it done but here is what I've done with two of mine and my son's. Upper one is my 6.5 Grendel SBR. Lower one is my suppressed 300 BLK pistol. Both were done with rattle cans and dabbing with a sea sponge. My son's 300 BLK pistol as an Imperial blaster. Turns out the white/black makes for great snow camo for deer season up here.
-
As was said over on the Grendel forum. The difference between a Grendel and a 6mm ARC is: A grendel is more of a hunting caliber you can target shoot with. A 6mm ARC is more a target caliber you can hunt with.

I know you're a huge Hornady fan but I just found this. These are over-runs not blems. http://www.shootersproshop.com/on-sale/nosler-6mm-105-grain-rdf-hpbt-over-run-500ct.html
