  1. Barrel ext is good. Gas block port to port is on as well. I even removed the gb, then put an alumnum square against the upper, and used the gas port as a point of reference. The Faxon was off centered about 1/16". Using the same method the PSA was centered . Gas tube enters the BCG tube with little to no resistance. All good No said laser in my arsenal.
  2. I removed the hg to see if it was the hg giving me a false indication. I held a square against the upper and the barrel is in fact tilted towards the right. So, I removed the Faxon and re-installed the PSA 18". Guess what... It centers up perfectly. I'll be in touch with Faxon on Monday to see what they say. Kinda bummed out. @FaxonNathan
  3. No longer for sale. Please close. Thanks.
  4. I did not measure the original barrel. GB fit is perfect. I'm leaning towards the upper receiver being the culprit. It being the lowest common denominator in this equation. The fit between the upper and lower, for example, is similar to an old worn out barn door. I'm bout to man up and go APrecsion or F-1 on this build.
  5. So I replaced the barrel in my PA10 with a Faxon 16". Once I put it all together I noticed that the gas block was closer to the hanguard on one side than the other. The handguard I'm using is a Diamnondhead VRS-T. I double check the port to port alignment and its good. I mic'd the barrel to hanguard at the end of the HG and it's .067" off center to the left. Not sure if this is a barrel extension, HG, or upper receiver related problem. Any suggestions? Thanks!
  6. If I could do it over, I'd buy the stripped upper, Faxon barrel and BCG, good adjustable block, and the accoutrement to complete the upper. And welcome from Cajun country!
  7. I bought the nitride version and it did very well with my handloads. Factory Federal 165 fusions would do 1.3 moa at best. But Faxon is having a great sale and I couldn't talk myself out of a 16". I have yet to shoot it though. You should check em out.
  8. I know what you mean. I saw some 22lr and 22WMR at the store the other day. I got all choked up. ?
  9. You could buy a stripped PA10 upper, quality barrel, and bolt. I do find that the PA10 receivers are much lighter than most. I just installed a Faxon 16" in my PA10 today. My rifle weighs 7lb 15oz empty, no optics. Optics and mount add another lb.
  10. Faxon 16" came in today. You fellas were right... I love it. I took the opportunity while I had the credit card out to buy an optic better suited to what I built this thing for, to carry and hunt. I own 2 Vortex Diamondback scopes already and they have been great. The trend continues with the PA10. Also installed a Odin Works tune-able GB. Brought the empty weight from 10.25 lbs to just under 9 lbs. Might head to the range in the am. Here's a fancy photo of my updated "pretty pretty". Thanks for the opinions on the 16!
  11. Works in your 870?
  12. Wait......we still talkin' 'bout guns??
  13. Love me some SGammo! Think I'll mosey on over there right now.
  14. Wow. 2013. Only thing I miss about 2013 is my hairline. I jumped on an 870 on sale at academy with a Rem rebate to boot. Got the Blackhawk Gen3 but I really liked the Magpul.
  15. Measure and count coils. Compare to see what you got.
  16. Glad i'm not the only one with a high dollar "budget" PA10 My Faxon 16" will be here Friday! Note to self: Next time, start from scratch.
  17. R.I.P. natural selection.
  18. THANKS Robocop! It ain't gonna get no use sitting in my cabinet. I don't facebook but I'll swing by and check it out.
  19. Welcome Sarge! For the money, I don't think you can go wrong. I have a Pa10 as well and I'm very pleased with it. My only advice, shoot it first, then mod as required. Looking forward to seeing your new toy. And congrats on retirement!
  20. Yeah Wash, it's a different hunt. You gotta go deep on public land. I use my boat to travel to my areas. Then pull up some hip boots for the trek. No feeders or cameras are allowed so you gotta get em on their terms. On top of that, there is an "if it's brown, it's down" mentality on south Louisiana public land.
  21. Recently joined so here's a couple from the last few seasons. Public land hunter... for life!
  22. I gotta start using the word "Loquacious" more often. My peers would be so impressed.
  23. Nice! I like the building more than the shooting. I was the same way in my mud truck days. Building was the best part. I'd get all nerved up when I'd run it though.
