What do you have on order or in the mail? Part 2
ARTrooper replied to imschur's topic in General Discussion
Tom before you get your panties in a bunch and make a big long speech, you could have just asked that if I meant SSA instead of SSA-E. yes I misspoke and what I originally posted was correct. I have the SSA, which specs are almost identical to the LaRue. sorry for the confusion it was a long night working and I think I grabbed the first acronym my eyes could focus on from your comment, which was apparently the “SSA-E.” Admittedly it was the wrong one, not trying to mislead anyone here. -

The take up for my SSA-E on the second stage is not as smooth as my LaRue, that’s the biggest thing that stood out to me, otherwise the weight did feel so similar in both stages between the two and I couldn’t tell the difference. -
Well that’s how most manufacturers work, they manufacture basically the same thing for many brands. From hun parts to Walmart brand milk. Lol.

Custom .308 build AP lower and DPMS (full parts kit)
ARTrooper replied to ThisGuy's topic in General Discussion
For M5 Aero Precision lowers, you are going to want their lower parts kit because it is slightly different to make it easier to assemble and disassemble. Such as the bolt catch being threaded for a screw (in the parts kit) instead of using a roll pin. Just have fun building it after you do your research and buy the correct parts. Heck it took me over like 2 years to build my first and I had no special tools. Build it as you get the parts that fit together and buy the special tools only if you have the money to make things easier. -
Doesn’t holosun make primary arms red dots also?

I like it for the price I paid for it, but honestly I like the feel of my larue mbt-2s straight trigger better. Maybe I need to just break in the geissele. -
Should I feel ashamed that I might be getting a cheap sig red dot that my friend got off primary arms that I really like? Lol

No people who I go through for my investments don’t have congressional contacts apparently 😒

As much as I think our military needs to be better equipped, I don’t think this is the way. Need to get them light and better protective gear before giving them Call of Duty Black Ops futuristic equipment. Shooting accurately during the day or night I don’t believe has been a problem, especially with red dots and acogs just like the military to fix what isn’t broken. Reminds me of all the money wasted on the F-22s or the debatable F-35s. But our F-14s, 15s, 18s, and A-10s have been doing a damn fine job against anything they have had to deal with. and as far as the 6.8 cartridge goes, in my opinion, I don’t see anything 6.8 out there that is so far ahead of 5.56 that it is worth replacing every weapon.

Bought a Geissele SSA trigger off a good friend for $100. It was on his wife’s gun and after 20 rounds she decided she wanted a single stage trigger. And to top it off he threw in two 20rd SR-25 Pmags as a surprise without me knowing. 😁 -
Check out the post from December 30th. I am no expert on gas port sizes, especially with your length barrel, but seems you aren’t the first to be under gassed. I believe your gas port diameter is to small. @98Z5V has way more knowledge and should be able to confirm this.
-
If it doesn’t function reliably with the gas block fully open, I would take it off, check the gas port size in reference to the data collected here. If it is within the tolerances people have identified as acceptable, then it might be as simple as the gas block not being properly aligned with the gas port. One of the easiest things to make an oopsy on, even for experienced builders.
-
Why not try opening up your gas block completely? Generally with the fixed stock setup from aero should be fine, unless I am wrong, it’s usually the carbon ones that are the issue. But you are right, criterion generally are pretty good with their barrels and gas ports. And these things work great with regular gas blacks, why restrict the gas flow at all unless running a suppressor. My suggestion is open the thing up all the way and see if it runs better at all, also a lot of times even a slight hair in misalignment can take away from your gas. What was the distance from the gun that the brass was throwing at 3 o’clock?

Congrats on the retirement Cliff, and I agree with you about getting the social security early. We don’t know what the future will hold so live your life enjoying yourself just incase it is it won’t be there tomorrow. That’s why instead of 19 more years I am really thinking about 14. I guess that’s a long time though for things things to change.

That adrenaline sure can get to you as a new hunter. Lol.

I was just in awe the kid didn’t get kicked in his own jugular.

Well that’s what we used to shoot deer with on the road but they took our shotguns a year after they gave us patrol rifles. Many of us were not happy.
-
@DNPthat was hilarious. actually, I might of mentioned this in another thread, while I was hunting this season I shot a doe with my 6mm arc. The 103 eld-x did not exit, which apparently according to hornady is very common. So the deer wasn’t bleeding out as fast as they usually do and there was a horrible blood trail. Well a twenty something kid from the big city of La Crosse jumped it and tried to shoot it twice, missing both times. So he jumped into the creek it had fallen in and I watched this kid slit this deer’s throat as it was kicking around like crazy. Kid had such big balls, I gave him the doe. Also because he hadn’t seen any other deer and I already had two from bow and one from gun season. also, 9mm from 6-8 feet away often times ricochets off a deer’s skull instead of penetrating. Rarely do they stay still for you

That electric annealer lane found was what I planned on building. Wasn’t going to post until I had it built though. But now I have to fix a fridge for the second time in two weeks. Lol. Those funds are out the door

Deer are no joke, I would never do something that insane. We had a deputy shoot a buck several times to put it down after it was hit with a car and the thing got up and charged the deputy. It lifted his 240 pound frame off the ground and slammed him back down, breaking his back. But I have heard of way worse injuries and seen them on other deer.

I thought @98Z5V was the mentally I’ll one, but talking in the 3rd person is a sign of mental illness… or sometimes just someone that is arrogant and full of themselves, but that wouldn’t be you, since you have been totally humble since being here.

Merry Christmas to you guys also. I wish you all were close by, especially for the holidays, since I like you more than my real family. You have definitely become the family I have chosen and I am thankful for the brotherhood here.
