Trash, Lots of people building 308s from the ground up. I agree that it is best to get a matched upper & lower if this is your plan. I have some AP sets and I just finished assembling my first. I did go with the AP pre-assembled upper on the build and used the AP lpk to assemble the lower since there were a few parts that were proprietary-ish...like the take down pins and bolt catch. My next build will be exactly as I want it to be at the time I build it; but I have come to believe that with the ever improving list of options it may not stay that way...who knows? Best of luck in your endeavor and I look forward to seeing your build when it's completed.

So here it is: Aero Precision 20 inch assembled upper, Magpul pro sights & 25 rnd magazine, A2 stock with DPMS LR308 rifle spring & buffer. AP lower completed with AP lpk.

Got mine in the mail last night. Haven't done anything with it yet.

Well...it's official... I assembled my Aero Precision lower today and now I'm the official owner of a 98% Aero Precision M5 308 rifle. The only non AP parts were the A2 stock, DPMS LR308 rifle spring and rifle buffer set. Now I just have to get Ole girl out to the range and break her in!

I do not have a Tac-Ops CH. I don't want to detract from your post but thought I might add that I do have a Raptor CH with an A2 stock on my Aero M5 (308) set up and have no issues with functionality or clearance.

Ok...here's my two cents for what it's worth...I agree that there was what I perceived to be a conversation that should have occurred in PM rather than the boards. Admittedly, I am rather new to the forum so the rules of etiquette are still being learned for what is or is not appropriate. I will say however that I showed considerable restraint upon reading the "ugly American" comment and did not reply. I am a very proud American patriot & did take offense to your comment. I wouldn't have volunteered to serve my country for as many years as I did if I did not love it so much. Secondarily, my stepfather was Canadian and I respected him greatly, in addition to some of the Canadian forces I got to work with as well: good people. So I want you to understand that I am not at all anti Canadian. Long story short (don't bust my balls about this response not being short <lmao> ) I don't think you need to be banished however there might need to be a reset with a bit of contrition involved.

Laz, I may be reading your post wrong but I am hearing two possible misnomers. You said that DPMS states to stay away from steel cased ammo but then say your ammo is copper washed. The copper washing is in reference to the bullets themselves (projectiles) not the cases. The steel cases whether they be lacquer coated, zinc coated, pick your coating, will not obturate (seal the chamber) as well as brass cases will. This may lead to premature throat erosion. Some argue that by the time you shoot enough ammo to erode the throat of the barrel you will have saved enough on ammo to replace the barrel a couple times over. Just wanted to clear things up a bit so that we are all on the same page when giving or receiving information to assist in this discussion.
