I got to shoot a SA Socom 16 today. It was accurate, easy to maneuver with and I have to say...I WANT ONE! I would also like to handle one of the squad DMR M1a rifles to determine which I should take home with me.

That snake would be good eating right there. Plenty for everyone. He's a big one!

Forgot to add that one of the guys hooked me up with 100 brand new Lapua 556 cases and 2K CCI spp. He was the guy that brought the Springfield Socom 16. I gotta tell ya...I really liked that rifle!

So what is the word on the use of KNS anti walk trigger pins? Are they needed more on a 308 platform? Need to have, nice to have, or don't bother?

Made plans with some old Vietnam vets to take them out shooting today. Don't jump on my case for calling them old because they are in their mid 60s ;) Anyways, one of them hadn't been shooting in over 20 years. Weapons used were: AR 15, LR308, and Springfield Socom 16. Sun was shining, temp was 65, and fun was had by all! Today was a good day :)

Just ordered one. Missed the last group trigger buy because I had joined the site a couple days after it was over. Then I saw the Warning about the facepalmbook notification and I had to jump in on the ordering action.

Yup...that was just me being a smart Alec and making light of my hurry up and wait situation.

Just ordered an Aero Precision M5 20 inch assembled upper. Usually takes no more than 3 days to get stuff shipped from them since I live so close. Hey what can I say...it was on sale for 10% off.

Unfortunately there are many calls that cops get to go to that have no good "side" and they catch the poop end of the stick no matter what they do! Need to wait and see how it all plays out.

Welp...no turning back now. The 20 inch assembled upper has just been ordered and my credit has been charged. Thanks to everyone that provided valuable insight/input on the question. That means you alone Farkle! Let's not have all the others that viewed this thread but not reply get all butt-hurt because I didn't thank them too ;)

I look forward to the video showing a comparison of 98's regular loads and the new & improved max loads. We need this to ensure that "reduced recoil" loads are not sure substituted. All for the sake of science of course ;)

Thanks for the replies. Gonna order the 20 inch barrel as soon as I get done typing this. They are having a 10% off sale which basically negates the state taxes I have to pay. I did send them an email to inquire about if or when they would release a M-Lok version in M5. The response was that they were in the process and it should be released in the next few months. I would prefer the M-Lok over the keymod but hey I have a couple more lowers to build out right? Lol

It also fits the Aero M5 upper perfectly as well. I tested this as soon as I got it in the mail.

Damn...sounds like the truck broke down and they need to either tow it or do a lateral transfer. Either way it's always a disappointment when you're anticipating a delivery & all excited about it to learn that your stuff isn't gonna be there as soon as you hoped!

Does anyone have feedback on the accuracy of the AP barrels? I know that for my build from the ground up version I will be looking for either a Criterion 16 nitride barrel or Rainier Arms match/ultra-match barrel.

Learned a valuable lesson this morning...you see I was reading this forum in the wee hours this morning & decided to check out the Tactical Machining link; saw that they had 556 lowers on sale and somehow a few of them ended up in my cart and then on my credit card. Lesson: be careful of the early morning link views or you just may end up in a moment of weakness with a few more soon to be builds on your hands.
