Howdy from the Texas side of the borders. On my .338 Federal build I used an Aero M5 upper mated to a Blitzkrieg Tactical 80% lower. They fit and function perfectly with very little "fitting" needed.

I have both. like and use both, but the LaRue is the one that I am switching to for all the rifles that I use for hunting.

I don't have enough rounds downrange yet to comment on how well it will hold up but I recently purchased two Monstrum 6-24x50, FFP scopes. These are heavy scopes, seemingly well made. When I compare the clarity with my Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 I really can't see any difference in sharpness or light level, but that is with 70-year old eyes. They have a lighted reticle and the parallex adjustment is on the side as in a tactical scope. Originally I was going to mount them with a Burris PEPR mount; however, the distance between the rings is too short because the parallex and horizontal adjustment controls are offset. I ended up mounting them on very cheap QC mounts that I got from Amazon, I think they were $39. In any event I mounted the scopes on a 6.8 SPC and .338 Federal ARs. After a quick sight in I put around 30 rounds down each at 200 yards and both stayed in about 2" circles (on a cheap UTG bipod, no rear support). Next time to the range I am going to check zero, remove the mount and then remount to see if it will maintain zero (saw this done with this mount on a YouTube video and it worked). The reticle is etched, not wire, and the FFP takes a little getting used to, but I am getting to like it. These scopes list for $229 and I picked these up on Amazon for $219.

Howdy from the Texas side of the borders. I've built a 6.5 Grendel and a 6.8 SPC on the AR-15 platform and 6.5 Creedmore and .338 Federal on the AR308 (DPMS) platform. Just be careful as you move into the various calibers on the larger platform as tolerance stacking can make you do a lot of fine tuning (and machining). If you enjoy that it is a lot of fun, at least it has been for me. If you want everything to work from the first trigger pull, well, good luck!

I have two Faxon barrels, a 16" .556 pencil and an 18" .308 medium weight. Both are very accurate, sub MOA!

As a die hard Steeler fan it was tough to maintain my boycott but, fortunately, I just went to the range and was able to persevere.

I also have several UTG scopes and like them for their ease of dealing with parallax and locking knobs, and they hold zero very well. An alternative that you might want to consider are the new Monstrum FFP scopes. I got two of these to try out (in 6-24x50) and have one on my 6.8 SPC and one on the 338 Federal. I just zeroed them this past weekend and have the following observations: 1. I originally was going to use a Burris PRPR mount but these scopes are too long, because of the offset of the parallax and horizontal controls) to fit. Instead I am using a very cheap mount from Amazon which seems to be doing surprisingly well. 2. The clarity and light transmission are very close to my Vortex PST (also 6-24x50) which is second focal plane. 3. The FFP reticle is a bit challenging to get used to, but once you are used to it everything becomes very easy. 4. So far, they are holding zero but only have about 30 rounds down range. Next time out I want to test how they hold zero and then take off the scope (the cheap mounts are quick release), put it back on and see if it holds zero with the change. 5. These are significantly heavier than the Vortex and are built like tanks so they should hold up, and with the etched reticle I should never have a problem with wires coming loose. YRMV
