  1. AR pattern .308 rifle. My understanding is that Armalite's AR-15 design at some point became public domain, so pretty much all AR-15 pattern rifles can share parts. The same is not true of the .308 AR pattern rifles (other than things like stocks and handguards). It would be interesting to see a detailed article explaining the interchangability of parts among the various .308 AR offerings. Charlie
  2. We have exactly one variety of ammo in 6.5 Creedmoor. It may be the best thing since sliced bread, but I know zero about it. I'm gonna check it out, but if I had to pick one it would be .308. It's a shame that they don't offer the RPR in long action like 30-06 or 25-06. Those are some flat shooting rounds, and available in multiple loadings pretty much everywhere!
  3. We got one in the store today (Academy #59, Shreveport). It looks good! The one we got was 6.5 Creedmoor. I would rather see it in .308 or .243 because ammo much is easier to find, but it handlles and looks really good! Charlie
  4. A Sig Sauer MPX carbine. I picked it up on the 14th, but didn't get to play with it until last night. This thing is slick as snail snot! It has a telescoping stock like the H&K 9X series, and its lightweight, modular, and cool. When I got the goodies installed on it I must have cleared the house half a dozen times before I could put it down. I can't wait to try it out at the range.
  5. Message received. Thanks JT!
  6. Welcome aboard cousin! I hail from SW AR around the Magnolia area. Also have relatives in Mountain Home and Fayetteville. Currently in NW LA, and probably there for good, but I miss the old home place.
  7. I thought I might be interested in it for a rifle conversion but: 1. No uppers available, and 2. It's a pricey sucker, and the rifle version costs $150 less. Weird! I haven't seen any piston AR type firearms in the wild. How do you tell if it's piston or DI if you can't see the gas tube?
  8. Transferred the Uzi locally yesterday. Please close topic. Thanks.
  9. On hold for local sale pending receipt of payment.
  10. Vector Uzi Carbine. 4 Mags. As New. I bought this Uzi on January 26, 2005. My 01 FFL of that time ordered it directly from Vector Inc, and it came in a cardboard box with one 25 round Israeli magazine, a muzzle cap, a manual, and a QC tag. You can see these items in the photos. I added an original Israeli Uzi sling (somewhat worn) and three additional 25 round Israeli marked mags. This Uzi is made on an original IMI receiver, and all parts are original IMI. Vector bought the tooling and parts when IMI shut down in 1989, and (eventually) produced correct Uzi Model B carbines until they filed Chapter 11 last year (owner conflict issues). Vector Uzis are widely regarded to be equal in quality to original IMI product. When I recieved the carbine I put it in the safe, and it stayed there for years. In May of 2008 I took it to the range and fired about 25 rounds through it. My eyes don't much like open sights these days, so I put it back in the safe and looked for a scope mount. I eventually found one, a B-Square Uzi scope mount, but when it arrived I learned that it was not worth bothering with. Yeah, it was that bad. I am located in Shreveport LA, and I'm asking $775.00 for the Uzi plus actual UPS ground shipping for everything you see in the photos except the table and the denam cloth. E-mail me if you have any questions or want additional pictures. I will ship next day for CC and MO, personal checks wait 10 days, or until you send me a pic of the front and back of the canceled check, to ship.
  11. Sold and shipped today. Thanks for your consideration. I would edit the title to reflect that, but the "Edit" button disappeared.
  12. I remember four incidents that impacted the nation on this scale: 1. The JFK assasination (obviously, that's what we're talking about). 2. The space shuttle Challenger malfunction on January 28, 1986 when at 73 seconds into flight it broke apart and, ... you know the rest. 3. The space shuttle Columbia when it burned up on re-entry on February 1, 2003 4. 9/11/2001. Nuff said. I did not watch the first incident as television sets were not then common in elementary school classrooms, but I did watch the shuttle malfunctions over and over on live TV while the news crews tried to make sense of the disaster (if that's what they were doing. They might have been whoring for the viewers like they do today). But 9/11 was special: On 9/11/2001I was in my office getting things set up for the day, and one of the housekeeping staff said a small aircraft had stuck the WTC. So I tried the local news sites (nothing), and I tried the Dallas news sites (error 503), and the LA Times (error 503), and I knew something was up. Eventually I was able to get through to some website with video, and once again, we watched the attack happen over and over and over. I finally found a live feed, and then the second plane hit. I called my wife who was working in the same building, we went and collected the kids from their school, and went to our home in the country. I did not feel remotely safe until W announced from Barksdale AFB that he was on the job (about 2:00 PM as I recall). But we did not stand down for about a week! Charlie
  13. 5th grade at Shreve Island Elementary. I really didn't know what to make of it. First JFK, then MLK. Add Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison (yes, I know they were both congenital idiots who died from drugs), and RFK to the hippie riots and Chicago riots and you've got an excellent recipe for paranoia. The feeling didn't really go away until Ronald Reagan was elected president and the Iranian hostage takers capitulated. I hear people idealizing the '60s and '70s as some sort of idylic uptopia. If you lived through it you know that the reality was somewhat different. Charlie
  14. I forget who first referred to this as World War III, but he wrote that it began with Jimmeh's Iranian hostage takers. Or possibly the 1972 Munich Olympic Games, but either way this poop has been going on for too long. The daesh are uncivilzed barbarians, andt's time high time that we recognized them for who they really are.
  15. Bobby Jindal (R), govener of LA told them to take a hike too. This was not a surprise, as he was the one that had the covert "Planned Parenthood" videos projected onto the LA capitol building during the PP "protest". So they moved elsewhere to moan and whine (poor wimps). Bobby is running for prez of the US, but not a serious contender. That's kind'a too bad because he's been a real asset to LA. Charlie
  16. How well I know!
  17. I actually own an FJ Cruiser, and it never makes that noise (primarily because I don't permit whiny females to ride with me!). Neither does my Taco! :-D
  18. I have an offer on this rifle, so it's on hold pending receipt of funds. Thanks
  19. I shot this group off a sand bag with my other AR-10BNMF. This is "Walking it in" at 200 yds. Round 7 was one click right from round 6 (Bushnell Elite 6500), and I called it good enough for 1MOA of deer. We were shooting Remington 180gr CL-PSP (my application is white tails). Armalite claims less than 1MOA, but we routinely get 0.75 or better with commercial game rounds. I bet they will do close to 0.5 MOA with match ammo. Charlie
  20. Bump one more time. And I'll drop the price to $1850.00 shipped and throw in two more brand new 20rd genuine Armalite mags. C'mon guys! You deserve something nice for Christmas, and this AR-10BNMF is about as nice as it gets. Charlie
  21. FB definitely has a plus side. I have reconnected with friends from high school, old bands I was in (I play music too), and jobs I had when I was in high school! It's a cool tool, but I need to watch my mouth if I'm going to ever get a job. And I hate that! Charlie (retired, bored, and looking)
  22. I've been on Facebook a while, and I have learned a couple of things about it I'm a founding member and past president of the local homebrew club. The previous prez and I maintained a facebook page, but only to drive potential members to our website and forum. The guy who succeeded me was a technology dumb butt, and didn't delve into on-line media. For six years the club website and forum thrived, and the forum was teeming with new posts and information. There were recipes, experiments, equipment and ingredient info, a newbie help forum, and all sorts of stuff. Then we got a president who was gaga over facebook and pretty much migrated all business to it. Then he took a powder and left me holding the sack. All of a sudden I have a dead forum and no data about membership, events or business that has been conducted and contemplated. The problem with trying to operate a club off a facebook page is that all posts are not categorized and organized into topics like they are on a forum (we use phpBB). I found that nobody was keeping records, and what little information there was was scattered all over multiple facebook pages some of which I could not access! I'm playing catch up, and it's happening, but it's a slow process. The other thing about facebook is that potential employers might not like it that you're active in certain areas, or have opinions that are contrary to theirs. I am active in shooting, collecting and appreciating firearms, and a strong supporter of The Constitution and the 2nd Ammendment (this gives some people hives). I like cars and trucks, and playing with them (he's not green!). I'm an avid homebrewer (he's probably a drunk). I am a strong believer in taking responsibility for your actions and paying your own way (ooooh! He's racist!). You get the picture. Charlie
  23. We're building a shop and I need to move this rifle, so it has been listed on Gunbroker. See it here: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=514432160
  24. +1. I have a TA-11J on my AUG and it's the best magnified optic I have ever owned.
  25. Sure. I live in Northwest Louisiana. The closest major city is Shreveport.
