  1. It functioned flawlessly. However, I wasn't overly excited about the accuracy with my usual hunting load. 1.5 MOA. I'm going to fine tune it to see what this barrel likes. I also shot my X bolt that day and it's always a tack driver but it was also a 1.5 moa gun that session. So the jury is still out. I just discovered that I've been over sizing my brass though. I made a batch that just bumps the shoulder back about .003"-.005". That should help. I'll keep y'all posted here:
  2. Rock Chucker Supreme inbound! Btw, on sale right now. $112 at midway and that site that rymes with ramazon.
  3. I dunno what cases you're running but that seems light to me. Max load for those pills in Varget is 43 grains at 2.750. Might try to work it up. Take it with a grain a salt. I'm hardly a 308ar guru. Soak it down wit motor oil a repeat.
  4. Took a slow mo of ejection
  5. Good little range session this morning before it got too busy. Results with new Faxon pencil 16" were mediocre. 1-2 MOA. This was with 5 shot sessions with 10-15 second rest between shots. The gun functioned beautifully though! That's the main thing. The Odin Works "tuneable" gas block was very easy to tune. Had it spitting piping hot cases in a orderly little pile at 2:45-3:00. I might have to work up a load to see if I can reduce these groups. However, I also shot my X-bolt which is normally a MONA (minute of nat's ass) shooter, but today was on par with the PA10. Maybe my kids were "helping" me reload that last batch. Oddly enough my 35 Remington shot better than both. Anyway.... The Armaspec SRS worked perfectly. No SPPRRAAANNG when fired and feels like a 1911 when charging. I like it. Sorry, no group pics. Before I could get to my targets a fellow shooter had posted his on top of mine. I hate people. I leave you all with this...
  6. Your on fire today MM! LQTM <-(laughing quietly to myself)
  7. I was looking at this. 458 socom upperGood reviews mostly. Comes out to $418 with coupon right now. I chickened out though.
  8. "You ever had a chunk of wire pulled from your eyeball by a giant electromagnet, boy?" "Well, no" "Then quit yer bitchin!"
  9. Get it? It's a sketch.
  10. Restocking my 165 grain Sierra gameking supply. Also bought a DPMS 308 bolt field repair kit, mostly to get the G2 extractor and elastomer spring.
  11. Dat brass though.....$.70 a piece!
  12. Trying to talk myself out of buying an upper. First child stays. The second may be packing.
  13. Today might be the day... maybe tomorrow.
  14. Kinda cool update: I had my finger prints taken for work and one can clearly make out half of a .308AR bolt on my index finger from the scarring. This might get me on the naughty list with the f3ds.
  15. Yeah, but who killed 2pac?...?...?and JR?.....?
  16. I'm beginning to see that. When I grow up, I think I'll build an Armalite.
  17. Just installed the Armalite tube and it was worth the trouble. Not only is it the correct length but the way it is bent makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. The AR15 tube had an upward cant when installed into the 308 frame because of the larger barrel nut circumference and taller port in the upper receiver. The Armalite tube accounts for this in the way it is bent therefore the tube is running much more parallel with the barrel nut, BCG, and gas key. The AR15 tube would contact the end of the barrel nut. No longer does it contact the barrel nut. The Devil is in the details. Now I just gotta shoot this damn thing.
  18. This looks like a good start https://www.deltateamtactical.com/Aero-Precision-M5-308-Stripped-Upper-Receiver-Builder-Kit-with-Premium-Toolcraft-Nitride-Bolt-Carrier-Group-Charging-Handle-Included-_p_6249.html?mc_cid=f1869318d2&mc_eid=b06024f715
  19. Linkage: http://www.schuylerarmsco.com/product.m5-308-stripped-receiver-set-993 I'm fighting it..... must......re......sist. If it was the "low" profile I'da done whipped out the plastic currency card. Must look away.
  20. Build it. Schuler arms has Aero M5 upper/ lower combo for 185 right now. You can build a nice rifle for under $1k these days. Tons of free info on how to and troubleshooting here and other facets of the interweb.
  21. Cooked up some Varget stuffed 308 cases, topped with a 165 Sierra Gameking HPBT. C'est bon!
  22. @acgeorge I swapped the barrel on my PA-10 and found my existing tube to be short on the new barrel. On my quest for knowledge, I came across the following thread. @98Z5V is WAY more "loquacious" than myself and he does a fine job of ironing it out right here, I think.:
  23. Gas tube looks short. Check out this thread. Gas tube . From what I've read, sometimes the short tube works, sometimes it doesn't. I had to get one from Armalite.
  24. Good thread! Much helpful! Very necro'd!
  25. Yes this one's main purpose is for one shot kills. Maybe 5 or 6 rounds in succession for a sounder of swine. I decided to hang on to the 18" that came with the upper originally. It shot very well and I'll end up completing a separate upper.
