  1. I got 11 boxes of that stuff at my local wallyworld a couple weeks ago at 7.00 a box. I bought every box they had. It's not bad stuff. My PA10 shoots 2-3moa with it. No malfunctions at all with it. If I can find it again, I'll buy it up again. Great range blasting ammo, and I'd use it for hunting in a pinch.
  2. My Pentax scope is busted. I was shooting yesterday, and suddenly my shots started to walk on me. Then, suddenly it went blurry. No adjustment worked. A closer look revealed that some lenses inside came loose, and were bouncing around the front of the scope. It was toast. Time for a new scope. So, I went to Academy and picked up a Nikon Prostaff 5 3.5-14x40 SF BDC. It was on sale for 219.00. I've never owned a Nikon scope, but was very impressed by the clarity and sharpness as I looked through it, and compared it to other similarly priced scopes. So, I figured since it was on sale and I liked it's features and it appeared to be good quality, why not. So, I took it home and mounted it on my PA10. I'm hoping it will do well for me. Has anyone had experience with this particular scope? How do you like the scope? I've downloaded Nikon's SpotOn program to my phone so I can more effectively use the BDC reticle. It looks pretty easy to use, and pretty versatile. I'd be interested to hear y'alls opinions on this particular scope.
  3. If you're on a tight budget, I doubt there's anywhere less expensive than PSA. You just have to make sure you use their stuff mostly. I'll probably put together another rifle from them at some point. I'm really enjoying mine.
  4. You can get the PSA PA10's even cheaper than that if you watch the sales and buy a complete upper and a complete lower. Then put them together. I got my upper for 399, and the lower for 179. 578 plus the 30 dollar transfer fee. So, 608 out the door. I added a set of 50 dollar scope mounts, and a free scope, and I'm in business. Mine works good, and seems to shoot decent enough. I haven't tried many brands of ammor or sizes of bullets. It's been mostly milsurp and factory 150's, because I'm a cheap bastard and can't stand spending tons of money on expensive ammo, lol.
  5. Thank YOU Matt. Cross Ammo will be here on the 14th.............................................must.................shoot...............more.......................
  6. I've got a couple Simmons scopes. One is a 3x9 that isn't on a rifle at the moment. I thought about using that one on the PA10, until my friend gave me the Pentax. On my bolt 30-06 I have one of the older Simmons 44mag scopes. It's been flawless for a long time. Once I zeroed it I've never had to adjust it again, ever. It's been a great scope. So far I do like the Pentax. It'll just take some getting used to, because I've never used a scope with that large of magnification. It's definitely not a woods hunting scope. I'll be using it on an upcoming deer hunting trip though. Me and 8 buddies go on a hunt up in the panhandle of Texas in December every year. It's a meat hunt, and we shoot nothing but does. We are allowed 3 each. The hunting area's are mostly fields, and mostly long range. Well, long range for me. Most of my shots last year were 200+, with one kill at a bit over 325yrds. For me, that's long range. I'm used to East Texas woods hunting, where shots are typically less than 100yrds. Sometimes, much less. And, I use a crossbow a lot. So, this long range hunting is not something I do a lot. I may also use it on a ranch out near Post Texas. I go there usually once a year to hunt hogs and aoudad sheep. Ranges can be long in the caprock country there. My longest shot there was close to 350yrds. On those hunts I typically have my bolt guns, the 30-06 Savage 111, or my Browning A-bolt .270. Once I get comfortable with a good solid load with this new PA10 it'll probably go along on those hunts. I have a feeling I may need to go to 165grn bullets or larger, from everything I'm seeing online, and youtube. It seems like these rifles prefer the heavier weight bullets. The ammo I have right now though is all either 147 or 150grn. The Remington 150's being the most accurate. With what little practice I've done so far, I'd be comfortable attempting a shot on a deer out to 200yrds with the Remington stuff. With a little more practice, maybe farther. I need to find some of the Remington 165's so I can see if they'll be more accurate. If they are I'll use them for the hunting. So far all I've seen is the 150's and 180's. I'm not ready to spring for the 180's, as the velocity is a lot less, and I'm not sure how badly that will affect my poi at longer ranges. I don't want to lose too much velocity by going to heavier bullets. I shoot the 165's in my 30-06, and they seem to be the perfect compromise in that caliber. So, I'm hoping to find some for the .308.
  7. Glad all is ok. I sure thought it may be worse than it was for Florida.
  8. I gotta quit coming here. I just spent some more money. I've not tried the Malaysian ammo, but I'm going to now. At that price, why not. I didn't get a can full, just 5 of the 40rnd boxes. It'll be good plinking ammo if nothing else.
  9. I took advantage of their summer sale, and got the upgraded PA10 upper and lower. I really like it. They're still on sale. And, last time I looked they were still in stock. Only now they aren't the summer hunting sale. They'll be on the daily deals, and the weekend deals. If you get on PSA's mailing list they will email you with all the sales. You can also get on their web site, and hit the PA10 button, and look at all that's available with that particular genre. Same for the PA15. That web site has cost me a bunch of money the past couple of months, lol.
  10. Mine looks the same. Mine does have a tiny bit of movement though. It's similar to a lot of other AR's I've fired. Mine functioned good. No issues with the rifle. And, it was fairly accurate. It's got potential. Do y'all think that a slight bit of movement between the upper and lower will affect anything? I didn't even notice it until I saw this thread, and checked my rifle for it. My rifle has the same gap as the OP's. I fired 180rnds yesterday with it, and it functioned good. I field stripped it and cleaned it today. I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. My bolt looks like the OP's as well. I never noticed that until I saw this thread. I think I'll quit obsessing, and just shoot it!! I'm finding that I really like more punch in an AR. Funny thing, I noticed at the range nearly everyone had AR's they were sighting in. There were probably 10-12 guys with new AR's, and there was one lone bolt guy at the end of the line. The bolt guy was a reloader, and was testing some custom loads. He'd shoot a three shot group, and wait for the cease fire, while the AR guys were blasting away.
  11. Bfoosh006, thanks for posting all of your work with the PA10. It's been very informative so far. I purchased an upper and lower also, the ss 18" mlock one. The lower has the EPT trigger. I shot the rifle yesterday. It did ok with Remington Core Lokt 150grn ammo, and Monarch 147fmj. I was getting sub 2 moa, with the Remington stuff going close to 1 moa. I think the rifle can do better with a better trigger. Plus, I think I'll look at putting on an adjustable gas block. I'm just a hobby shooter though, and not a gunsmith type of guy. So, I doubt I'll be grinding on the barrel nut, or changing barrels. Maybe someday, but for now I'll tackle small stuff, and shot the snot out of it. I really do appreciate you posting up about the PA10. In fact, it's one reason I got mine. You sure can't beat the price on the PA10's.
  12. Thanks for that info, and link. So, I'm guessing my scope is a second focal plane scope. Interesting, but I'm still a little confused as to why the change in poi. I've only ever used 3-9, or scopes in that range of power. So, I'm not used to using a scope with such large magnification.
  13. Thanks. To be honest, I was a little concerned reading reviews and seeing videos on the gen 1's. There were some issues with them. This one is a gen 2, and it looks like the issues from the gen 1 have been resolved. I think the accuracy potential for this rifle is good. I was happy that the Remington Core Lokts were the most accurate load this trip, as I like using that ammo for hunting. This rifle is destined to be my new deer and hog rifle. I want to comment on the scope for a minute. I experienced some large poi changes when shooting from 8.5 power and moving to 32 power. I zeroed at 8.5. When I tried to shoot using 32 power the poi moved laterally almost 6-8 inches. Elevation stayed the same. I didn't shoot at other magnifications. Although, I should have. I thought I'd leave that for another range session. Overall, I'm very pleased with the rifle. I'm looking forward to more shooting with it.
  14. I forgot to mention that my shooting was done at 100yrds. I ran out of time, or I would have hit the 200yrd range. I do want to get a better rest for next time though. Trying to shoot off of a carpet covered board with not much else as support is difficult for accuracy.
  15. Hurricane Harvey delayed my PA10 lower and upper, and they finally arrived. I put my rifle together yesterday. And, I hit the range today. I mounted a Pentax Gameseeker III 8.5-32x50AO scope on it using Nikon P series mounts. I lapped the scope rings and got everything straight, and the screws all torqued down properly. I know the scope isn't top quality, but wanted to make sure I didn't handicap it with a poor mounting job. I had three types of ammo for this range trip. I had Remington Core Lokt 150grn, Federal Non Typical 150grn soft points, and Monarch 147grn steel cased fmj's. The most accurate ammo was the Remington ammo. Next was the Monarch. And the least accurate was the federal. Everything shot fine. I had two malfunctions that were not the guns fault. The first was a failure to feed. It was my 10rnd Magpul Pmag not fully seating and dropped down. It does fit a little tight. I may work on that later. The other malfunction was a stove pipe. I believe that was cause by the screen the range uses to separate shooters. I was a bit close to mine, and the round bounced back to the rifle, and was caught by the bolt. Just the case mouth was caught, with the rest of the case sticking out. First time I've ever seen that happen. I want to comment on the EPT trigger. While it did feel smoother than some AR's I've shot, the pull weight seemed heavy. I was left feeling I wanted a much better trigger. I seemed to feel that it was much heavier than any of my bolt actions, and that may have affected some of my accuracy I had no sand bags. I only used the boards the range has, and they were a poor rest. I sighted in with the Remington ammo. I was pleased with the groups. 3 shot groups were always around an inch or so, with 5 shots opening it up a bit to close to 2 inches. The Monarch was very similar. The federal had poor groups. Most were 3-4 inches. I won't be buying anymore federal. I took some pics of several targets. I shot 180 rounds. I apologize for not writing on the targets to indicate which groups are which. Suffice to say my rifle likes Remington ammo the best so far. Also, I don't know if the rifle is over gassed or not, but it does have significantly more recoil than my AR15. However, it has much less than my bolt guns in 30-06 and .270. To conclude, I gotta say this PSA PA10 is probably the best value .308 AR styled rifle on the market. I got the lower and upper for 579.00 plus 30 transfer fee. So 609 for the rifle. The scope mounts cost me 50, and my buddy gave me the scope. So I have less than 675.00 in the gun.
  16. Me too! Thanks for the compliments on the rifle. I couldn't pass it up for what PSA was selling lowers and uppers for. After FFL transfer the rifle cost me 610.00. Add mags, scope rings, and I got another 80 in it. The scope was given to me by a good friend. So, as you see it in the pic I have less than 700.00 in it. I haven't seen any other maker beat that price for a .308 AR rifle.
  17. I weighted the complete rifle on my bathroom scale. It showed just under 9 pounds. This is my first .308 AR, but that seems like a pretty light weight .308 AR.
  18. I'm off today through Saturday. We're having beautiful weather now. Sunshine, cooler, dryer temps. And best of all my upper and lower came in from PSA!! I got her put together, all cleaned up and lubed, and scope mounted. It came real dry like most folks have reported. It wasn't real dirty. Everything went together real nice. The fit between upper and lower isn't as tight as my Wyndham Weaponry AR15. There is a slight amount of play between the upper and lower, not much, just a little. The fit, finish and movement of all the other parts appears to be excellent. The finish on the entire gun looks real nice. Got the scope bore sighted. Now I just gotta hit the range, and see what she'll do.
  19. Better add some water, non perishable food, meds, first aide kit somewhere in the house. And, like was said earlier, all above what may end up being the water line. Trust me when I tell you the waters rise fast, and the winds will come for you. It ain't pretty afterward. Supplies will NOT be coming in for a few days. You WILL be dependent upon yourself and your supplies for survival. And, if you have plenty, help your neighbors brother. I'm real proud of how Texas handled up on Harvey. Shucks, we're still doing it. The effects will be long lasting.
  20. My PA10 upper, and my sons PA15 upper arrived today!! Hopefully, my lowers will be delivered to the FFL tomorrow. And I'll pick them up on Thursday, as I'm off Thursday. Hurricane Harvey slowed them down, but they're finally here!
  21. I just got two emails from UPS. My PA10 upper, and my sons PA15 upper are on the move, and are currently at La Marque, TX. No info on date of delivery yet though. Just statement that the delivery will be delayed.
  22. ?? not NATO ammo. Got it from local stores, Academy and Walmart.
  23. Yea, I should have had it in an ammo can. I have one or two. However, it was in my range box, as I had just been to the range a few days prior, and just hadn't moved it back into an ammo can. The majority of my ammo is locked up in a large cabinet that stayed dry, and a second large cabinet I keep upstairs. Then I have a supply in the gun safe. My ammo cans are almost full too. I only have so much room. That small amount was what was left in the range box after a day of shooting. I had forgotten about it I guess. Some of it has the red sealer around the primers, and some does not. I'm not afraid of squibs. I can deal with those pretty easy. It's the hang fires that scare the hell out of me. So, I guess I may just dispose of this ammo. I'll probably pull the bullets on the brass cases so my buddy can reload them. The steel cased ammo I don't know. I've checked each of the cases for signs of water intrusion. I've found two that I could tell were contaminated by the green corrosion around the mouth where the bullet is. And, when I shook the case I could tell the powder wasn't moving freely as it should. They were separated out. All the others looked good. If I didn't know for a fact they had been under water, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
  24. I forgot to mention the ammo was submerged for almost two days. I did shake a few and can feel and hear the powder mover around in the case. There doesn't appear to be any corrosion on any of them.
  25. I'm drying out some backpacks, gun cases, and some ammo. Question, what are the chances of the ammo still being good? It was some Lake City, Remington UMC, Tula, and Monarch, all 5.56/.223. The Tula and Monarch are steel cased
